Comparing The Cage And Black-Colored Bird Experiments
The first illusion I conducted an experiment with was the "Bird in a Cage" illusion. In the illusion,
there were two parrots. One green parrot and one red cardinal facing each other with a cage in–
between them. The instructions were to concentrate on the eye of the red parrot for twenty seconds
and then look at the center of the cage. The following instructions were to do the same experiment,
but with the green cardinal next. When looking in the cage after the twenty seconds, you could see a
glimmer of a faint cyan–colored bird. Likewise, with the green bird, you could see a faint magenta–
colored bird. This illusion is based on the idea of an 'afterimage'. An afterimage is fairly self–
explanatory. It is essentially an image that your brain continues to see even after you have looked
away from the object itself. Light sensitive cells, called cones, are affected by the colors of what you
are looking at. The sudden change of these lights can cause a ghost image that is a different light
color. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both the black lines and white lines had a grey rectangle inside of the line. From first glance, you
assume that the two greys are completely different shades. That, however, was not the case. Once
you remove the black lines entirely, the greys magically appear to be the exact same shade. This
illusion shows how your brain is highly affected by the difference between the dark light and the
bright light. The lighter looking grey was in the black line, while the darker was in the white line.
This shows how our brain changes its perception based on comparison of the light around

Nashville: A Short Story
On this particular Saturday night, the air was muggy, humid, and an undemanding thing like
breathing felt almost impossible to do. The only breeze I felt was from running with my friends at
full capacity, trying to escape from the danger of the two homeless men following at our feet, in
downtown Nashville. I knew my sister should not have given them her leftover food at that moment
in time, but she never listens. In fact, any animal would be more attentive of what I am speaking.
Sometimes you decide to do good things for that good ole' Karma, but in this case, the outcome of
getting chased through the streets of Nashville was not what was anticipated. Plans do not always go
the way we want them and that is okay because we need those radical ... Show more content on

The whole gang, which includes Paige, Brandon, Cyan, Jocelyn, and I, left The Spaghetti Factory.
We started walking toward the general direction of the Public Square Park, which is where the
concert was going to be held. Darkness had approached us, the sky was now pitch–black, and
everywhere I looked, there were oceans of people, walking towards Live on the Green. Some people
were dressed up and were wearing clothing that resembles that of a Fashionista. Then there were
your "hipsters," who dress up as homeless people, which made them look "groovy" and "funky". We
on the other hand, resided in the middle of that scale where we did not dress to impress, but
certainly did not look shabby. Nobody felt like making their ways through the crowds or
maneuvering through openings between people; therefore, Brandon, who has some knowledge on
the area and knows his way around Nashville from how frequently he goes, suggested we take a
short cut. As our walk continues, Brandon points to this pitch–black, sketchy looking alley and
states the obvious,"So guys that might look a little bit creepy, but it is our best shot to getting to the
concert faster." We all reply with, "We hate you Brandon", but it's not like we had a choice and we

Seapunk Research Paper
Seapunk is a culture that originated on Tumblr in 2011. It is regularly associated with an aquatic–
themed style of fashion, 3–d net art, iconography, and allusions to famous subculture of the
Nineties. The advent of seapunk additionally spawned its personal electronic tune microgenre,
presenting factors of Southern hip hop and dad tune and R&B music of the Nineties. Seapunk
gained constrained reputation as it spread via the Internet, even though it changed into said to have
developed a Chicago membership scene. Seapunk is a combination of scene, EDM, and hipster

Short Story
Staying in the middle of New York currently is bothersome. There is a raging heat outside and my
air conditioning unit has broken down. No one comes into my shop, except for my regulars,
anymore. No one believes in old styled medicine, anymore. No one, except, for the boy roaming in
my shop comes in, anymore. He looks about fourteen and a little dirty, but who isn't at his age. His
footsteps cause my discolored floorboards to creak, I hope he doesn't fall through one of them. His
green eyes look lost, but his body knows where he is. He comes in regularly and at the same exact
time, two o'clock p.m. His watch goes off, he turns it off, then he sets a new time, and begins to
roam. Now, he is in the back end of my storefront, looking at the ... Show more content on

