Contents page analyssi
1. The date is under the masthead of
the contents page, this allows the
reader to understand if the magazine
is new or old.
The page numbers are all in a
different colour to the rest of the text,
they fit in with the theme as they’re
red. The font is bold and it stands out
next to the black and white. It fits in
with the colour scheme as all of the
numbers are matching the colour of
the masthead. Under the page titles,
there are subheadings telling the
audience what is going to be in the
article.
This contents page has used the rule of
thirds, when you look at the page you can
see it has been divided into three columns.
This makes it easier to understand for the
reader, and also gives it a house style that
can be used throughout every issue.
The layout of the page is very structured,
there are three columns (rule of thirds),
the main image is central and the page
numbers are to the right. The layout shows
a variety of images and texts. It is very busy
and a lot is going on however it makes it
easier to understand.
There is a white border around the
main image; which is related to an
article in the magazine, this makes
the image stand out against the
background. There is a caption
under this image to explain what the
image is about and where they can
read the full article to interest the
reader in wanting to read on.
The masthead is at the top of the page with contents
next to it so that the reader knows what the page is and
what it is aiming to do; this would be continued
throughout the magazine, which is used as brand
identity.
The font used is very consistent, as it
is used throughout the whole
magazine. This again allows the
reader to understand the house style
and establishes brand identity. It is
bold and urban which fits in with the
theme of the magazine.
The main heading lets the audience
know what the whole of this particular
issue is based around. This will allow
the target audience, who the
magazine is aimed at to decide
whether or not to buy the magazine.
In this case it is a ‘touring’ special and
has a lot of detail on the contents
page for it.
