Essay on My Family History
My Family History
Family history is very important to an individual. By knowing where you come from, you can have
a better perspective of your life. Having a clear understanding of your family background allows
you to better appreciate the things that you would normally take for granted. The house, the car, and
the average clothing may look better when one sees the sacrifices their family has made. They will
see that their family has worked very hard just so their family can experience the better things in
life. A persons roots and origin is one of the most important things to explore. It alone can bring you
closer to self–discovery.
There are two sides to a person's family and one side of my family has ... Show more content on

One of these is that on Thanksgiving everybody comes together to my parents' house in New Jersey
for a huge feast. On Christmas only my mother and the children (me and my brother) travel to
Illinois to spend a week with my grandparents. On New Years Eve we all get together at my parents'
house in New Jersey and toast to the New Year with champagne and apple cider. During Labor Day
weekend all of my family travels to South Jersey to my grandfathers' condo. We usually spend all of
our time on the beach and barbequing, except on Sunday when we go to church. After all, my
grandfather is a minister. One of our biggest family traditions is going back to Puerto Rico. Every
year my mother and I travel back to Puerto Rico for a portion of our summer vacation. Now that I
am older I travel there more often and stay there much longer. My father never joins because he
doesn't like my mothers side of the father too much and he thinks that we when we speak Spanish
we are all plotting against him. Of course that's not true though. My bother doesn't speak Spanish so
he doesn't like to go either. I guess that tradition is one that belongs solely to my mother and I.
The role of the people in family basically stayed the same for most of the generations with a little
change in the later generations. Earlier the males were the only ones that worked in the family and
the wife stayed at home and took care of the house and

Interpretation of a Family Health History
The proband interviewed is a 53–year–old female. Based on the family history given by the
proband, the pedigree formed interprets that there are multiple diseases that are common within the
family. Even though the proband has already been diagnosed with hypertension, diabetes and high
cholesterol, there are still opportunities to reduce the effects of these diseases and improve health
along with lifestyle. The information on family history also promotes an opportunity for the proband
and significant other to guide their children in a better direction to prevent the common diseases in
the family.

For example, the proband does not know how the paternal grandfather died but does remember it
was due to a disease. Moreover, the proband also does not know any health history relating to her
brother and her maternal uncle, both who are still alive. Another factor complicating the
interpretation of the pedigree is the proband only being able to provide a guesstimate age of onset
related to some of the diseases within the life of the family

Why is it important to know your family history? How does it impact your life? These are the
questions that helped me realize how important your family history is, so today I will be telling you
about my family history. My story tells you about the struggle for people from the West Indies to
come to America. It all started on a little island of Trinidad and Tobago were the native people lived.
They had no worries no troubles they just lived life the way they should be, until one day when their
lives were turned upside down. White men from America came and started talking people and
forcing them out of their homes and putting them on slave boats. My great grandfather and mother
were put on these boats and traveled through the West Indies, for

Reflection Of History : The History Of My Family
History is defined as the study of the science of humanity in the past. It's a broad subject that spans
over countless people groups throughout the years that the world has been around. Even before the
times we have written word history was still being made, and it is still extremely important. We tend
to forget that in our average day to day lives we are still making history. That all over the globe
everyone is taking part in what might be in a history book someday.
History isn't always the glamorous and fast paced events like war, but sometimes it's just explaining
things the average Joe might experience during his time on the Earth. This paper will not have any
war or conflicts that are life or death for the delicate system of a community, but it's history
nonetheless. The History of my family and how it connects to bring us decades later to where we are
today.
First, is my mother Robin Elisabeth Seymour's side, and her parents are Bobby Louise Tierce and

In the spring of 1955 he graduated at Coffeeville High. After his graduation he spent a few years
going between jobs until he finally landed a job in Construction as a run boy. In 1957 he found a job

Trace My Family History
I was able to trace my family history as far back as my Great grandparents on my mother's side. I
learned some very interesting and shocking facts about their lives and the struggles they had to
endure. My Great grandparents adoptive my mother and twin sister at the age 2 because their
parents were unable to care for them properly. They welcomed them with open arms and raised both
of them as if they were their own. My Great grandfather was named James Allen Barnes, he was one
of 5 sibling who was born in March of 1913. My Great grandmother was named Miriam Etta
Troxler, she was one of 4 sisters who was born in December 1915. James and Miriam were both
born in Greensboro, N.C. My Great grandparents both had suffered great loses at very young ages
that would change their lives overnight. James and Miriam fathers who names we do not know were
shot on accident during a hunting trip and died. Their fathers were not on the same hunting trip and
did not know each other. After the deaths of their fathers, James had to quit school at the age of 15
to help his mother pay bills by delivering newspapers and Miriam and her sisters were split up to
live in different homes. The main reason Miriam and her sisters were separated was due her mother
not being able to support all the girls on her own. Miriam never saw or heard from her sisters ever
again. Both families struggled tremendously during The Great Depression. During a dance in 1930
the two met and were married at the ages of 15

Family history is very important to an individual. By knowing where you come from, you can have
a better perspective of life. As I have grown up I have noticed that my entire background has
influenced by who I am. After interviewing my parents, I realized that they don't have much
knowledge about our ancestral history. I find that our history is regrettably limiting. Because most
of the history has been passed down verbally. According to my dad's, our ancestors are from
southern China. He explained that after Chinese expanded their power large populations of Hmongs
were forced to travel further south into Indochina. From a period of time, the populations of Hmong
in Indochina lived relatively peacefully. However, the French occupation disrupts their peaceful
lives. After WWII, communist Vietnam grew in power which leads to the overthrow of the French

Tips to Seek Your Family History in New York
Once the genealogy bug bites you, you'll be introduced to world–wide, online libraries of
information and total fascination. You'll be off and running. You'll be seen in cemeteries copying
information onto tablets. Pictures of headstones will start appearing on your blog posts. Older
family members will begin to look forward to your "long verbal communications" and graphic
visits. They may wonder how you can talk so much and ask so many questions, and it's all fun.
Bring along some donuts, and settle in for discussions of stagecoach travels. The pages of New
York's family history are old, tattered and sometimes water–stained, but you won't even notice.
Inhaling the century old–dust of ancient deed and tax ledgers will become your new preferred
perfume.