Strange. That boy never says a word to me, but I guess the candies piqued his interest. I look at the
time and as usual he leaves at the same time as well, a quarter past three. I come out from behind the
queue window, and find myself in front of the carton candy container. I reach in and pull out the
same four candies the boy had pulled out. He picked out four very random, but very colorfully
wrapped candies, Sleep, Energy, Revitalize, and Focus. Sleep is the cyan wrapped candy he spoke
about, which is also very bitter, due to the amount of dandelion greens use to make it. Energy is a
neon orange wrapped candy, due to the hints of orange peel and ginger, this candy is meant to be
taken the same as an eight–ounce Red Bull can. Revitalize is a salmon wrapped candy, and it is
recommended to be taken by us older folk. It eases the stomach with the use of chamomile heads
and almost cleanses the body with the use of mint. It can also be recommended to those who are
often constipated. Then there is Focus, a brightly lavender wrapped candy made with gingko juice
and pineapple, it helps people retain memory and gain more focus in their life. I chuckle at the
gumball sized candies in my hand and take them with me. Noting that there is only one

Pigmented Skin Lesions
The aim of this study is to enable non–expert user to distinguish between benign and malignant
pigmented skin lesions using a new threshold based algorithm. 282 macroscopic images of
pigmented skin lesions were taken by conventional digital cameras with different spatial resolutions
from several online dermatology database with minimum constraints of imaging conditions. The
proposed method involves three stages: Firstly, to accurately determine lesion area, preprocessing

designated time of ruling and all children born during that time take on the traits of the ruling deity.
They are the Zodiac. Aquarius watches over the world from the earth time January 20th to February

Graphic Incognito Analysis
According to article "Graphic Incognito", writer Mark Owens says that modernism exported to
America through Bauhaus, which was a European movement that came around World War 2. The
movement in America took shape in the 1980s with the influence of a new cultural era that was
personified in different mediums, especially in music. He argues that certain modernist design
tactics were adopted by suburban kids raised during the Reagan era in the early 1980s that were in
the post– punk, hardcore, underground music scene. First of all, he begins his essay with a quote
from Paul Rand about how "timeless principles" were the only hope to achieve a style of quality in
one's work. In this essay, Mark Owens collocate the theoretical principals ... Show more content on

flanked on top and bottom by two white rules and simple all caps Helvetica reading GERMS along

language of underground music and culture. Moreover, Mark Owens indicate that the punk band

The First to Vanish Christopher Mulholland had a long day on the first day of his tour in Bath,
halfway through the tour it was canceled due to a storm coming in. It was getting late, the wind was
howling, and the storm clouds he heard about could be seen in the distance. He held tightly onto his
luggage as he walked down a deserted road. There was only one other person than him on the road
and he was heading for his home. "Hey, can you please help me, I need to find a place for the night,"
Christopher asked as h caught up to him, and it started to drizzle. "Ah, why not try the Bell and

Perkins?" "No, it's Mulholland, and thank you, the room is lovely," Christopher said as he walked in
and studied the room. He set his luggage down and started unpacking. "When your done, please
come down and sign the book Mr. Mulholland," the landlady said as she left the room. A few
minutes later, Christopher made it back down to the lobby. He started thinking that she was a bit
dotty as he reached the book. He opened it up and signed it, noticing he was the first one to write a
name down. Suddenly, a colorful parrot flew down the stairs and landed in a birdcage. The parrot
startled Christopher so much, he almost fell backwards. "Hello, Hello," the parrot squawked at
Christopher. "Hello little parrot," he whispered with a smile. "So I see you met my little parrot,
Ginger," the landlady said as she came into the room with a silver tea tray. She came over and sat
the tray down onto the table. "Oh, I have a question," Christopher said as he turned around and saw
her already pouring out some tea. "Why is my name the only name in the book? Am I really the first
to come here?" "No, many people come by, but I'm a bit choosy with who

