Charles Dickens novel Oliver
Twist is about an orphan boy
who runs away from a
workhouse and meets a
pickpocket on the streets of
London.

household of young boys who
are trained to steal for their
master.
•Charles Dickens was born on 7 February 1812 and
died on 9 June 1870.
•He was an English writer and social critic.
•He created some of the world's most well-known
fictional characters and is generally regarded as the
greatest novelist of the Victorian period.
Situation of workhouse:
Oliver is born in a workhouse.
She dies right after giving birth
to him, and Oliver is sent to the
parochial orphanage, where he
and the other orphans are
treated terribly and fed very
little. They were suffering from
slow starvation. When he turns
nine, he is sent to the
workhouse, where again he and
the others are treated badly and
practically starved.
Spoiled Childhood:
Boys treated as a labor and they starving for
needy stomach.
feel humiliations and helpless condition of
orphan children.
 When Oliver meets Fagin he eventually learns
that Fagin's boys are all pickpockets and thieves.
He observes and describes many categories of
child abasement.
On a happier note, Rose Maylie turns out
to be the long-lost sister of Agnes, and
therefore Oliver's aunt.
She marries her long-time sweetheart
Harry, and Oliver lives happily with his
saviour, Mr. Brownlow.
While we conclude the novel we can say that Oliver
gained all the things what he want.
Dickens end up this novel with happy ending.
But we can say that all the children of orphanage and
workhouse were not gain the same.
So we can say that “Justice is Blind”, because only Oliver
get justice but other children remaining in the same
position, they can not get justice.