Understand our family heritage gives one a sense of pride. History teaches us about our language
and our roots. Knowing the history of your family can help prove a sense of identity because getting
to know yourself gives you the opportunity to understand new things about culture. This will result
in you realize who you really are. Learning the history of your people will form a connection to
certain customs, values, and beliefs. I have learned many stories of my family history from just
talking to the elderly within my family. Stories about their trials and tribulation of those previous
generations show me how far we came overall. I have passed on those same stories along to the
generation under me and emphasized how important it is for them to do the same. Understand your
culture will open your mind to learning to respect others cultures as well.
In conclusion, know your past has a lot to do with your present and future. All things that are

Reflection of My Family History
What can I say about my family? Honestly, hardly know jack shit about my family's history. As of
now, I know that both my Biological parents were born in Puerto Rico. In addition, please be
mindful that the man who is supposedly is my biological father; I did not have a chance to meet his
ass until I was 24 years old. Furthermore, I never would have met this fucking man had it not been
for me calling my Titi Carmen (Aunty Carmen) in Puerto Rico. Before I go too deep into my
family's history, I think it would be best for you guys to get a little bit of my background, my first
family, the streets of New York City.
For starters, I was born and raised in the most violent poverty–stricken section of New York City,
The South Bronx. I managed to survive two epidemics, (the crack, and the aids epidemic). I was
born in the early seventies. The Bronx to me looked like a fucking warzone, a vast wasteland, where
it was not uncommon to see the rats roam free amongst the debris of the streets of New York City;
along with the huge water bugs (Cucarachas Grandes), it is what we Ricans in the hood use to call
them. These big ass roaches were disgusting; these motherfuckers had wings on them too. So them
suckers could fly and shit. I cringe as I writing this shit thinking about them nasty ass disgusting
roaches. The shit I had to deal with growing up in this bitch! I still remember, I swear to you guys

Family history is something most people do not know much about. This is unfortunate because
some people do not or are unable to value their families past. Family history is important for many
different reasons. It can be used to meet family members a person never knew about and for
educational purpose. I was fortunate enough to have my grandparents still alive to tell me about
their great–grandparents and grandparents. I never truly understand how interesting and important it
is to know about where my family came from until I did this project. My family consists of Polish

Children were working as young as seven sometimes even younger. Children were also missing
school for work and working long debilitating hours. Children often worked in factories because
they were small and more children could fit intern this would lead to more work getting done.
Children also had smaller hands and this allowed them to fix machines if they were broken.
However, machines are dangerous and would sometimes injure or cut off a hand or finger of a child.
In present day there are many laws benefiting how many hours a child can work based on their age.
"The federal child labor provisions, authorized by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) of 1938,
also known as the child labor laws, were enacted to ensure that when young people work, the work
is safe and does not jeopardize their health, well–being or educational opportunities. These
provisions also provide limited exemptions" (U.S. Dept. of child labor). Child labor laws are now in
place to protect children while they work. Children can now work safely and receive an education at

Family health history is a vital component in assessing a patient, and it helps identify order at risk
health problems the patient might have just from the information collected (Weber & Kelly, 2014).
This information can be gathered on a routine visit to a primary care doctor. Even though studies
have shown that collecting family health history can be challenging due to insufficient time to
obtain, organize, and analyze the information (Guttmacher, Collins & Carmona, 2004). However,
obtaining an accurate family health history will give a greater insight into diseases that the patient is
at risk for and suggest recommendations for the care they may need. When a patient discloses a

Family History : An Individual Essay
Family history is very important to an individual. By knowing where you come from, you can have
a better perspective of your life and of others. Every person has a different origin, a different story
to tell, and it's up to the next generation to share the story of their ancestry to future generations. The
paternal side of my family originated in Ireland, they later came over through Elis Island and
resided in Waukon, Iowa. Throughout time my family moved and expanded, as generations past the
McKenna name would broadened.
My great–grandmother Ann was born in 1923 on a small rural farm just off the blacktop of Bluffton,
Iowa. Churning butter, collecting eggs, and tending to the livestock cultivated the strong work ethic,
she soon would pass on to her children and grandchildren. She attended a small town school with a
grand total of 25 kids; Ann graduated with an eighth grade education. As time went on and she
passed her schooling; she acquired jobs doing house work for others, but the pay was only 25 cents
a week. Instead of continuing her low paying job she decided it would be best to work on the farm.
While doing this she became close to her neighbor, William McKenna. The pair had attended the
same church and saw each other often, they eventually started dating. On May 29, 1939 the two
were married and they would soon start their ever–expanding family. After their wedding Ann and
William purchased a small farm where they would soon begin their living.

