1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge
forms and conventions of real media products?
I lookedatvarious musicmagazines tomake myown magazine looklike anactual magazine. My
magazine wasan RnB magazine;Ilookedat‘The Source’indetail toget an ideaof how I could
recreate mymagazine ina similarway. Iwantedto make sure my title of mymagazine was
enhancedintermsof size,justlike ‘The Source’ makessure thatthe title standsoutfromeverything.
I alsomade sure that I put the barcode on same side as ‘The Source’because it makesthe magazine
lookrealisticbyjusthaving the barcode itmakesthe entire magazine more professional. My
inspiration tohave the stance thatI chose for my frontcoverwas inspiredbythisveryphoto.Itsuits
my magazine downtothe ground.
I identifiedimmediatelythatIneedto have three differentcoloursonmyfrontcoverto make itlook
goodand make sure that cover line especiallystandsout.‘The Source’magazine hadthree different
colourson itsfrontcover,red,white andyellow.Thishelpedthe writingtostill be seeninsteadof
fadingintothe background.IlikedthisaspectsoI decidedtoimplementitmyself,byhaving three
differentcoloursonmyfrontcover blue,white andblackwhomIfeltmade the writingstandout.

2. My magazinescontentspage wasinspiredbyBillboard’smagazine contentspage setup.The wayin
whichthey separate the textandimages made me wantto try implementsomethingslightlysimilar
to it.My magazine hasdevelopedthe conventionsof areal magazine because I’ve recreatedthe
layoutto suitmyown magazine.Ichose to have more photosinmy contents page andalmostmake
it intoa groupedcollage photos.Imade sure eachphotohad a purpose to the magazine tomake it
lookas professionalaspossible,Ialsomade sure Ihad distinctcoloursforthe magazine tomake it as
stylishand flamboyantaspossible.

3. Settingupmy double page spreadwasprobablythe mostdifficultpartof mymagazine;I wantedto
make it as realisticaspossible.SoIexhaustedthroughall the RnBmagazinestofindthe perfect
double page spreadtoemulate,XXLhadthe sort of double page spreadstyle Iwaslookingfor.I
emulatedthe same stance asthisXXL double page spread,butIchose to make the layoutof my
double page spreadof the cuff and original.Ifeel thischallengesconventionsof real mediaproducts
because Ifounda way to reinventmydouble page spread bybeinginspiredbyanotherdouble page
spread. I usedthe stroke tomake the writingboldandstand out; I alsowantedtomake the
interview section of myworkstandoutso I useda transparentbox to make it lookprofessional.
