Evaluation Of The District 2014 Lcap Stakeholder 's...
The data used to determine the need for my OCDE, preliminary administrative credential program,
fieldwork project was first through a suggestion from my principal. Upon my first meeting with my
principal, I reviewed my vision from CPSEL 1 course. At that time, I shared since I was a school
psychologist, I would like to conduct a project that not only would assist with an increase of student
learning but would also revolve around the last statement of my vision – to provide positive
supports for students to develop into mentally healthy resilient individuals. My principal suggested
that I review the district 2014 LCAP stakeholder's surveys (see attached document), as well as the
2014 DLAC committee survey. She also suggested that I discuss ideas with our Assistant
Superintendent, Dr. Lorraine Test. I had worked with Dr. Test when she was a teacher and a
principal for many years, so I was excited about collaborating with her on this project (CPSEL 1.2,
1.3 & 5.1). During my meeting with Dr. Test, we discussed the 2014 LCAP district surveys. At the
end of the survey, for each stakeholder, was an open ended question, asking for the stakeholders top
three suggesting of needs for their school. 93% of Staff 64% of Parents 74% of Students Indicated a
need for social skills training, counseling services or some types of supports in the school to provide
more help with student's behaviors and emotional needs. Dr. Test and I reviewed other data

Schools Are Made Up From Various Members Of Staff
Schools are made up from various members of staff who each have different roles and
responsibilities these are as follows: • School governors.
Schools typically have a team of 10–12 people who act as their governors if the school is larger
there could be more. The schools governors have the responsibility of ensuring that the school runs
smoothly. The governing body is made up of at least one parent and one staff governor, a local
authority governor appointed by the local authority, a local community governor who should work
and/or live in the community that the school is situated in. These governors will work with the head
teacher who also serves as a governor as well as a senior management team.

Counselor Requirements
Interpersonal Communication– Interpersonal communication is essential and inescapable. Whether
you are communicating verbally or non–verbally, you cannot not communicate. Communication is
complicated and complex, to say the least. It is irreversible and once you say something, you can't
take it back. When dealing with children it is very petrifying. The wrong use of words or nonverbal
cue could have an impending effect on children.
Empathy also plays a role in the enhancement of a child's life. As an effective counselor, it is
parallel to understand where an individual has come from and what they have been through. This
understanding will help the child feel more accepted and secure. That, in turn, will aid in the

Is Education A Moral And Civilised Society Which Is At...
Education's main goal is to establish a "civilised, moral and contented society which is at ease with
itself" (Hayes, 2008). This interpretation of education is one which I have seen gather meaning
throughout my placement, if posed with the question 'what is the aim of education?' prior to my
placement my response would have been a generic and standard answer referring to the possibilities
of getting a job in the future and to meet government and societies standards. But my time on
placement has allowed me to reflect upon and respond to the excellent teaching I have witnessed
which has had a focus on meeting standards but there is an edge to the style of teaching,
characterising how the teacher cares for every single child as an individual and wishes to see them
grow and develop as individuals. This article of work has been broken down into four main sections;
these sections are the main entries from my reflective diary which in my opinion are the most
significant experiences from my time. The first section is focused primarily on how the teachers

class to work and behave for her and how this affects the behaviour management strategies used in
the classroom, secondly I will look at the differentiation between pupils in the classroom, the role of
the teaching assistant in the classroom and finally the use of questioning in the classroom. How

College At Oneonta For My Masters
All of my experiences in life have lead me to apply to SUNY College at Oneonta for my Masters of
Science in Education. I have many goals, both professional and academic that are related to school
counseling. All throughout school I had many inspirational school counselors that molded who I am
today. This set me up for success in my college career. Upon entering college, I began to appreciate
the importance of planning and organization in order to build the life I wanted for myself. While
completing the application process for graduate school I realized that everything I had done over the
years lead to this moment. I thoroughly enjoyed applying for schools, only because I had the
confidence and motivation from my many mentors and counselors surrounding me. My friends
would ask for my assistance everyday during their own educational planning and I knew I wanted to
make a career out of it. During these experiences, I learned the importance of discovering a
meaningful life path. This is the most important aspect I will instill in the students I work with on a
daily basis. I was lucky enough to have an amazing counselor at my undergraduate college. Jennifer
Rooney, Director of Career Development and Engagement at St. Joseph's College, provided me with
amazing advice regarding school counseling. She motivated me to follow through with my dream
and encouraged me to use my past experiences as a way to succeed in the field of School

Essay on I Would Like to Work as a School Psychologist
I Would Like to Work as a School Psychologist
I am interested in being a school psychologist for a variety of reasons. First, I believe that my
background in working with children and families, and my B.A. in psychology are essential
combinations that will be helpful in my pursuit of the degree. Second, I would like to work with
children in a variety of educational situations, such as those in need of special education classes and
those in talented and gifted programs. Third, I believe it is essential to work directly with the entire
family system, not just the child. The child's progress depends on the home environment and the
academic environment equally. This academic environment includes all professions (i.e., teachers, ...