Family History: Tapestry
When we start researching, it seems like our family history will be a never–ending tapestry of
people and events. New lineages spread out in all directions and exciting connections with history
and with other families are discovered. The numbers of different lines of family which can be
researched, and the diversity of their lives and experiences, seem to offer vast opportunities for
storytelling. Gradually, we add new knots and threads to the tapestry to create pictures, sometimes
vague and sometimes distinct, of the many people who came before us. However, at some stage we
run out of threads to add to our tapestry. The records dry up, every available cousin and great–aunt

Benefits Of A Family History
There are a number of pros and cons that come with therapists taking a detailed family history. An
advantage in taking a full family history is that it allows therapists to help their clients learn from
their family history by developing a healthy perspective on their past. Instructing the clients to
reflect on their past can help them come to terms and provide a sense of comfort in facing their past.
Another reason is that it helps the therapist gain a fuller understanding of the family. Getting full
details of family history is important to understand the past events that have occurred. Here the
therapist may have plans for the family 's treatment for therapy and therapeutic goals each member
can obtain. Asking the right questions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many benefits of making it mandatory for the entire family to attend the initial session. In
the initial session, the therapist goes over the confidentiality of the therapy, goals of treatment, share
what the family will expect, and listens to each member 's viewpoint of their problems and the
reason why they are seeking treatment. The initial session can show the therapist how the family
communicates and gets to observe the dynamic of the family. Also in the initial session, the therapist
will establish a therapeutic alliance with the clients. The therapist is here for each member of the
family and will remain objective. Clients are not just in therapy to talk about their problems, they
are here to become stronger as individuals and as a family as a whole.
A limitation of making it mandatory for the entire family to attend the initial session is that it may
be hard to control. When the whole family is together, it may lead to lots of shouting which can
cause the session to take a negative turn. The members can get out of control and ultimately the
session will be counterproductive to the treatment process. It is important that members speak at one
time and give each member a chance to express their feelings. Another limitation is that some
members may prefer to speak individually rather than in a larger group. When required to
participate in a group therapy, they may feel uncomfortable and be unwilling to engage.

The Importance Of Family History
Knowing our family history is essential to understanding ourselves and basic humanity and
diversity. Family history helps to keep memories alive and allow each generation to have an idea of
who they are and where they come from. It helps to provide meaningful connections to our
ancestors. Old photos, letters, and journals give us a glimpse into what our ancestors were really
like. Family histories are passed down to generations in the form of stories. As a young kid, I used
to cajole my grandfather to repeat his childhood stories over and over again before I went to bed.
As I recall, my great grandfather, Pir Mohammad and mother, Jenna, were born in Abad Pura, a

Unlike my grandfather, my dad got a chance to go to school in his village but he couldn't continue
his education for very long. He studied from nine in the morning to two in the afternoon and helped

creating religious divisions between Hindus and Muslims. In 1947, the British finally left India and
the subcontinent was partitioned into two independent nation states: Hindu–majority India and

Reflection Of My Family History
What I am today is the reflection of my family's history. History of endeavors, pains, failures and
growth. One evening, I was talking to my grandma and she started telling about our family. At first,
it seemed quite boring, but ended up in tears and made me learn the most important lesson of my
life. It was quite a deep thing to realize for a kid but fortunately and eventually I understood. It
started with my dad's childhood. After my grandfather suffered health problems, at a very young age
of 10, my dad had to take the charge of his family because that time my family didn't had money
even for bread. My dad worked at a bookstore from morning till evening and after the long day of
work. He could earn just about to fill their stomachs. But after my father, he had one brother and
three sisters and their education and despite being a lady who were not usually allowed to earn back
then, my grandma started working for VDC. Sadly, in the Nepalese–Indian societies, people aren't
judged keeping their hard work, talents in the mind. And, those who want to grow are pulled
backwards due to jealousy. In time of need nobody showed up, and helping seemed bragging only.
After all endeavors, striving and thriving, today what we are up to is the result of the sacrifice of my
grandma and my dad's childhood; However, with our heads high, we are proud, and are happy to
have a self–made life and respect in the society. Though, I was not a part of what happened, but I

The Transnational History of a Chinese Family
Life as an Immigrant Beginning in the late 19th century and continuing to the early 20th century,
many Chinese families struggled to gain social, economic, and educational stature in both China and
the United States. In the book, A Transnational History of a Chinese Family, by Haiming Liu, we
learn about the Chang family rooted in Kaiping County, China, who unlike many typical Chinese
families' exemplified hard–work and strong cultural values allowing them to pursue an exceptional
Chinese–American lifestyle. Even with immigration laws preventing Chinese laborers and citizens
to enter unless maintaining merchant status, Yitang and Sam Chang managed to sponsor

These relationships he would later be able utilize in testimony when helping his family migrate to
the U.S, a key role in the economic success of the businesses. Like we discussed in lecture, most
Chinese immigrants were laborers and did not receive many pleasant encounters with white men.
Although Yitang was seen by many Americans as a valuable Chinese immigrant, he and his family
members still received discrimination other immigrants had to face. Their thriving asparagus farm
did not have as many social benefits as the herbalist business did, but the farm was their main
source of income, and with this they were able to provide for their families while living
transnationally.
Once the Chang family moved into Los Angeles and had their herbalist shop and asparagus farm
under way, they realized the need for more laborers. In order to support their wives and kids with
groceries, clothing, and education, the Chang's needed to find the cheapest labor possible while still
establishing the farm as a business that could support their income. The cheapest laborers were
relatives, and they were for the most part thankful to come and work for Yitang, even if it was not
their ideal working situation. One frustration Sam expressed in the book that may correlate to the
continuing poor treatment and vision of the Chinese, is that within the Chinese workforce, most
hard–working laborers in the railroad, farming, mining, and

later years moved over to the United States to get a better life and like people would say "restart" in
the new life of America. Drury descendants lived in Massachusetts as early as 1651. I researched
our history only as far back as my great grandfather who is James Amos Drury, born in the year of
1827 or near that time. There are pieces from the family history that are missing or we could just not
figure out but I tried my best to find all the information I could. James died December 9, 1862 and is
buried at National Cemetery, Plot 4 – 1862, Grave #6100, Section B, Nashville, Tennessee. He
enlisted January, 1862 in the Civil War from his home state of Indiana where he resided with his
family near Pendleton. He was stricken with chronic diarrhea and died at Hospital number 12 at

History Of The Mexican-American Family
Our family history is rooted in Texas and Mexico. Discussing our family history with my parents
and relatives I have found that my grand–parents and great grandparents were born and raised in
Texas. They moved back and forth between Mexico and Texas for work. Both sides of our family
always sought work and better opportunities for their families. Our families have been made up of
strong men who worked mostly as laborers. My grandfathers and great–grand fathers worked in
cotton fields, as ranch hands, migrant workers known as "Campesinos", "Brazeros" or laborers,
sheered sheep and have even been grave diggers. Working in many different manual labors in the
Del Rio, Austin and Hill Country area of Brady and Seguin, always working hard for their families.

