2. Similar Product Research
I researched other similar soap operas that also were aimed at the
same target audience as what I was going to aim my soap opera
at. The storylines I found in these shows gave me the inspiration
for my own ideas.
3. Changes
To improve my trailer from the feedback I received from
the class, I would re-edit the sound so that the suspense
is built, then as the bombshell drops the tempo of the
music increases in-line with the action in the trailer. This
would create a dramatic effect and increase the tension
within the trailer resulting in the audience wanting to
watch the full program.
It was drawn to my attention that the title card at the
beginning of the trailer is not the correct colour we were
after; this is another part of the trailer that I would change.
As we are using the E4 channel logo we need to use the
E4 colours, at this moment in time the title card is more of
a pink colour when we need to be using the E4 purple.
4. What was good
I conducted some audience research to get the opinion of the viewers on what they
liked and what they thought needed to be improved on my trailer to make it more
appealing and professional. Here are some of the comments I received;
“I like the soundtrack and how the lyrics fit well with the storyline.”
“I like how the fade to black creates drama and tension.”
“The song creates a lot of tension in the trailer, I want to see more!”
“The editing is great, very sharp and matches the music.”
“I feel that some of the storylines portray some of the issues that teenagers face in
real life.”
“I like the mystery behind who tampers with the car, its clever how you cut the scene
just as the villain is about the show their face!”
“I would watch this program all the time!”