The summer before my junior year in college and for the next three years, I was a part–time nanny
for a 10–year–old girl who was diagnosed with ADHD. I did this on a full–time basis during the
summers. This job gave me an understanding of the effects of medication (Ritalin) on behavior.
These experiences gave me a strong background in working with a diverse group of children.
I also have an extensive training in working with local agencies. The spring semester of my
sophomore year, I began volunteering at the Cedar Valley Hospice for approximately 20 hours a
month. I was trained in the following areas: Patient/Family, Grief, and Cedar AIDS Support System
(CASS) services. Through my work at the CASS, I was responsible for making contacts with a
variety of other agencies on the behalf of my clients, such as the Black Hawk County Health
Department, Operation Threshold, and the Cedar Valley NAMES Project. In this capacity, I did
office work, I was a buddy to an HIV positive individual, and I did face–to–face education panels in
local school and community settings. I was also extensively involved in training future buddies. It
was during this time period that I completed the American Red Cross course work for certification
as an HIV/AIDS educator. In this capacity, I have been a guest speaker in several elementary school
and college courses about HIV/AIDS. The

Support Numeracy Development
A teaching assistant should contribute to the planning, delivery and review of learning activities for
literacy, numeracy, ICT and problem solving when working with children in the class.
They should be familiar with the learning objectives so that they are aware about what the children
will be expected to have achieved by the end of the lesson.
It is important that the teaching assistant meet with their teacher so that everyone is aware of the
area of learning, before the planning itself takes place. This gives a teaching assistant the
opportunity to be involved with planning or learning and suggest and inform the teacher of any
difficulties anticipated when considering the needs of the pupils. Following the lessons it is

Being able to read helps explain written instructions to children, help the teacher if reading aloud to

words.
When discussing numeracy planning, it is important to make sure that the lower ability children are
given a more simplified learning outcome even though the Learning Objective for the whole class
will be the same. It is important to list all appropriate resources and have them on the table ready to
use if necessary. We make sure that each table has white boards and white board pens which helps
all the children during the session. Once the teacher has gone through the learning objective with the
children using the smart board and I am sat in a group who need more support, it is important to ask
the children whether they understand what they have to do. Once this has been done, the teaching

Budget Justification For The Program
Budget Justification
The budget requested in this competitive renewal application is about 20% more than the current
budget. The primary reason for this increase is due to an increased expenditure in breeding animals
and animal service charges as we expanded the use of animals in the proposed grant. In the past 4
years, employee salaries at the UT Heath Center were increased by about 10%. This contributed a
minor fraction of the increase. We used a 3% cost escalation in preparing the budget for future
years.

two other schools in the district. I found the interview enjoyable and interesting.
At Katherine Elementary School Dr. Vandaveer has her own portable where she can test students.

I plan on going into the School Counseling field, so for my interview I went to a long time family

well. She also was an elementary teacher for 10 years prior to becoming a school counselor. Kay

We talked about the staff structure, but Kay, like most school counselors, is the only one at her
school. She works close with teachers, office staff, and the school nurse as well. She said she
personally likes being the only counselor in her setting. I do know that at many high schools in the
regional area there are as many as four school counselors in one school. I asked Kay about her
knowledge of current global issues, and she only mentioned cyber bullying. She said that there are
so many problems with kids being bullied over the internet out of school and it is causing problems
inside the school. She said that this has definitely become more prominent in the past five years and
fears how much worse it can get. She didn't mention any global issues other than that though. Kay
has improved many more lives than she has told me about but what she has told me has amazed me.
She has a love for helping children and that is such a gift. When I look at the profession I think that
the rewards outweigh the struggles and I am excited to see what this career path has for me in life. I
have always wanted to work in the school district just as my mom does. While talking with Kay I
could easily see the passion she had for this career, it seems as though she wakes up liking to go to
work unlike many people in the world today. I have learned a lot talking to her and would be
interested in sitting in with her one day while she does her daily work as a school

The Importance Of A High School Teacher
All families have been touched by divorce either within the nuclear family or extended family.
Unfortunately, within the nuclear family separation and divorce have become an all too common
experience for many American children. When divorce happens in a family the ones affected most
are the parents and their children. Teachers are also affected by the divorce of their student's parents
as they themselves have a front–seat to the crisis in the family and how it affects their students.
As a high school teacher I will be primarily focusing on the adolescent student whose parents are
going through a divorce, as this is directly applies to my current position. Working in a high school
setting, I unfortunately have limited time getting to know my students over an hour a day as my
students have 8 classes a day. However, I do make a point to get to know my students as much as
possible. In the case of students going through a traumatic experience like divorce, teachers are seen
as the "first responders" in a situation where a student is exhibiting signs of distress such as the
following behavior changes at school: Decreased concentration, lashing out, impaired academic
performance, distrust of adults, trying to be the "perfect" student, neediness, withdrawal, impaired
peer relationships, decreased enthusiasm and mood fluctuations. (Surviving the Break Up Chapter
15 and CD The Effects of the Divorce on Children)

