Friday the 13th Movie Analysis

1. FRIDAY THE 13TH

2. Black and white low cut shot of woods in the rain, a flash
of lightning and then a zoomed in image of an overhanging
sign saying ‘camp crystal lake’ then another flash of
lightning to an eye level shot of a girl crying and hobbling
through the woods. Another flash of lightning then a black
screen with actors name on it, then goes back to woods in
the rain with the girl with the camera on her from the
waist down facing her hobbling with her arm hung low as
if its damaged and bleeding.

3. Then a flash of lightning and the camera goes out to a full body shot of her
screaming and grimacing as she hobbles, flash of lightning again and black screen
with another actors face on it. Camera slightly off to the right of a full body shot of
the girl as she moans and hobbles through the woods, lightning, black screen and
actor name. Long distance shot of girl hobbling down a slight incline, she outs a
hand on floor for balance and carries on, next shot is behind her as she pushes her
way through the bushes. Then another women jumps out and scares her, lightning,
black screen and actor name. The first girl turns around so they both face each
other, the camera angle is behind the new girl over the left shoulder facing girl 1.

4. Long distance up high tree shot looking at both characters, “new girl says come here, come
here now” and starts walking toward the original girl with her hands open as if for a hug but
has a knife. Then the camera switches to another bush with the 2 characters out of shot and
someone’s face hiding in the bush looking scared. Flash of lightning and the scene changes to
being over the left shoulder of the second girl facing the original girl, the original girl is crying
and backing away towards a pond/lake as the second women walks toward her saying
“you’re the last one” the original girl keeps saying “no” as she cries, flash of lightning black
screen and actor name. The second women says “I killed all the others” as the camera angle
is over the right shoulder of the original girl this time looking up at the second women. “It
will be easier for you than it was for Jason” second women. Flash of lightning black screen
actor name. “you need to be punished, for what you did to him” still second women, flash of
lightning, black screen, actor name as first women cries “I didn’t do anything” the second
women says “you let him drown, Jason was my son” flash of lightning black screen actor
name. Camera angle back over left shoulder of second women looking down as first girl is
hunched over looking up saying “no” and crying, flash of lightning black screen actor name.
“you should’ve been watching him” lightning flash, black screen actor name.

5. Second women raises the knife as if to stab down on the original women from the
camera angle of looking over the original girls left shoulder, the original women
swings a machete and cuts the throat of the second women from the camera angle
of looking over the second women’s left shoulder. Flash of lightning black screen
actors name. Camera on the floor as the second women’s head hits the ground after
being cut off, flash of lightning black screen and actor name. Then camera back at
long distance in the tree again (same shot location) and moves right following the
girl as she runs off. Black screen actor name.

6. Eye level shot moving left of childlike creature walking through the woods, black
screen actor name. Floor level shot travelling up side of a body, starts at hand loses
focus of hand and moves towards the head on its side, black screen actor name.
View of the side of the body, head cut off as a pair of child’s legs walk toward it and
crouch next to it patting the body is if horrified hoping them to wake up. Black
screen actor name, head and shoulders shot of child leaning over as the camera
follows him right as he leans and picks something off of the floor the other side of
the head

7. Black screen actor name. Floor shot as child’s hand picks up a pendant. Black screen
actor name. Shot goes from ground level severed head to the boys hands opening
the pendant. Black screen actor name. “Jason” in second women’s voice, close in
shot as if boy was looking at his hands as he opens the pendant and it is a picture of
the second women and him (assumed to be the boy and his mum, second women)
“my special, special boy” second women’s voice. The boys hands move down, black
screen and actor name. Camera is at ground level, in line with the body and focuses
on the torso as the boy moves the machete off of the body’s chest picking it up as
the camera rises as the boys back is to us as he stands up, “they must be punished
Jason, for what they did to you” second women’s voice, black screen actor name.
“For what they did to me” long grass boy walks through it with his back to the
camera at head level. Black screen actor name. Severed head on the ground, ground
camera shot, “Kill for mother” large lightning and thunder flash/rumble.

8. The music the entire way through the introduction is a quiet drone slowly
intensifying with a small drum beat in the background until the child comes out
of the woods and violins squeal along with someone scraping along some
strings, then he gets to the body and it is a chorus of voices softly in the
background.
