Twilight is a romance novel by Stephenie Meyer that tells
the story of a love story between Bella Swan, an ordinary
human, and Edward Cullen, a handsome vampire who has
been 17 years old for almost 100 years. This novel is the first
book of the tetralogy of Twilight Saga which is so popular
throughout the world and has been filmed.
SINOPSIS
This novel tells the story of Bella Swan, an Arizona girl
who moved to Forks to live with her father. Bella
begins to recognize Edward Cullen on the first day of
school, but there is no warm welcome given by
Edward to Bella. Bella, who does not understand
Edward Cullen and his mystical abilities, asks his
friend Jacob Black.
Bella learns that Edward is actually a vampire
vegetarian, they don't prey on humans but prey on
animals. Edward and Bella start to open to each other
and they fall in love.
Their relationship was tested when vampires from other
tribes came to prey on Bella. James wanted to prey on Bella,
but it was foiled by the Cullen. They already considered
Bella as part of the Cullen family, so they made various
efforts to save Bella. After returning to Forks, Bella and
Edward attend the promnite party. Bella expresses her
desire to become a vampire but Edward rejects it.
Analysis Relating to The Writer
The writer makes the main character Bella repeatedly
expresses her admiration for Edward. For example
when Bella mentions that Edward is like a Greek
statue or Adonis statue, also when Bella states that
Edward is like an angel.
RISING ACTION
•Bella moves to Forks
•She notices The Cullen family
•In Biology class, she sits beside Edward
•Edward doesn’t show up the next few days
•Forks gets snow, and the truck slips almost hits Bella
•Edward saves her, but Bella wants the answer to how he
did it
CLIMAX
•Bella goes to watch Edward’s family play baseball
•James and his clan meet and want to join
•During the game, James makes the scene and catches the
scent of Bella.
•The Cullen family do anything they can to protect Bella so
they try to hide her but he tricks her into coming where he
is
•James’ intent is to kill her
FALLING ACTION
•The Cullen locate the place where James tricked
Bella into coming to, and they get just in the right
time
•They almost didn’t make it because James had
already bitten Bella, and she was getting ready to go
through the change of becoming a vampire
RESOLUTION
•Edward sucks the venom from Bella before
she changes into a vampire, and she is taken
to the hospital where she recovers
completely.
LIKED
Many interesting things are told in this novel
such as sincere love stories, true love and
romanticism. The language style is easy for the
readers to follow, especially among teenagers.
The cover is simple and attractive. Also this
novel also had an interesting plot, with a new
look at vampires.
DISLIKED
In this novel, Edward's point of view is not told. Also Bella
was absolutely useless. She always got in trouble and
Edward had to go and saved her.