THE ROLE OF THE SCHOOL COUNSELLOR
School counselling is a branch of applied psychology that deals with problems or behaviours that
interfere with the academic progress or social acceptance of children in the school system. School
counsellors assess cognitive functioning and identify mental retardation, giftedness, developmental
delays, instructional difficulties, and learning disabilities. They recommend educational programs;
assess behavioural and emotional problems, and support parents and teachers. They also deal with
the full spectrum of social problems including family violence, peer interactions, substance abuse,

The history of school counselling around the world varies greatly based on how different countries
and local communities have chosen to provide academic, career, college readiness, and personal
skills and competencies to students from kindergarten to standard twelve and their families based on
economic and social capital resources and public versus private educational settings in what is now
called a school counselling program. In the United States of America, the profession of the school
counsellor began as a vocational guidance movement at the beginning of the twentieth century
(Schmidt, 2003). In India, school counsellors are still not prominent. Their roles in the school
setting are still not properly recognized and understood by the other educators. School counselling is
a recent development. The impetus for development of school–based counselling has a number of
causes, according to Bor. He says that everyday life can be challenging and stressful for even the
most resilient of children. Competitiveness, bullying,

social exclusion, homophobia, abuse, family crises, discrimination, sibling rivalry, scholastic

Evaluation Of ' Why Tough Teachers Get Good Results '
Evaluation of "Why Tough Teachers Get Good Results" by Joanne Lipman is a well–supported
article. Mrs. Lipman gives good insight to tough teachers getting good results from their students by
using her experience with her music teacher Mr. Kupchynsky. She provides many references to case
studies performed on students in classrooms by doctors and graduate students to support her point.
Mrs. Lipman explains that her Mr. Kupchynsky was a strict teacher, but because of his strictness
when he passed away all of his past students that came to pay their respects were all successful
people in life some were doctors and lawyers. Mrs. Lipman then continues to use her personal story
to explain some of the conceptions of present day educators and how they are false. She uses eleven
ways to prove that today's educational system as become soft on present day children. "The fear, of
course, is that failure will traumatize our kids, sapping their self–esteem. Wrong again. A 2006
study, a Bowling Green State University graduate student followed 31 Ohio band students who were
required to audition for placement and found that even students who placed lowest" did not decrease
in their motivation and self–esteem in the long term." The study concluded that educators need "not
be as concerned about the negative effects" of picking winners and losers" (Lipman). I really

Reflection On Classroom Management
This assignment asks for "one particular memorable classroom or school situation when you were a
student that if you had been the teacher, you would have handled differently. As the teacher in that
setting, how would you have brought resolution to the conflict?" I decided to approach this

With a 35% pass–rate, I did not expect too much participation from the class. The first thing was a
warm–up in which instead of students volunteering to come up to the board, there were a set of
popsicles sticks with students' names and I chose at random for the students to come up to the board
and work on a problem. But of course, I had students reluctant even if their names were chosen.
After the warm–up, the students were to work on an assignment that I handed out for 40–45
minutes. Plenty of the students did not even attempt the assignment and would have to finish it for
homework (but I doubt they did). Most students just talked and messed with their phones for the
time given to them for work. While I can give them work to do, I cannot force them to do it. So as
long as they are not injuring each other and destroying school property, I do not care what they do.
This is not a positive attitude to have, but it is the best course of action when it comes to one–day
substitutes. There were students who tried to make effort of the assignment and I was there to assist;
hopefully they learned something from the short time I could help. Next, the students were to take
5–10 minutes for a practice test in which the material was just from the assignment so if the students
made effort on the assignment and asked questions,

High School Student Diagnosed With Type 1 Diabetes
Ashley, a high school student diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age sixteen, experienced a
potentially fatal incident when a substitute teacher denied her request to go to the school nurse.
Ashley's family was aware of how important it was for their daughter's school to be kept informed
about her diabetes. They worked with the school and the nurse to follow all of the schools
procedures and protocols relating to a diagnosis of diabetes. The family worked closely with the
school to provide snacks, glucose tablets, and information about how the school could help support
Ashley's wellbeing. Ashley had a diabetic episode during a class where a substitute was teaching.
She needed her glucose medication and the substitute would not allow Ashley to get the medication
from her bag. The substitute also denied Ashley's request to go to the nurse. Ashley took it upon
herself to go to the nurse anyway. Ashley did not make it to the nurse since her blood sugar was so
low. She was found after the class very ill and disoriented and she had to be taken to the hospital in
an ambulance. The family was told by a doctor that this could have been a potentially fatal situation
for Ashley. Ashley's family asked the school to prevent this from happening again and make all the
necessary parties aware of the medical condition. The school did not feel that they needed to do that
and since the school was unwilling the parents hired a lawyer. Their case was based on ADA
violations and the