Rani Perera 370 Analysis
3 Figures by Rani Perera 370" x 240", 2017, located in the AGYU, used a mural medium to
comprise the artwork. This paining is composed of shapes since it is an enclosed two dimensional
object within an artwork, which has a height and a width. In this art, cone shapes almost dominate
the composition. this piece uses colour element; the three human figures are composed of hue
colours which are red, purple, yellow, cyan, grey and orange all displayed on a white background.
Different colour values have been used in this piece, for example, black and dark cyan have been
used in the human figures, while light colour such as; bright yellow, red, purple and etc have been
used on the middle part of the human figures and some of the upper part of the piece. ... Show more

In contrast, dull colours have also been used in the piece. These include, the warm orange circle

top part of the piece. These flats are colours that are painted in a uniform or identical tone and hue,
for example the top black body part of the figures and the cone shapes attached to their head are in
uniform red, green, dark cyan colours. The coolness of the pink, purple and yellow in the mid–part
of the bodies which, show birds and oceans, are contrasted with the warmth of the orange sky, the

Prosopagnosia In Charles Thomas 'Chuck' Close's Life
Charles Thomas 'Chuck' Close was born an only child in 1940 Monroe, Washington to parents that
both held a sight for artistic endeavors. He is known to everyone outside of his family as 'Chuck,' a
name he has always hated. It was in high school where he made attempts at individuation that he
started referring to himself as Chuck. Only by an accidental dubbing taken place during an interview
in 1968 that this stuck as his professional art name. His father passed away when Chuck was eleven
forcing him and his mother to move homes for the fifth time by the age of twelve. Growing up,
Close showed difficulty in his academics and social life which led to being tested and diagnosed
with dyslexia. Out of his learning disability it became apparent that he suffered from another
disability known as prosopagnosia. Prosopagnosia is a condition in which he cannot recognize faces.
He stated that "people I look at all look immediately familiar to me, but I have tremendous difficulty
figuring out who it is and where I've seen them before. I never can memorize." He developed his
own system of memorizing by sensory deprivation and used art as a way to prove that he wasn't
exaggerating his condition. Upon graduating high school he attended ... Show more content on

Serial Dilution Lab Report
The purpose of the experiment was to identify the concentration of an unknown solution by
performing a serial dilution to provide reference for comparison. Serial dilutions are extremely
useful for identifying unknown substances as the gradual discolouration of the solution allows for
simple comparison. Although serial dilutions are extremely helpful for chemists, they are often used
to help microbiologists reliably count the number of bacteria living in a host or an environment.
Blodgett states that serial dilutions can help estimate the concentration of target microbes in a
sample; this estimation is useful when counting the bacteria for low concentrations of organisms
(Blodgett, 2013). Having an estimate of the concentration of bacteria ... Show more content on

A relationship can be identified between the colour of the solution versus the concentration of the
solution. The smaller the concentration of the solution, the more discoloured the solution will
become as shown in Table 1. As the dilutions continued the solutions gradually lost their cyan tint
creating a gradient of comparison for the unknown solution. The relationship between concentration
and colour is therefore completely linear. The human eye perceives light absorbency as colour due
to the range of visible light determined by wavelength. The Beer–Lambert Law states that the
capacity of a dissolved substance to absorb light is directly proportional to its concentration
(Rafferty, 2009). From this relationship it is known that the more concentrated a solution is, the
higher its absorbency is and because the human eye interprets absorbency as colour; the more
concentrated a solution is, the more intense its colour is. On the molecular level, it is apparent that
more concentrated solutions have a higher capacity to absorb light because there are more molecules
in the concentrated solutions to interact with to absorb the light. The reason why 50mL of solution
was made for each concentration was to provide a constant standard for comparison, but also
because a uniform volume ensures that a proportionate amount of solute is dissolved into each
solution. The mass or volume of solute needed must be calculated in order to perform the serial
dilution correctly. Therefore is a relationship between volume of solvent & the mass of the solute to
determine the concentration of