Some of my family is unable to vote due to immigration status, but they still held strong political
opinions. In the late 1890's to early 1900's my great–great grandfather paid his "Poll–Tax" and
encouraged those he knew to pay it so that they could vote, too. As Mexican–Americans in Texas
they wanted to have equal opportunities for all regardless of race and origin. Trying to help establish
equal opportunities for all people my great–great grandfather worked to advance and promote an
organization that is still in existence today, LULAC. The fundamental beliefs of the Democratic
Party were aligned with what they were working so hard for. Looking back at some the past
Presidential elections my family has only supported the Democratic party. Some of the candidates
my family mentioned they supported were John F. Kennedy, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and most
recently Hillary Clinton. These candidates gained our family support because of our belief that the
Democratic party stands for helping the working class, the laborers, equality for all citizens and help

(Hopper 2007) This was life for Stephan and Elizabeth before they traveled to Canada and following
their immigration they flipped the idea of "old culture" on its head. It is understood that the new
conceptions of immigrants no longer reflects on the permanent rupture, of the uprooted, the
abandonment of old patterns and the painful learning of a new language and culture. Though,
Stephan and Elizabeth did struggle, they became the new kind of the migrating population.
Composed of those whose networks, actions and patterns of life incorporate both their host and
home societies. Their lives cut across national boundaries and bring two societies into a single social
field. It is known that the new conceptualization is needed in order to understand the experience and
consciousness of this new migrant population. This conceptualization is transnationalism, building a
social field that links their old country of origin and their new county of settlement. (Schiller, Basch
& Blanc 1992) These transnational diaspora communities develop for multiple reasons including,
family, economy, and religion; for my family it is specifically how Stephan and Ella are defined.
Times were good in Canada, the Glosneks built successful lives for themselves and their growing
families and had often spoke of their time apart as a vacation compared to the extreme hardship they
had actually experienced during those years. In 1959 Ella Glosnek met Anton Sinko at a church

Family Religious History
I grew up with my maternal grandparents in China. From an early age, I was taught the notion of
filial piety, paying respect to elderly members while making concessions to the younger members. It
plays a central role in my family as well as the families in which my grandparents came from.
My grandmother is born in a scholarly family heavily influenced by teachings of Confucianism.
Strict rules apply to how children should behave to show respect to adults. For instance, children are
not allowed to eat before adults begin eating, which exemplifies the belief that parents are
authoritative over children. Unlike her parents, my grandmother is not keen on being an
authoritative figure. She believes that a mutually respectful relationship with everyone regardless of
age is the key to a harmonious family. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have adopted a secular view on traditions. Rather than accepting filial piety as an obligation, I see
it as a guide to the moral conducts. Making sacrifices means more of a duty to preserve my cultural
identity than a religious experience.
My grandfather, on the other hand, is from a poor, rural family. Although his family did not enforce
a harsh discipline which is derived from the notion of filial piety, he is the most pious devotee to
traditional practices in my family and sees filial piety as an obligation. It is his way of showing
reverence to his mother, who changed his course of life. Despite the meager income, my great
grandmother insisted on him to complete his college education so that he could find work that
allows him to escape poverty. He feels heavily indebted to

Family Background And History : Family
Family background and history (F): As I have mentioned previously, I grew up in a divorced family
from a very young age. I lived with my mom, sister and grandma for about four years until my mom
remarried and moved across the country. My sister and I then moved in with my dad for about six
years until I left for college. I have moved a lot in my life and it has resulted in me feeling like I
really do not have a home at all, just a series of houses that I've lived in for a few years at a time. I
think I'm very aware of all the different types of family combinations that there are today, although I
could do a better job of educating myself about what kinds of struggles and positive experiences
each type of family style has.
I do have a prejudice towards a certain family type. This is because I have some resentment towards
happily married couple with two or three kids who have lived in the same house together their entire
lives. I should know better than this though, just because they seem to be perfect on the outside does
not mean that they're really a big happy family all the time.
Unique Physical Characteristics (U): I have to admit to submitting myself to the impossible
standards of beauty that our society holds us to. I have always had extremely low self–esteem
because I am highly uncomfortable with my weight and my complexion. I really need to start
developing a healthier respect for myself. It would be extremely hypocritical of me if I'm working

Family History: Christopher Columbus
It is important to study history so you can improve on your life and make better choices.
We use history every day to make choices whether we realize it or not. From something as simple as
slowing down on a certain stretch of road because you know that the area is frequented by police to
finding a solution to a problem by thinking back from past experiences and knowing what works
and what doesn't work. History provides context of who you are as a person. Studying your own
family history is a great way to find out what part of the world the earliest members of your family
are from.