Choosing Your Future After High School
Baylee Baker

Senior Papers Deciding what to do with your future after high school, is one of the biggest decision
to make in life. There is always time to decide what path to take, but make sure it is for you before
investing too much time. When thinking about my future, I think about where I want to be and
where I see myself. The careers I have researched are not exactly what I want to do after high
school, but they are ones I wanted to learn about. The three occupations I chose to research are: high
school teachers, school counselors and marriage and family therapist's. Having thought about these
careers and learned about them more, I see them differently than I did before. Before I start talking
about each job, let me explain the turn of events that brought me to who I am today. I was born
February 10th, 1998 into a unique family structure. My mom, grandmother and four siblings
welcomed me with loving arms. As I grew older I quickly realized I looked different from my
siblings physically. This isn't a big deal for me, but explaining that each of my siblings has a
different father and mine happens to be Mexican–American is always met with confusion or
explanation. I love how diverse and extraordinary my siblings are and how we each share unique
qualities too. As my siblings have started their own families, I have realized just how much stability
and love I want to provide for my nieces, nephews, and my own family. I know

Application Letter Essay
Dear Admissions Committee:
I am applying to your Master of Education in Counseling Education program for the spring of 2018.
I graduated from Claflin University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration
with a concentration in Finance. When I first entered college in 2006 I had no solid career goals. I
went to the school I thought my parents wanted me to go to and ended up majoring in a field where
I felt I could begin a lucrative career. In the end this lead me to a number of jobs where I had no
room for growth, I was undervalued and unappreciated, and overall unsatisfied. I have been

School counselors are leaders working alongside teachers, parents, and other professionals to solve
problems that have presented within the school systems and support students. Because of the
complex society we live in today school counselors are needed to provide the additional support

solid foundation for a positive start as they are developing new social skills. As they transition they
will need support as they face new challenges that come with their rapid growth physically and

The Association for Addiction Professionals (NAADAC) is an organization of professionals who
focus on addiction counseling. The NAADAC prides itself on four main roles: professional
development, public engagement, professional services and to communicate its mission. The
organization will aide in professional development by providing the most current education and
training to ensure counselors are adopting the newest evidence based practices in their work (Tuohy,

Communication At Prab Raritan Gardens Essay
Part C: Communication is a large part at my particular site, there is open communication between all
staff members and I frequently view the clarity and openness staff members share with one another.
If there is an issue within the classroom, teachers will either address it among themselves or bring it
up to the director. Their issues are always resolved and solutions are found. The teacher who I am
interning with in particular (I will further address her as Teacher N), has no issues voicing her
opinion. If she does not agree with something she brings it up in an appropriate manner and it is
address. Within my time at PRAB Raritan Gardens, I have not witness any conflicts between staff
members. As stated above, from what I've witnessed everyone is very vocal about their opinions,
while at the same time everyone is also very willing to help each other. An example of which is if a
classroom has a particularly difficult child, teachers do not view this as that specific teacher's child
to handle. If someone is able to offer help, either by bringing the child within their classroom to
settle him or her down or even offering to help a child if they have a better ability to do so, they
will. An example of which was a time Teacher N had helped the teacher adjacent to her classroom
with a child who was bilingual, although the child did speak English he was better at speaking his
native tongue, Hindi. The teachers in that classroom both do not speak Hindi, but Teacher N did

Educational and Psychological Assessment of Exceptional Students
1. Functional Assessment of Behavior (FAB)
Functional Assessment of Behavior (FAB) is a method of identifying the variables associated with
the occurrence of a behavior. It involves noting down the events that either precede or follow the
behavior and the environment or setting that the behavior occurs regularly. FAB has been used by
individuals as a problem solving method to help people with chronic behavior problems. It is built
on the assumption that the individual repeats the behavior for a purpose thus, the purpose is
identified and the person helped to achieve the same purpose in more appropriate way (Miller,

PL 99–457 authorized a new preschool program for children from 3 through to 5 years old; and an
early intervention program for handicapped infants and toddlers from birth through to age 2. This
law provides the preschool age to be 3–5 years where the children in this age group should not be
labeled with a specific disability. During this period the programs can range from part–day, home–
based, full–day or center–based, depending on the child's unique needs. The law also stipulates on
early intervention where the age of intervention should be 0–2 years. There should be an Early

who are experiencing developmental delays in one or more of the following areas: cognitive,
physical, language and speech, psycho–social or self–help skill development. The included Early

School counseling has a unique ethical code, which is listed on the American School Counseling