3D Display Essay
This great progress in display technologies have brought us a long way in how we receive, perceive,
experience and interpret all the information. Mass media –– film, entertainment, internet, gaming,
architecture and data visualization –– have taken new shapes around these display technologies. One
important thing to note about all these displays is that all output only 2D imagery. They create a
two–dimensional array of colored picture elements a.k.a. pixels that, stacked tightly next to each
other, project images or text. But in the real world, we see objects in three dimensions and we
perceive the third dimension with our naked eye.
Traditional 2D display devices show flat images that lack depth or 3D information. This restriction

This ability to resolve depth within in a scene either natural or virtual improves spatial
understanding of the scene and reduces the cognitive load associated with analysis and collaboration
on complex tasks. With recent advancements in technology, true 3D displays are making their way
into mainstream. 3D display technologies are stereoscopic or autostereoscopic. Autostereoscopic
displays do not require wearing special eye glasses to view the 3D content. Light Field Displays and
3D volumetric displays are examples of autostereoscopic displays. On the other hand, binocular
stereoscopic displays require special eyewear to be able to view the 3D content, In many 3D display
technologies, multiple views are typically used to give a sense of depth and perspective. (Lages,
Cordeiro, & Guedes, 2009). A survey by Air Force Research Laboratory(AFRL) suggests Joint
Terminal Attack Controllers(JTACs) who were shown 3D holograms and conventional 2D images
rated 3D holograms to be more effective than the 2D imagery in terms of retaining height
information (Martin, Holzback, Riegler, Smith, & Ki Tam, 2008). Studies have also found that
virtual reality devices can improve and enhance spatial ability and understanding by providing
interactive 3D visualization (Lee, Wong, & Fung, 2009). In a study examining the usefulness of
stereo images in elementary school education, stereoscopic 3D images were shown to reveal details

The control conditions were the group of participants, the number of words read, and the
environment in which the task was performed. These conditions were controlled to ensure that any
variation in the times taken to perform the tasks of reciting the lists was caused by the difference in
color and word which was written.
The experimental design chosen was repeated measures. The advantages of using this design are the

possibility of order effects in participants, such as the practice effect or the fatigue effect. In effort to

New Dannonpa V3 Game Analysis
I created an album cover for the original soundtracks of the game: New DanganRonpa V3. An
album which contains all the soundtracks used in the game. This is a mystery game based around
high school students who are trapped in a school setting. In order to escape, students must murder
each other and lie through a debate without getting caught by the rest. The design of this game is
inspired by the infamous psychological horror film, Saw.
The design is largely made up of a colour that's close to magenta. The reason being that magenta is
used to represent the colour of blood in the game. There is also a hidden face within the texts. The
weird wing–like shape and a dot is actually the eyes of the game mascot who is also a representation
of the antagonist.

shapes are also a example of contrast between shapes. All shapes and texts are tightly placed
together to represent a feeling of unease and a sense of being trapped. Which is one of the major
point in this game. There is no clear balance to this design. However, each lines leads to the where
the title of the game resides to draw attention to the title of the game.
As I was creating this cover, I wanted convey a bright and lighthearted feeling. Which is what the
producers want the players to think in at first. Yet at the same time, I wanted to hint a feeling of
being trapped in a mess. This game is targeted towards older teens who seeks thrills in a game full
of unknown pasts, mysterious murders, and deducing theories. Through my design, I believe I was
able to create mix feelings within the target audience. A cover which makes them curious as to why
a cover is able to have such bright colours, yet give off such an uneasy

