12. Conclusions
Question 1
For this question, I simply just asked what their gender was. This helped me get an
idea of whether the responses to the rest of the questions were male or female. This
would have a big impact on the questionnaire because my audience is targeted at
young males so if the majority of the people were female then it would affect my
results because they will have different opinions to what males would, making my
results inaccurate. Luckily, I did get 4 males but there were 6 females which could’ve
affected my results. Ideally, I should’ve asked more males to fill out the questionnaire
because they’re closer to my target audience and this would’ve made it more
accurate.
Question 2
I then went on to ask what age they was which could’ve affected the results too
because my magazine genre is not targeted at 40 year olds for example so if they
were to answer, it would make my results less accurate. Thankfully, the people who
filled out my questionnaire were either 18> or 18-21 which fits my target audience
perfectly.
Question 3
There was a range of ethnicities throughout the people who I questioned but the
majority of people were White which was ideal because my target audience are white
males.
Question 4
I then went on to ask if they worked part-time or full-time because this would then
help me pick a price for the magazine too. If most people worked part-time, then I
know that the majority of people would have a disposable income so they would be
able to afford to buy the magazines frequently. Thankfully, only 3 people didn’t work
at all and 7 people worked part-time so they have a disposable income.
Question 5
13. I needed to know how many people actually read magazines in their free time and it
turned out that 6 people did but 4 people didn’t. However, the majority of people
did so it made the rest of my questions accurate.
Question 6
If they said yes to the previous question, I wanted to know what they actually
enjoyed about them the most. The majority of people responded with ‘the articles’
and the rest of the answers included ‘interviews’, ‘pictures’ and ‘seeing my favourite
artists’. I think if I was to do further research into what they enjoy about it, I would
ask specifically what type of articles they enjoy so I get a more detailed answer.
Question 7
The reason I asked this question was because I needed to know how often people
would like to see a new magazine issue released. Most of the people said weekly
which would be ideal because daily would be too frequent and monthly wouldn’t be
frequent enough.
Question 8
This question also links to the one I asked about them having a job because it’s
asking how much they would be willing to spend on a magazine. Because most
people had a part-time job, it turned out that everyone would be willing to spend £1
or above on a magazine. The most popular options chosen were £1-£1.99 and £2-
£2.99.
Question 9
I then started to ask questions specifically targeted towards rock music because I
would get more detailed answers which will then help me produce a magazine more
specific to the target audience’s interests and what appeals to them most. The first
obvious question to do this was to see how many of them listened to rock music. 9
people did and only 1 person did so I knew that this would make the rest of my
questions accurate because most of them listened to rock.
Question 10
14. This question was just to see what kind of things people first thing of when they
think of rock music. The two popular ones were guitars and darkness/black so I know
that the mise-en-scene I should include is guitars and the dominant colour should be
black.
Question 11
I then wanted to know what kind of artists/bands were their favourite in this genre so
I knew what kind of ones to include in my magazine that would attract the target
audience the most.
Question 12
This question was just to get to know what they like to do in their free time. The
most popular answer was listening to music which is accurate because the magazine
is on rock music so it would be ideal that one of their interests would be listening to
music. The rest of the answers included ‘Going to concerts’, ‘Watching TV’ and
‘Playing games’ which are all typical lifestyles of a teenager/young adult.
Question13
Then, I asked what kind of content they would expect to see specifically in a rock
magazine which would help me decide what to do for my double page spread. The
two popular ones were interviews and articles but I think if I was to do it again, I
should’ve went on to ask what kind of articles they would expect to see so I could’ve
got a more detailed answer and therefore I would’ve been more accurate in what I
was including in my magazine.
Question 14
Finally, I needed to know what colours I should be including that would be suitable
for the genre. Although I already had an idea of what colours I should be using, I
wanted to get the target audiences opinion on what would attract them. Luckily, they
were pretty much the same colours that I already planned on including such as black,
white, red and green.