School counselors must stay up–to–date to be effective in the field. Continuing education can
include conferences, webinars, or workshops which allow people from the field to network with
peers and earn continuing education units (ASCA, 2016). Furthermore, professional identity also
comes from the ASCA website that lists the vision, mission, goals, and objectives. The vision
includes advocacy, leadership, collaboration, and systemic change. Empowering school counselors
with knowledge, skills, and resources to foster student success. The mission is for school counselors

emotional and social competence to flourish in life. Having school connectedness means that the

Zombies, yes, the walking dead, have infested our town, and we must keep the members of it safe.
The members that I am especially concerned with are the children who attend our schools, as well as
the many staff members that keep the school running properly. In order to fulfill my duty as the
superintendent of the schools in this area, I am willing to put forth all of my energy into saving our
kids. The majority of our schools is located in the south, and the zombies have occupied most of the

is placed on a bus, we will bring them to school for their protection. While they arrive, due to power
outages north of us, we will have teachers post messages in the windows of the school. These
messages will inform parents that we plan to shelter at the school as long as possible. Uninfected
students will be placed in the gym with teacher supervision. Our posted signs will notify their
parents and guardians to come to the back door of the school if they show up and wish to take their
child with them. However, we will clarify to them that if we consider the situation outside to be
hazardous to their children's health then we will not release their child to them. After this the
windows will be boarded up with anything available. While this is being done, we will relocate
bookshelves as well as any other heavy furniture to barricade all doors that will no longer be needed
to open. After we have relocated all furniture and obstructed all windows, we ask teachers to do a
final sweep of the school to be sure no windows or doors were missed. The next step that will be
dealt with is communication.

School Principals And School Counselors Essay
Introduction School principals typically hire and train school counselors to fulfill the needs of his or
her respective school. How each individual principal views the position can be vastly different from
district to district and even contrast between schools within the same district. This article
disaggregates data from a study conducted in Florida where 459 middle school principals were
interviewed and completed surveys regarding their desired roles and functions of their school
counselors as well as how those counselors were being utilized within their schools currently.
Additionally the article compares data from this survey to a similar survey conducted within the
same demographics in 1993. In 1993 administrators perceived school counselor roles as school
leader, case consultant, clerical direct service provider, administrative team player, and substitute
teacher. In contrast today principals do not place as much emphasis on disciplinary administrative
actions and scheduling, but incorrectly continue to consider substitute teacher duties, clerical
responsibilities, and test coordination as primary functions of a school counselor. Because of this
discrepancy, counselors report it is difficult to fulfill what they perceive as their primary role –
facilitators of the academic, social, and personal development of students. Similarly, counselors
acknowledge the importance of administrator support when developing counseling programs within
a middle school.

Counseling Specializations And Multidisciplinary Teams
Counseling Specializations and Multidisciplinary Teams
It is my belief, a school counselor must have the personality characteristics of an effective counselor
and have a personal approach to treatment. Personal characteristics of an effective counselor are as
follows: making life oriented choices, being authentic, sincere, and honest with students at all times.
Other characteristics consist of appreciating the influence of different cultures and being passionate
with students as they are counseled. Having the respect for others, regardless of culture, race, and
ethnicity are also characteristics of being a great counselor. Being authentic, honest, and sincere
helps build a great rapport with students, parents, and co–workers. Students need someone to be
passionate and show genuine concern when helping them through their educational journey. Each
child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to
grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It should be a counselor's
desire along with teaching staff to help students meet their needs to their fullest potential in these
areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk–taking, and invites shared ideas.
A school counselor should have goals of being a leader in educational reform, being visible on
school teams, and serving as a student and system advocate. School Counselors should provide a
bridge between students, teachers, and

Meeting With The Simi Valley Unified School District
I met with Dr. Linda Vandaveer, a school psychologist with the Simi Valley Unified School District,
on February 4, 2016. I met with her at Katherine Elementary School. She also works with two other
schools in the district. I found my meeting with her enjoyable and interesting.
At Katherine Elementary School Dr Vandaveer has her own portable where she can test students.
Her desk is in one corner and there was a kidney–shaped table with a few chairs on the side of the
room. Other than a couple filing cabinets the room was fairly sparse. There was nothing on the
walls.

lower grade teacher representatives, and the parents. The parents can also bring other people
including a therapist.
The school psychologist then assigns individuals in the student study team to perform certain tests.
The psychologist may do four hours of testing broken up over a couple of days, the speech specialist
does around two hours of testing and the special education teacher spends around three hours with
the child. The teacher and parents provide information about the child. The information gathered

I had little doubt by the way I was approached that they identified me as their head teacher but at
this stage I did not. I still identified, maybe not as a deputy head teacher as the zone work had
moved me on from that position, but certainly not as a head teacher. I was going to have to
reconstruct myself very quickly into this new role.
There was no time to consider leadership in the first week or even describe it as a phase of learning
but I am of no doubt that it was. The demands and expectations of being a head teacher moved with
momentous speed. The shift from each leadership role came with differing decision–making
responsibilities but this was different. I had not reaslised the reach of decisions made by head
teachers each and every day. I was so struck by the range that I made a point of recording in my
journal some of what they were and how I felt about my first week. This is what I wrote: –

