The Love Actually poster includes 10 of the
famous British actors, which are included with
in the film. This helps to attract audiences, as
they can now see the main characters of the
film, and can be attracted to them through the
popularity of the actors, so chances are, that
the audience members will at least like 1 of
the actors in this film. Hugh Grant, Colin Firth,
Bill Nighy and Rowan Atkinson, all appear in
more than one Richard Curtis film, so already
have a past popularity within Curtis’ films.
Other actors include Liam Neeson and Alan
Rickman, who typically appear in action
packed films.

4. CONVENTIONS
The poster in rather conventional, with the film
name at the bottom, along with the
informative text below that, with a tag line
also. As well as this the actors surround the
cover to help appeal to the audience.
In terms of conventions for genre, the colours
are all very bright, and the red bow through
out the middle, can represent love (The word
love is also written in red.) The bow and snow
within the smaller pictures of the actors
represents the Christmassy feel to the film.

5. CHRISTMAS IS ALL AROUND
Within the film, Bill Nighy’s character Billy Mack,
covered, Wet Wet Wet’s cover version of Love Is
All Around, from Curtis’ Four Weddings and a
Funeral. The song was released as a ‘crap’
attempt at Christmas number 1 in the film. The
song was released in 2003, on the films
soundtrack, along with another cover Jump, by
the Sugar babes. Over all the album got to
second position on the soundtrack billboard
chart.
The song includes a music video of Mack singing
a dancing with a series of blonde, female Santa's.
The music video was all great at seeking to gain
greater audiences, using sexism to give the rom-
com an extra masculine touch

6. DR. STRANGELOVE ACTUALLY
The telegraph also created an article not long
after, mimicking the films poster, with aspects of
another film interwoven into it. In 1964, Stanely
Kubrich created a political satire film, known as
Dr Strangelove. The film was a black political
comedy, which was recreated in the form of a
love actually poster.
This was made to entice audiences of those who
enjoy war films, and these sort of black comedies
to gain more of an audience for Love Actually.

Viewers, and other internet users also
had the opportunity to change the

computers, which were very popular at
this time, especially for those who were
first buying a computer. The
