2. Lighting
In this scene, night vision is used to show the lack of visible and bright
lighting, indicating the dark experience the girls are about the encounter.
Attention is drawn to the sprinkling of water, which is only seen through the
light directed from the helmet. The second print screen shows all the girls
individual lights surrounded by complete darkness, portraying that there is no
positivity or a change in their circumstance. This third print screen shows
Juno bringing more light to the circumstance, showing an irony as she is
known to be an unfaithful character.
3. Location
The location in clip 4 shows a steep dangerous mountain, as there is a type of liquid
Spraying directly into one of the girls face. This emphasizes the struggle that the girls are
In, physically and mentally. They are also climbing in oblivion, as they are unaware of
What is around them and what is at the top of that mountain. One of the clips shows some of
the girls on ground floor, making more progress as they have this power of light in their hands.
Surrounding the girls are dull brown caved walls, connoting a sense of hopelessness and
Darkness.
4. Props
The water machine directs the sprinkling of water that busts out
onto the girls. This is a significant prop because it adds to the
obstacles that the girls have to face.
The bones in this scene, connote to the ideas of death, fear and
perhaps the girls future fate. The bones as props are successful in
predicting a type of doom that the girls will come too.
5. Movement and Acting
The first print screen shows Juno trembling in panic as she lights the flame, showing
a sense of anxiety of what she might see before her. The acting of this print screen
shows her facial expressions to be frightened and nervous. Juno is also breathing
heavily which again implies the idea of her being anxious and afraid.
The second print screen shows the crawler again, luring over one of the girls,
perhaps in position to attack her until she sees him. The crawler is looking directly at
the camera, giving more of a fright as it looks directly at the audience. The girl runs
as soon as she sees the crawler, as well as all the girls panicking and screaming.
6. Costume+ Hair and Makeup
Prosthetics are used on the crawlers, to give them an extra layer of abnormality and
fright for the audience. They appear to be very pale and thin characters, perhaps
portraying zombie-like qualities. The close up of this shot is emphasized, as both
characters have a pale complexion. Juno has a sweating, dirt covered face that replicate
the hard work she has encountered in climbing the mountain. Juno is also wearing a
vest top, showing the audience the weather conditions of the cave. She is also wearing
a helmet, showing that there needs a sense of protection.