Comparing The Spokane School District
After analyzing the attached comparison chart, the Spokane School District compares to the other
districts as for absences. However, Spokane's population and number of certified staff is greatly
fewer than that of Belton and Neosho district. The areas of significant differences are; number of
sick and personal days allowed to be accumulated and number of days available for funeral/death

Spokane School Districts policies are relatively the same as the other districts that were used in the
study. Although there are marginal differences in the following areas: 1. Number of sick days
granted 2. Military leave
Florence School District, a district which was used in the study, has a policy that has major
variances than ours, in the number of sick and personal days that can be accumulated, and a slight
differences in the amount of sick days that are allowed annually. Concerning substitute teachers, our
district pays $80/daily and the qualifications are sixty college hours and a Missouri Sub. Teachers
Certificate, whereas, Florence sub. pays is $61/daily, and requirements are a High School Diploma
and/or a pass score on the sub. test. Even with the Florence providing teachers in their district. with
3 additional days for leave, with their sub. pay being $61/daily the district cost for a sub. would total
$951. Where our district provides teachers three fewer days, and a sub. rate of $80/daily, brings the

The Schools And Public Schools Essay
For children from birth to 5 years of age (Early Years) the childcare centres are usually community
or trust schools, these are mostly run by the school governing body or by a charitable foundation.
Children from the ages of 5 to 16 are entitled to a free place at state school. The different categories
of schools are:
Community schools run by the local authorities, which as owners of the land and buildings are
responsible for upkeep etc. The local authorities are also responsible for the admissions and they
decide who is eligible.
Voluntary Aided Schools or Faith Schools, this kind of school is associated with a particular religion
where the land and buildings belong to a charity or religious organisation, it can be partly funded by
a governing body, by the local authorities or by charities. The national curriculum must be followed
except for the religion lessons and it is possible that this type of school has a strict staffing policy
and admission criteria but anyone can apply.
Academies are publicly funded schools where the money for the land, buildings and funding is
jointly raised by sponsors from businesses. They are independently managed schools but have close
links with the Local Education authority and the government covers running costs. Independent
schools set out their own curriculum which together with the admission policies are decided by the
Head Teacher and the governors. These schools are funded privately by parents and investment

I can guarantee there is no better professor who exemplifies these qualities than Professor Jones.
Please allow me to justify why he must win. First and foremost, Professor Jones is the most

Adapted Crisis Response Plan For Hilo Intermediate School
Adapted Crisis Response Plan Based on the presented information, the following adapted crisis
intervention protocols and plan are suggested for Hilo Intermediate School, and could also be
implemented in other schools within the district with adaptation as needed for each individual
school's unique needs. Additionally, it should be noted that while these steps are presented in a step
format, steps can be skipped or repeated as needed to assist in responding to varying crises,
emergencies, and disasters. First, a comprehensive school counseling program would be
implemented that provided preventative as well as intervention strategies that could help to prevent
a crisis or intervene before a crisis occurred (ASCA, 2012). The school counselor would provide
classroom guidance lessons to reach all students that would promote areas such as self–esteem, and
coping strategies. Further, the counselor would provide professional development for teachers to
look for warning signs such as aggressive behavior and withdrawal, and refer them for individual or
group counseling. During a crisis, the first school personnel on the scene or with the person in crisis
would assess and take control of the situation until an administrator or other designee arrived. This
would help with providing students and others with clear directions and next step to take, thus
alleviating anxiety. Next, the person would address life safety, and call 911 or designate someone to
call 911 (SHDOE, 2009). This