Ready to colonize the island and retrieve as much gold and resources as the island would give. What
he found was the native tribesmen were not as timid and weak as he had thought when he first left
for Spain. A group of Taino revolted against the raping of their women and stealing of their property
and killed all of the men he had left behind. Columbus and the new population of Europeans began
building the new city of Isabella. Once Isabella was built, Columbus began heading to the center of
the island to where the gold was. At this point the Europeans were beginning to dominate over the
local tribesmen and enacted Indian slavery as well as a tribute in gold.
The Taino and the Europeans were no longer coexisting in any way or form. The Taino people were
slaves, property of the explorers. The Taino now existed only to serve the needs of the Europeans.
Columbus underestimated the amount of gold on the island and knowing that the resources that kept
him in power were going away the Europeans moved on to find new islands and land where they
could find more resources to send back to the Spanish

Genealogy Is The Study Of Family History
Are you interested in history? Are you interested in learning about what your relatives did before
you? Genealogy is the study of family history. Genealogy is a fun yet addictive hobby. To get started
in genealogy there are two steps to start searching for your family history. The first step towards
starting your family tree is to gather as much information from living relatives. It is a good idea to
interview as many different relatives as you can. There are several ways one can go about
preserving your family history. One can use a video camera and take video of the relative. Another
method for getting the information down is to audio record an interview with the relative. Yet if one
so desires they could also take notes on a computer. Note taking on a computer is an easier form to
record the family information in. However you decide to record your information be sure to get your
relative 's permission before choosing a method. It may make them uncomfortable if you are
interviewing them with a video camera without prior notice. What kinds of questions should one ask
when starting a genealogical interview? Some example questions could be: Asking your relative
when they were born; What they remember as a child; or family stories. Family stories are excellent
sources of information since they give greater insight into other family members. The best way to
get family information is to get as many family stories in as much detail. Once you get all the details

the family gets together. Moses 6:5–8 and again in verse 46 "This history of the dealings of God
with his people and the experiences they had constitutes our present scripture. It is nothing more or
less than sacred family history. Because it was written under the influence of the Spirit of the Holy
Ghost, it became scripture" (Theodore M. Burton, "The Inspiration of a Family Record," Ensign,
Jan. 1977, 17). President Spencer W. Kimball said: "I urge all of the people of this church to ...

geared to spark ideas for a family history. The journal was to write down their memories that the
questions brought up. Several years ago, our branch had a fall harvest dinner and opened our

A History Of The Gilpin Family
A history of the Gilpin Family in America From 1685 to 1810 (Change title) The Gilpin family,
have been an integral part of American History since their arrival in 1695. The family, who arrived,
as part of an initial large wave of Quakers in America, carved out a place in American, more
specifically Quaker History. Coming to America, at the invitation of William Penn, and deeply
embroiled in significant events in American History, the Gilpin 's were early founders of
Pennsylvania. Their Quaker background proved to be of primary importance in precisely how the
family participated in important events, like the American Revolution. From their peaceful relations
with Indians to their involvement in the American Revolution, their pacifist belief system influenced
their action. However, not all members of the Gilpin family remained pacifists. While one member
Thomas Gilpin held fast to his Quaker beliefs during the American Revolution, another, Colonel
George Gilpin, Became a close confidant of George Washington eventually serving as Pallbearer at
Washington 's funeral. . The Quakers were different from many of the settlers of other early
American colonies. The Quakers, also known as the Society of Friends, were built upon ideals of
pacifism and benevolence. They did not come here as traders or merchants. The Quakers came here
for religious freedom, as did many others. However, Quakers, who had experienced persecution in

My Family History
During my excessive research on my family background, I found that I had major complication
learning about my history. The reason for this was because my family was brought to a country that
totally wiped out my ancestor's culture. The only part I understand of my family history is slavery.
We started out as slaves in when first brought to America. We were originally from West Africa. We
lived in places such Nigeria, Congo, and Ghana. This was a time when we owned our land and
freedom. However, around the late 1500s, the western European culture had finally discovered our
deeply rooted heritage. They saw that beautiful land we had nourished, They saw the love within
our community. They saw the resource we provided. They realized the strength we had as a people.
Soon the western Europeans felt that needed to conquer us and our land. The wanted to prove that
we're able to conquer because of the more industrialized military they had. They forced my people
to move to a unformal land that conquered from another culture of people. So after arrival to the
new world, the European immediately forced my ancestors to change their names. They gave us our
names of our slave owners. This resulted in my ancestors to being someone's property. My ancestors
worked day in and day out in the hot sun; picking cotton, building houses, growing crops and being
housemaids. The European's would soon transition into what we know today as Americans. For the
next four hundred years, the Americans

People suffering with anxiety disorder of some kind are three to five times more likely to go to the

of cognitive performance like anxiety. The researchers also found that a lack of PC7 in the brain can
also result in an excess of dopamine in the brain. The team tested this new approach by modifying a

The team tested the effects of this new drug on mice that were lacking PC7, they found that it was a

drug could increase the levels of dopamine in the bran, which would then normalize the brains

My Complicated Family History
The mix of my complicated family history and my strong supportive mother have shaped me into
the person that I am today. My biological father, Clint, battled with a secret drug addiction that my
sweet mother knew nothing about until it was too late. When I was only a year old, the drug
addiction had gotten the best of Clint and he made the decision to take his own life, leaving me and
my mother heart broken. Clint's choices impacted my life in such ways that I cannot explain.
Growing up, it was just me and my mother until I was four, however, in this time we took the bad
situation that we were in and we did not let it get the best of us. We chose to move forward and to
take positive things from this horrific time. We learned through this experience that life goes on. No
matter how hard the situation is, you must move on. Learning this mentality at such a young age has
taught me that I cannot fret the small things, I have to look at the bigger picture because that is what
really matters. My mother is truly such an amazing woman and her guidance has shaped me into the

