Vibe magazine was founded in 1993 by producer Quincy Jones. It features R&B and hip hop artists. While it has changed ownership over time, it aims to engage its target audience of 18 to 34 year olds, especially males, with images and articles about popular hip hop artists. The magazine uses large prominent images and minimal text to catch readers' attention on its covers, contents pages, and within articles.

MAGAZINE THAT I MAY EMULATE.

2. FRONT COVER
I like the style and layout of vibe magazine as
they instantly catch your attention. They all
have a dominant image with a well known hip
hop artist. This appeals to the audience
because if they are interested in hip hop they
will know the artist as they are big in this area.
They are all doing a certain pose to grab your
attention with Eminem and TI looking straight
at you as if they know your there. I like this
effect because straight away it addresses you
as the reader. The cover lines are always
positioned either side of the image which I
prefer than going over the image. The main
image always dominates the page, this stands
out making it more realistic. The main title on
the VIBE magazine is of the image letting the
audience know who it is if they cant tell from
the image. The colours do change from
different colours on the Vibe magazine, but it
is generally red which is a stand out colour.
3. CONTENTS PAGE
The contents pages all appear with famous
artists on. The information and text is minimal
but it tells you the features on the different
pages which is all what is needed. The page
is very basic but informs the reader the
articles in the magazine. The artists are all
doing a different pose and grab your attention
when you look at the page. The font is small
making the image stand out more. They have
categorized the articles on the contents so it is
easier for the audience to navigate around.
The background colour changes to emphasize
the image or text this is a technique I like.
4. ARTICLES
The way the articles are
presented are effective
because it contains an image
of the artist it is about then
has columns of writing about
them. The main articles
generally describes an artists
life. The different columns of
text break it up and allow
more space on the space. The
titles stand out away from the
text making it less distinct.