Introduction To Identity The Unknow Acid Solution
The purpose of this experiment is to identity the unknow acid solution through determining the Ka
value of the reaction experimentally. The colors of unknown acid 3 matches the colors of test tube 1,
with thymol blue being light pink, malachite green being dark green and crystal violet being cyan.
Comparing it to other 3 test tubes, test tube 2 has a similar result. Both test tube 3 and 4 have higher
Ph than 1 and 2, since thymol blue is yellow and crystal violet is purple in test tube 3, rose and blue
in test tube 4. Crystal violet is green in test tube 2, which shows that it has a lower ph than test tube
1. So, the order of acidity from most acidic to least acidic is 2143. Dichloroacetic acid is the second
strongest in those 4 acids; this suggests that unknown acid 3 is dichloroacetic acid.

the equivalence point is 7, the spike of pH around equivalence point is huge and all indicators at this

Narwhal Poem
Narwhal
The ocean was still and smooth, like a black mirror reflecting ivory clouds and cyan shadows. In it,
a pale blue whale of immense size surfaced and swam gently, like a dropping tear on a cheek.
All the misery from around the world was drawn to the sea and formed its ripples. The whale
swallowed the grief silently, from the northeast to the southwest, and the world was quiet and
peaceful.
Over time, the whale could no longer bear and hold the sorrows inside his body. The pain
transformed and twisted into a long, grey tooth; it pierced through his forehead like a unicorn's horn.
One day, people saw this anguished whale from the shore. They were amazed by a creature they had
never seen before. They gazed at his splendid horn, and a strong greed grew inside of their hearts.
People took boats, wood, and anything that could let them float. They surrounded the whale and
trapped him, but the whale was too huge to be carried. So, they used thick ropes to hitch his head, ...

Humans, however, were ignorant of the change.
Now, the horn hung in the centre of the city. People took pride in it and cheered, never knowing that
it was the pain of the whale.
Time passed by. A sailor was drowning in the fierce ocean from shipwreck. He struggled and tried to
stay afloat, but desperation and death were stronger than him. When he was ready to give, he saw an
island a short distance away. With his last ounce of strength, he swam to the island and pulled
himself onto the beach. He lay prone on the sand, and couldn't believe that he was still alive.
When he lifted his head up, the forest soughed in the breeze. The subtle comfort slowed his breath
and brought him an inner peace he had never felt before.
The sailor didn't know that the magnificent whale's body had floated up from the bottom of the sea
and transformed, creating the island that was now his

Informative Essay On P1
The McLaren P1 The 2014 McLaren P1 is a fascinating car, a masterpiece one could say. With the
curves of Beyoncé, a paint job that's so smooth and crisp shown under any street lamp or the day's
sun could catch one's eye contact. The rims, and tires give the McLaren that last bit of touch it
would ever need, the body of a goddess. However, as one says, looks aren't everything. The
McLaren P1 has an engine that roars like a lion when you start it up and the per of a kitten as it
accelerates. Even a car enthusiast can't handle a 0 to 60 of 2.7 seconds (sec's). Everyone enjoys a
"good–looking" car rather, it's a spectator or a driver. The only difference is one gets to enjoy the
view as it drives on by, and the other gets to have that "feel good"