Essay On My Family History

  • 1. Essay on My Family History My Family History Family history is very important to an individual. By knowing where you come from, you can have a better perspective of your life. Having a clear understanding of your family background allows you to better appreciate the things that you would normally take for granted. The house, the car, and the average clothing may look better when one sees the sacrifices their family has made. They will see that their family has worked very hard just so their family can experience the better things in life. A persons roots and origin is one of the most important things to explore. It alone can bring you closer to self–discovery. There are two sides to a person's family and one side of my family has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of these is that on Thanksgiving everybody comes together to my parents' house in New Jersey for a huge feast. On Christmas only my mother and the children (me and my brother) travel to Illinois to spend a week with my grandparents. On New Years Eve we all get together at my parents' house in New Jersey and toast to the New Year with champagne and apple cider. During Labor Day weekend all of my family travels to South Jersey to my grandfathers' condo. We usually spend all of our time on the beach and barbequing, except on Sunday when we go to church. After all, my grandfather is a minister. One of our biggest family traditions is going back to Puerto Rico. Every year my mother and I travel back to Puerto Rico for a portion of our summer vacation. Now that I am older I travel there more often and stay there much longer. My father never joins because he doesn't like my mothers side of the father too much and he thinks that we when we speak Spanish we are all plotting against him. Of course that's not true though. My bother doesn't speak Spanish so he doesn't like to go either. I guess that tradition is one that belongs solely to my mother and I. The role of the people in family basically stayed the same for most of the generations with a little change in the later generations. Earlier the males were the only ones that worked in the family and the wife stayed at home and took care of the house and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Based on the family history given by the proband, the pedigree formed interprets that there are multiple diseases that are common within the family. Even though the proband has already been diagnosed with hypertension, diabetes and high cholesterol, there are still opportunities to reduce the effects of these diseases and improve health along with lifestyle. The information on family history also promotes an opportunity for the proband and significant other to guide their children in a better direction to prevent the common diseases in the family. Moreover, the proband also does not know any health history relating to her brother and her maternal uncle, both who are still alive. • 3. Family History Research Paper Why is it important to know your family history? How does it impact your life? These are the questions that helped me realize how important your family history is, so today I will be telling you about my family history. My story tells you about the struggle for people from the West Indies to come to America. It all started on a little island of Trinidad and Tobago were the native people lived. They had no worries no troubles they just lived life the way they should be, until one day when their lives were turned upside down. White men from America came and started talking people and forcing them out of their homes and putting them on slave boats. • 4. Reflection Of History : The History Of My Family History is defined as the study of the science of humanity in the past. It's a broad subject that spans over countless people groups throughout the years that the world has been around. Even before the times we have written word history was still being made, and it is still extremely important. We tend to forget that in our average day to day lives we are still making history. That all over the globe everyone is taking part in what might be in a history book someday. History isn't always the glamorous and fast paced events like war, but sometimes it's just explaining things the average Joe might experience during his time on the Earth. This paper will not have any war or conflicts that are life or death for the delicate system of a community, but it's history nonetheless. The History of my family and how it connects to bring us decades later to where we are today. First, is my mother Robin Elisabeth Seymour's side, and her parents are Bobby Louise Tierce and Maddie Elisabeth Tierce. My grandfather, Bobby Louise Tierce, was born in 1936 in Texas to Malvin and Dewlee Tierce. He spent his childhood in Coffeeville, Mississippi as the son of a farmer. In the spring of 1955 he graduated at Coffeeville High. After his graduation he spent a few years going between jobs until he finally landed a job in Construction as a run boy. In 1957 he found a job at Avondale ship yard as a welder, until he was drafted by Uncle Sam to Germany in 1958 where he remained for two years. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Trace My Family History I was able to trace my family history as far back as my Great grandparents on my mother's side. I learned some very interesting and shocking facts about their lives and the struggles they had to endure. My Great grandparents adoptive my mother and twin sister at the age 2 because their parents were unable to care for them properly. They welcomed them with open arms and raised both of them as if they were their own. My Great grandfather was named James Allen Barnes, he was one of 5 sibling who was born in March of 1913. My Great grandmother was named Miriam Etta Troxler, she was one of 4 sisters who was born in December 1915. James and Miriam were both born in Greensboro, N.C. My Great grandparents both had suffered great loses at very young ages that would change their lives overnight. James and Miriam fathers who names we do not know were shot on accident during a hunting trip and died. Their fathers were not on the same hunting trip and did not know each other. After the deaths of their fathers, James had to quit school at the age of 15 to help his mother pay bills by delivering newspapers and Miriam and her sisters were split up to live in different homes. The main reason Miriam and her sisters were separated was due her mother not being able to support all the girls on her own. Miriam never saw or heard from her sisters ever again. Both families struggled tremendously during The Great Depression. During a dance in 1930 the two met and were married at the ages of 15 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Family History Research Paper Family history is very important to an individual. By knowing where you come from, you can have a better perspective of life. As I have grown up I have noticed that my entire background has influenced by who I am. After interviewing my parents, I realized that they don't have much knowledge about our ancestral history. I find that our history is regrettably limiting. Because most of the history has been passed down verbally. According to my dad's, our ancestors are from southern China. He explained that after Chinese expanded their power large populations of Hmongs were forced to travel further south into Indochina. From a period of time, the populations of Hmong in Indochina lived relatively peacefully. However, the French occupation disrupts their peaceful lives. After WWII, communist Vietnam grew in power which leads to the overthrow of the French involvement in Indochina and ultimately the start of the Vietnam War. ... In addition to this task, Hmong soldiers were trained to find and rescue downed American pilots. As the US's failure to prevent communist North Vietnam from taking over, American troops began leaving Indochina and simply deserted their Hmong allies. After American troops leave Indochina the new communist Laos government initiated a campaign to eradicate all Hmong. This campaign left Tens of thousands of Hmongs fleeing from Laos. You'll be off and running. You'll be seen in cemeteries copying information onto tablets. Pictures of headstones will start appearing on your blog posts. Older family members will begin to look forward to your "long verbal communications" and graphic visits. They may wonder how you can talk so much and ask so many questions, and it's all fun. Bring along some