This interpretation of education is one which I have seen gather meaning throughout my placement, if posed with the question 'what is the aim of education?' prior to my placement my response would have been a generic and standard answer referring to the possibilities of getting a job in the future and to meet government and societies standards. But my time on placement has allowed me to reflect upon and respond to the excellent teaching I have witnessed which has had a focus on meeting standards but there is an edge to the style of teaching, characterising how the teacher cares for every single child as an individual and wishes to see them grow and develop as individuals. This article of work has been broken down into four main sections; these sections are the main entries from my reflective diary which in my opinion are the most significant experiences from my time. The first section is focused primarily on how the teachers rapport which is built through her affection and care to her class which consequently inspires the class to work and behave for her and how this affects the behaviour management strategies used in the classroom, secondly I will look at the differentiation between pupils in the classroom, the role of the teaching assistant in the classroom and finally the use of questioning in the classroom. I have many goals, both professional and academic that are related to school counseling. All throughout school I had many inspirational school counselors that molded who I am today. This set me up for success in my college career. Upon entering college, I began to appreciate the importance of planning and organization in order to build the life I wanted for myself. While completing the application process for graduate school I realized that everything I had done over the years lead to this moment. I thoroughly enjoyed applying for schools, only because I had the confidence and motivation from my many mentors and counselors surrounding me. My friends would ask for my assistance everyday during their own educational planning and I knew I wanted to make a career out of it. During these experiences, I learned the importance of discovering a meaningful life path. This is the most important aspect I will instill in the students I work with on a daily basis. I was lucky enough to have an amazing counselor at my undergraduate college. Unfortunately, within the nuclear family separation and divorce have become an all too common experience for many American children. When divorce happens in a family the ones affected most are the parents and their children. Teachers are also affected by the divorce of their student's parents as they themselves have a front–seat to the crisis in the family and how it affects their students. She provides many references to case studies performed on students in classrooms by doctors and graduate students to support her point. Mrs. Lipman explains that her Mr. Kupchynsky was a strict teacher, but because of his strictness when he passed away all of his past students that came to pay their respects were all successful people in life some were doctors and lawyers. • 29. An Emergency Plan For The United States Zombies, yes, the walking dead, have infested our town, and we must keep the members of it safe. The members that I am especially concerned with are the children who attend our schools, as well as the many staff members that keep the school running properly. In order to fulfill my duty as the superintendent of the schools in this area, I am willing to put forth all of my energy into saving our kids. The majority of our schools is located in the south, and the zombies have occupied most of the northern areas. Fortunately, we still have access to electricity. Nevertheless, we must use it wisely, for we do not know how long this luck will last. In addition to reports of power outages in the north that may be spreading south, there are also ... However, if a family was not fortunate enough to be up–to–date on this current news and their child is placed on a bus, we will bring them to school for their protection. While they arrive, due to power outages north of us, we will have teachers post messages in the windows of the school. These messages will inform parents that we plan to shelter at the school as long as possible. Uninfected students will be placed in the gym with teacher supervision. Our posted signs will notify their parents and guardians to come to the back door of the school if they show up and wish to take their child with them. However, we will clarify to them that if we consider the situation outside to be hazardous to their children's health then we will not release their child to them. After this the windows will be boarded up with anything available. While this is being done, we will relocate bookshelves as well as any other heavy furniture to barricade all doors that will no longer be needed to open. After we have relocated all furniture and obstructed all windows, we ask teachers to do a final sweep of the school to be sure no windows or doors were missed. The next step that will be dealt with is communication. As the school superintendents and surrounding staff, we need to notify our general city of what our plan of action is for our schools. • 31. School Principals And School Counselors Essay Introduction School principals typically hire and train school counselors to fulfill the needs of his or her respective school. How each individual principal views the position can be vastly different from district to district and even contrast between schools within the same district. This article disaggregates data from a study conducted in Florida where 459 middle school principals were interviewed and completed surveys regarding their desired roles and functions of their school counselors as well as how those counselors were being utilized within their schools currently. Additionally the article compares data from this survey to a similar survey conducted within the same demographics in 1993. In 1993 administrators perceived school counselor roles as school leader, case consultant, clerical direct service provider, administrative team player, and substitute teacher. In contrast today principals do not place as much emphasis on disciplinary administrative actions and scheduling, but incorrectly continue to consider substitute teacher duties, clerical responsibilities, and test coordination as primary functions of a school counselor. Because of this discrepancy, counselors report it is difficult to fulfill what they perceive as their primary role – facilitators of the academic, social, and personal development of students. Similarly, counselors acknowledge the importance of administrator support when developing counseling programs within a middle school. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Counseling Specializations And Multidisciplinary Teams Counseling Specializations and Multidisciplinary Teams It is my belief, a school counselor must have the personality characteristics of an effective counselor and have a personal approach to treatment. Personal characteristics of an effective counselor are as follows: making life oriented choices, being authentic, sincere, and honest with students at all times. Other characteristics consist of appreciating the influence of different cultures and being passionate with students as they are counseled. Having the respect for others, regardless of culture, race, and ethnicity are also characteristics of being a great counselor. Being authentic, honest, and sincere helps build a great rapport with students, parents, and co–workers. Students need someone to be passionate and show genuine concern when helping them through their educational journey. Each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It should be a counselor's desire along with teaching staff to help students meet their needs to their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk–taking, and invites shared ideas. • 33. Meeting With The Simi Valley Unified School District I met with Dr. Linda Vandaveer, a school psychologist with the Simi Valley Unified School District, on February 4, 2016. I met with her at Katherine Elementary School. She also works with two other schools in the district. I found my meeting with her enjoyable and interesting. At Katherine Elementary School Dr Vandaveer has her own portable where she can test students. Her desk is in one corner and there was a kidney–shaped table with a few chairs on the side of the room. Other than a couple filing cabinets the room was fairly sparse. There was nothing on the walls. At student can be referred for special needs by a parent, teacher, or principal. A student study team is then set up to evaluate the child. The team includes the psychologist who is the coordinator of the team, the principal, the child's teacher, the special education teacher, speech specialist, upper and lower grade teacher representatives, and the parents. The parents can also bring other people including a therapist. The school psychologist then assigns individuals in the student study team to perform certain tests. The psychologist may do four hours of testing broken up over a couple of days, the speech specialist does around two hours of testing and the special education teacher spends around three hours with the child. The teacher and parents provide information about the child. The information gathered include intellectual function, visual motor integrations, behavior rating scales, parent and ... I reflect on the compromises I had to make after the school was identified as a school eligible for National Challenge (NC) funding . As previously, I consider my identity, I also step aside to consider 'performitivity', a concept I believe changed the identity of leaders (as league tables were published) and capable of changing the identity of leaders in the future. I still identified, maybe not as a deputy head teacher as the zone work had moved me on from that position, but certainly not as a head teacher. I was going to have to reconstruct myself very quickly into this new role. There was no time to consider leadership in the first week or even describe it as a phase of learning but I am of no doubt that it was. The demands and expectations of being a head teacher moved with momentous speed. The shift from each leadership role came with differing decision–making responsibilities but this was different. I had not reaslised the reach of decisions made by head teachers each and every day. I was so struck by the range that I made a point of recording in my journal some of what they were and how I felt about my first week. This is what I wrote: – "It is an odd feeling I have. However, Spokane's population and number of certified staff is greatly fewer than that of Belton and Neosho district. The areas of significant differences are; number of sick and personal days allowed to be accumulated and number of days available for funeral/death leave. Spokane School Districts policies are relatively the same as the other districts that were used in the study. Although there are marginal differences in the following areas: 1. Number of sick days granted 2. Military leave Florence School District, a district which was used in the study, has a policy that has major variances than ours, in the number of sick and personal days that can be accumulated, and a slight differences in the amount of sick days that are allowed annually. Concerning substitute teachers, our district pays $80/daily and the qualifications are sixty college hours and a Missouri Sub. Teachers Certificate, whereas, Florence sub. pays is $61/daily, and requirements are a High School Diploma and/or a pass score on the sub. test. Even with the Florence providing teachers in their district. with 3 additional days for leave, with their sub. pay being $61/daily the district cost for a sub. would total $951. • 39. The Schools And Public Schools Essay For children from birth to 5 years of age (Early Years) the childcare centres are usually community or trust schools, these are mostly run by the school governing body or by a charitable foundation. Children from the ages of 5 to 16 are entitled to a free place at state school. The different categories of schools are: Community schools run by the local authorities, which as owners of the land and buildings are responsible for upkeep etc. The local authorities are also responsible for the admissions and they decide who is eligible. Voluntary Aided Schools or Faith Schools, this kind of school is associated with a particular religion where the land and buildings belong to a charity or religious organisation, it can be partly funded by a governing body, by the local authorities or by charities. The national curriculum must be followed except for the religion lessons and it is possible that this type of school has a strict staffing policy and admission criteria but anyone can apply. Academies are publicly funded schools where the money for the land, buildings and funding is jointly raised by sponsors from businesses. They are independently managed schools but have close links with the Local Education authority and the government covers running costs. Independent schools set out their own curriculum which together with the admission policies are decided by the Head Teacher and the governors. Without a shadow of a doubt, you have a deserving winner of this award found in Professor Jones. In fact, I nominated him for this last year, and on the student evaluations after each course I always included a note that he should receive some recognition for his commitment to teaching. Based on the selection criteria found on UD's website as to what this award encompasses, I can guarantee there is no better professor who exemplifies these qualities than Professor Jones. Please allow me to justify why he must win. First and foremost, Professor Jones is the most dedicated instructor I ever had. At the beginning of every class, you can find Professor Jones reading his packet of notes for the lecture that day. Adapted Crisis Response Plan For Hilo Intermediate School Adapted Crisis Response Plan Based on the presented information, the following adapted crisis intervention protocols and plan are suggested for Hilo Intermediate School, and could also be implemented in other schools within the district with adaptation as needed for each individual school's unique needs. Additionally, it should be noted that while these steps are presented in a step format, steps can be skipped or repeated as needed to assist in responding to varying crises, emergencies, and disasters. First, a comprehensive school counseling program would be implemented that provided preventative as well as intervention strategies that could help to prevent a crisis or intervene before a crisis occurred (ASCA, 2012). The school counselor would provide classroom guidance lessons to reach all students that would promote areas such as self–esteem, and coping strategies. Further, the counselor would provide professional development for teachers to look for warning signs such as aggressive behavior and withdrawal, and refer them for individual or group counseling. During a crisis, the first school personnel on the scene or with the person in crisis would assess and take control of the situation until an administrator or other designee arrived. This would help with providing students and others with clear directions and next step to take, thus alleviating anxiety. Next, the person would address life safety, and call 911 or designate someone to call 911 (SHDOE, 2009). This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
