People step up based on your expectations. Have high
expectations
Be interested in people's growth and give time to your reportees.
Don't be a guest actor
Show curiosity in understanding how engineers solved technical
problem. People feel appreciated
It can't be work always. Smile. Loosen up. Talk informally about
things outside of work.
Spend time coaching people. Showing interest in their career is a
great motivator for them
 Your reportees can love and respect you. You will fail if you can't
deliver
 You don't need to have all the answers as long as you are
interested in learning
 You can be the smartest guy. if you don't listen to your reportees
and take their inputs you will fail
 Listening, good analytical skill in understanding problems, good
communication and standing up for what you believe will make
you a respectable leader
 Have a positive and can do attitude always. You lose respect
when you are a complainer

CHALLENGES, OFFER HELP.
NEVER BE TOO BUSY
MANAGING UP
NEVER MANAGE JUST BY
NUMBERS OR METRICS. IT IS
A PIECE OF PUZZLE NOT
EVERYTHING
if you can solve the problem now, do it NOW. Don't
procrastinate. Piling up things will make you ineffective in
your job
Know when to go deep and when not to. Going deep in
everything will cost you time/energy and defocuses you
from bigger objectives
Be on top of things, make fast decisions and be super
organized to be an effective leader
Written clear communication and communicating often puts
entire team on the same page. Written communication is
one of the best way to scale your management
