YouTube, iMacs and Blogger for soap trailer research and creation
1. Q4. How did you use media
technologies in the
construction and research,
planning and evaluation
stages?
2. Youtube Research
I conducted research through YouTube to watch other soap trailers. By
watching other trailers this gave me the inspiration for the scenes in
my own soap and what I should include in my own trailer.
3. I made a YouTube account so that I could upload my own trailers and post them
on the website. From here I could share my videos and embed them into my
blog.
4. iMacs
The use of the iMacs enabled the group to edit the footage we
had captured and create each trailer. iMovie was significant
to the creation of the trailer, it enabled us to edit all aspects
of the footage including the sound. Everything could be
produced in one place using a professional program. We
could also use the iMovie feature to edit the sound of the
trailer this included adding a soundtrack and
ducking/increasing the sound.
5. Soundtrack
To get the music we wanted to use for our trailer we first had to use
YouTube to find a song that we liked and thought would work well.
From here we would then have
to copy and past the YouTube
link into a video ripping site to
retrieve the audio.
6. I used the website www.youtube-mp3.org to rip the audio.
We then had to paste the link into
the website where the video audio
was changed to mp3 so it could be
downloaded.
7. Once the audio file was downloaded it would appear in iTunes, from here it
would appear in iMovie where I could drag and drop the audio onto the
video and place it where I wanted it to be.
Once the audio was on the
timeline, we were able to duck
and increase the sound in the
video. This was useful as if we
could not hear the actor
speaking well we could
increase the vocals and duck
the music.
8. Blogger was used to upload and present
Blogger our work.
To create a
new post I
would first This screen would
have to start then appear, from
by pressing here I would name
this button. the post and input
what I wanted to
share.
9. If I were to embed a video
into my blog I would have to
find the link on the YouTube
video as shown.
Here is the final stage of
uploading a post, once I
had completed the post all
I would have to do was
press publish and it would
be active on my blog.
10. Creating the ancillaries
The ancillaries were created using
Photoshop, this enabled us to merge all
the pictures together to creating the
billboard, add graphics/fonts, change the
background and tweak the pictures.
11. PowerPoint
PowerPoint was used to present the evaluation, I found this a good program to
use as I could copy and paste images and annotate my work easily. I could
change fonts and colour to make my evaluation more appealing and
interesting to the reader.
12. Twitter
When we were not in lesson we were able to communicate with the
teacher and other student through Twitter. This was an easy way of
asking questions and communicating with others. We could get
feedback wherever we were and this allowed us to work on our
projects outside of college.
13. Recording our soap
To record our soap we used HD cameras which we could mount of a
tripod or use handheld. We could take pictures and record video,
this was then transferred through a USB cable to the computers.
14. Slide Share
I used slide share to upload my PowerPoint's to my blog.
First of all I had to click upload
and find the PowerPoint I wanted
to upload.
Once the upload was completed it gave
an embed link which you could then
post into the blog.