donuts, and settle in for discussions of stagecoach travels. The pages of New York's family history are old, tattered and sometimes water–stained, but you won't even notice. Inhaling the century old–dust of ancient deed and tax ledgers will become your new preferred perfume. Begin Your Investigations At Home Beginning your search at home ... People want to write about their experiences and their family. Times change rapidly, and old homes are replaced by paved parking lots and shopping centers. The first thought that popped into my mind was; "I do not need to learn anything else about history at this point in my life/career, I have learned all I needed to know about history in grade school and high school". After multiple failed attempts at trying to convince my counselor why I should not have to take history, I realizing that there was no way around taking this course. Understand our family heritage gives one a sense of pride. History teaches us about our language and our roots. Knowing the history of your family can help prove a sense of identity because getting to know yourself gives you the opportunity to understand new things about culture. This will result in you realize who you really are. Learning the history of your people will form a connection to certain customs, values, and beliefs. I have learned many stories of my family history from just talking to the elderly within my family. Stories about their trials and tribulation of those previous generations show me how far we came overall. I have passed on those same stories along to the generation under me and emphasized how important it is for them to do the same. • 10. Family History Reflection Reflection of My Family History What can I say about my family? Honestly, hardly know jack shit about my family's history. As of now, I know that both my Biological parents were born in Puerto Rico. In addition, please be mindful that the man who is supposedly is my biological father; I did not have a chance to meet his ass until I was 24 years old. Furthermore, I never would have met this fucking man had it not been for me calling my Titi Carmen (Aunty Carmen) in Puerto Rico. Before I go too deep into my family's history, I think it would be best for you guys to get a little bit of my background, my first family, the streets of New York City. For starters, I was born and raised in the most violent poverty–stricken section of New York City, The South Bronx. I managed to survive two epidemics, (the crack, and the aids epidemic). I was born in the early seventies. The Bronx to me looked like a fucking warzone, a vast wasteland, where it was not uncommon to see the rats roam free amongst the debris of the streets of New York City; along with the huge water bugs (Cucarachas Grandes), it is what we Ricans in the hood use to call them. These big ass roaches were disgusting; these motherfuckers had wings on them too. So them suckers could fly and shit. I cringe as I writing this shit thinking about them nasty ass disgusting roaches. The shit I had to deal with growing up in this bitch! I still remember, I swear to you guys going to the bathroom was some scary ass shit, like a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is unfortunate because some people do not or are unable to value their families past. Family history is important for many different reasons. It can be used to meet family members a person never knew about and for educational purpose. I was fortunate enough to have my grandparents still alive to tell me about their great–grandparents and grandparents. Children were also missing school for work and working long debilitating hours. Children often worked in factories because they were small and more children could fit intern this would lead to more work getting done. Children also had smaller hands and this allowed them to fix machines if they were broken. However, machines are dangerous and would sometimes injure or cut off a hand or finger of a child. In present day there are many laws benefiting how many hours a child can work based on their age. "The federal child labor provisions, authorized by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) of 1938, also known as the child labor laws, were enacted to ensure that when young people work, the work is safe and does not jeopardize their health, well–being or educational opportunities. • 16. Family History : An Individual Essay Family history is very important to an individual. By knowing where you come from, you can have a better perspective of your life and of others. Every person has a different origin, a different story to tell, and it's up to the next generation to share the story of their ancestry to future generations. The paternal side of my family originated in Ireland, they later came over through Elis Island and resided in Waukon, Iowa. Throughout time my family moved and expanded, as generations past the McKenna name would broadened. My great–grandmother Ann was born in 1923 on a small rural farm just off the blacktop of Bluffton, Iowa. Churning butter, collecting eggs, and tending to the livestock cultivated the strong work ethic, she soon would pass on to her children and grandchildren. She attended a small town school with a grand total of 25 kids; Ann graduated with an eighth grade education. As time went on and she passed her schooling; she acquired jobs doing house work for others, but the pay was only 25 cents a week. Instead of continuing her low paying job she decided it would be best to work on the farm. While doing this she became close to her neighbor, William McKenna. The pair had attended the same church and saw each other often, they eventually started dating. On May 29, 1939 the two were married and they would soon start their ever–expanding family. After their wedding Ann and William purchased a small farm where they would soon begin their living. My great–grandmother ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gradually, we add new knots and threads to the tapestry to create pictures, sometimes vague and sometimes distinct, of the many people who came before us. In the initial session, the therapist goes over the confidentiality of the therapy, goals of treatment, share what the family will expect, and listens to each member 's viewpoint of their problems and the reason why they are seeking treatment. The initial session can show the therapist how the family communicates and gets to observe the dynamic of the family. Also in the initial session, the therapist will establish a therapeutic alliance with the clients. The therapist is here for each member of the family and will remain objective. Clients are not just in therapy to talk about their problems, they are here to become stronger as individuals and as a family as a whole. A limitation of making it mandatory for the entire family to attend the initial session is that it may be hard to control. When the whole family is together, it may lead to lots of shouting which can cause the session to take a negative turn. The members can get out of control and ultimately the session will be counterproductive to the treatment process. It is important that members speak at one time and give each member a chance to express their feelings. Another limitation is that some members may prefer to speak individually rather than in a larger group. When required to participate in a group therapy, they may feel uncomfortable and be unwilling to engage. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One evening, I was talking to my grandma and she started telling about our family. At first, it seemed quite boring, but ended up in tears and made me learn the most important lesson of my life. It was quite a deep thing to realize for a kid but fortunately and eventually I understood. It started with my dad's childhood. After my grandfather suffered health problems, at a very young age of 10, my dad had to take the charge of his family because that time my family didn't had money even for bread. My dad worked at a bookstore from morning till evening and after the long day of work. He could earn just about to fill their stomachs. But after my father, he had one brother and three sisters and their education and despite being a lady who were not usually allowed to earn back then, my grandma started working for VDC. Although Yitang was seen by many Americans as a valuable Chinese immigrant, he and his family members still received discrimination other immigrants had to face. Their thriving asparagus farm did not have as many social benefits as the herbalist business did, but the farm was their main source of income, and with this they were able to provide for their families while living transnationally. Once the Chang family moved into Los Angeles and had their herbalist shop and asparagus farm under way, they realized the need for more laborers. In order to support their wives and kids with groceries, clothing, and education, the Chang's needed to find the cheapest labor possible while still establishing the farm as a business that could support their income. The cheapest laborers were relatives, and they were for the most part thankful to come and work for Yitang, even if it was not their ideal working situation. • 34. My Family History During my excessive research on my family background, I found that I had major complication learning about my history. The reason for this was because my family was brought to a country that totally wiped out my ancestor's culture. The only part I understand of my family history is slavery. We started out as slaves in when first brought to America. We were originally from West Africa. We lived in places such Nigeria, Congo, and Ghana. This was a time when we owned our land and freedom. However, around the late 1500s, the western European culture had finally discovered our deeply rooted heritage. They saw that beautiful land we had nourished, They saw the love within our community. They saw the resource we provided. They realized the strength we had as a people. Soon the western Europeans felt that needed to conquer us and our land. The wanted to prove that we're able to conquer because of the more industrialized military they had. They forced my people to move to a unformal land that conquered from another culture of people. So after arrival to the new world, the European immediately forced my ancestors to change their names. They gave us our names of our slave owners. This resulted in my ancestors to being someone's property. My ancestors worked day in and day out in the hot sun; picking cotton, building houses, growing crops and being housemaids. The European's would soon transition into what we know today as Americans. For the next four hundred years, the Americans ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Family Health History Family Health History Report Everyone feels anxiety as some point in their life time. However, I cannot remember a moment that I didn't have anxiety of some sort. As well as me, my dad and Aunt also both had suffered and continue to this day to have anxiety; however they didn't let it take control of them. For me, I started to let the anxiety rule my life, it was taking me over. I found myself in the passenger seat of my mom's car crying, shaking, and pleading my mom to not make me go into a writing camp I was taking. That was the end of the line for me, I had to get help. I needed to control the anxiety, so I started to go to therapy. There I learned a lot about anxiety and what it really is. Anxiety can be described in many ways. For some ... People suffering with anxiety disorder of some kind are three to five times more likely to go to the doctor and six times more likely to be hospitalized for psychiatric reasons. With all types of anxiety women are twice as likely to be affected as men. Also, Anxiety disorder cost the U.S more than 42 million dollars a year, which is almost one–third of the country's 148 million dollar total mental health bill. However, more research is coming to light. Recently a team of Montreal researchers at the IRCM discovered that the protein PC7 plays a crucial role in the brain by causing certain types of cognitive performance like anxiety. The researchers also found that a lack of PC7 in the brain can also result in an excess of dopamine in the brain. The team tested this new approach by modifying a drug that is used against Alzheimer's disease in order to block the action of dopamine in the brain. The team tested the effects of this new drug on mice that were lacking PC7, they found that it was a success in reducing the levels of dopamine in the brain. The team of researchers believe that the drug could increase the levels of dopamine in the bran, which would then normalize the brains reaction to cause ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. My Complicated Family History The mix of my complicated family history and my strong supportive mother have shaped me into the person that I am today. My biological father, Clint, battled with a secret drug addiction that my sweet mother knew nothing about until it was too late. When I was only a year old, the drug addiction had gotten the best of Clint and he made the decision to take his own life, leaving me and my mother heart broken. Clint's choices impacted my life in such ways that I cannot explain. Growing up, it was just me and my mother until I was four, however, in this time we took the bad situation that we were in and we did not let it get the best of us. We chose to move forward and to take positive things from this horrific time. We learned through this experience that life goes on. No matter how hard the situation is, you must move on. Learning this mentality at such a young age has taught me that I cannot fret the small things, I have to look at the bigger picture because that is what really matters. My mother is truly such an amazing woman and her guidance has shaped me into the young woman that I am. We have battled through so many hardships together but she has always taught me that I can and will get through everything life throws at me. I know how rare it is for relationships to work out like the way our families did, but it is truly a gift from God. I refer to Scott as my father, and he treats me no different than he treats his biological son, and my best friend Riley. I catch myself feeling as though I have a relatively normal life, but when I take a step back and look, my life had the opportunity to go in a very negative direction and truthfully I had a good reason for it to so. However, my mother and I chose to move on and today we do live a relatively normal day to day ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Family History Research Paper I chose number three (Family story) for my family history project because I wanted to talk about the great events that happened within our family history. I was born in a Christian family. It all began with my great–great grandparents when they were converted by American missionaries around the 1900s. They had a daughter, my great grandma, named Chung–Sun. She was born on December 12, 1913 in Pyongyang, right now the capital city of North Korea. She was the only daughter in her family. She was also baptized when she was an infant by an American missionary and he gave her the name, Maria. Every Sunday, she went to church with her parents, that was her happiest childhood memory. Before she was born, Japan occupied Korea in 1910. Nine years ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 38. Family Health History To gain an understanding of my family health history I wanted to talk to my grandfather but, he travels a lot for work. So instead I talked to my mom to get my maternal health history. First, I asked her if there was a common cause of death on her side that she knows of. Sadly, that answer was yes. There has been a lot of heart issues that have led to death on my maternal side. One of my mother's grandfathers and her mother died of cardiomyopathy which is a hereditary heart disease. My grandpa takes medications for hypertension (high blood pressure). My mother mentioned that he smoked most of his life up until I was born. She said since I was the first grandchild of his, he wanted to stay alive as long as possible. I have two aunts and one uncle on my mother's side. His dad (my grandfather) had 15 siblings with nine living still. Out of those nine, three are diagnosed alcoholics. After he explained the struggle with alcohol his family has had, he told me to be very conscious of how much I am drinking. He has four children living with him and one of them has type 1 Diabetes. This is less worrisome than the rest of the health issues because no one else in the family has it. It is an autoimmune disorder and isn't usually passed through generations. Most of the advice I received from family was to eat healthy and be active. Also to be adamant on getting a yearly physical to stay up to date with my health. My grandma was 41 when she died, so getting check–ups as soon as possible will be beneficial. After obtaining all this health history, I got a little worried.