Civil War Visual Analysis
The painting was very thought provoking and sprouted many ideas in my head, however, their was
one idea that stood out more than the others. I listed the thoughts below in the bullet points. The
color scheme of this painting was very chaotic. The outside areas were vibrants shades of yellow,
green, and some blue. The inner center section of the painting was dark red with a big blotch of
black covering it. Other students took the hidden shades of colors to stand for the bravery that most
citizens stereotype war with. However, in reality their is only blood stains that cover everything and
war is just an act of foolishness.
From my point of view, the outside colors stood for the different viewpoints that each individual
brings to the war. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So if you look at the painting in this perspective, you can hypothesize that the red and green
viewpoints have collided making the big black blotch in the center.
So it is concludes that when these varying viewpoints collided you create a massive surge of chaos
and bloodshed.
The other thing interesting about the painting was the setting of the picture. Unlike most paintings
this one was set inside a frame that resembled a barrier. This was very creative and gave the viewer
the sense that all these soldiers are trapped in this vortex of unending bloodshed.
Their was a part of the canvas that seemed to run out of the boundaries of the frame. It was
interesting how the blue line leading away from the scene closely resembled a river.
It felt as if many of the soldier may have tried to escape from this gruesome setting by flowing out
of the picture and maybe forgetting all the memories. However, the experience war gives is rarely
forgotten and this clearly noticeable in the picture because the river does not end up leaving the
frame but comes to a standstill or

broad range of temps. Cubensis, and Pans./Cops., mexicana, tampanensis, and all the other

Homogeneous Mixture Lab Report
Introduction
A mixture is a combination of two or more pure substances that are physically combined [not
chemically combined]. There are two types of mixtures, which are homogeneous mixtures and
heterogeneous mixtures. Homogeneous mixtures are mixtures that have components which are
uniformly distributed throughout the mixture. For example, sugar water is a homogeneous mixture.
A heterogeneous mixture is a mixture that has components which are not uniformly distributed
throughout the mixture. For example, a raisin bagel is a homogenous mixture. Since mixtures are
physically combined, they can be physically separated. Mixtures can be separated by decanting,
filtration, distillation, magnetic separation, and chromatography. Filtration is when ... Show more

For example, if iron filings and water is combined, then it is a heterogeneous mixture because the
iron filings are different states of matter and are not uniformly distributed in this mixture. Another
example would be black ink. Black ink is a homogeneous mixture because everything is uniformly
distributed to create one specific color. Continuing on, sodium chloride and water would be a
homogeneous mixture since the salt would be fully dissolved in the water and uniformly distributed.
During the experiment, if the filter paper tore and some sand and bits of paper were in the solution
in the flask, the correct solution to this problem would be to add another new filter paper to the torn
one. Then the solution should be poured and refiltered again in a different flask. When
chromatography was done on the color blue, it was concluded that that pigment that was most
soluble in water and less attracted to the water was the color cyan because it was on the top. If a
color is on the top, it means that that color was the one that dissolved the fastest and one that was
attracted to the water the most. The mass of the salt in the mixture could have been isolated and
measured by separating the iron filings from the rest of the mixture by using the process of magnetic
separation. The iron filings' mass would be measured. Then the sand could be separated from the
mixture by filtration. The sands' mass would be measured.

Analysis Of Cyan's Sunridge Chestnut
Blaze Cyan is a detailed printmaker who works in etching. His artwork beautifully discovers the
intricate beauty of the tree. Starting out by sketching with technical pens and watercolors, Cyan
reworks his pieces until he is able to make them unique. He uses old photographs to create the
artwork, to inspire his imagination and to create new possibilities. Using the structure, shape, and
texture of trees, he creates an image with unity and diversity. Beginning with the sugar lift and
aquatint method, Cyan creates a backdrop that varies in value in the tree. After etching the first time,
hard opaque ground covers the plate, which allows Cyan to create numerous linework. Cyan uses
black and white in his pieces to emphasize the complex design and add a impressive quality to his
work. "Sunridge Chesnut" created in 2011, is one of Cyan's ... Show more content on

His desire is for the viewer to appreciate not only the tree form itself, but also it's character.
Inspiration for creating his pieces come from Victorian illustrators and oriental prints. By looking at
these resources, Cyan came to the realization that no two will ever be alike. Each piece has unique
diversity that sets the individual artwork apart. "Sunridge Chestnut" illustrates this idea beautifully
as lines are used in different directions and the tree takes on almost a new shape of its own. One can
look at this piece for hours on end, without truly discovering the full artwork in its totality. Cyan
really desires the audience to almost be lost within the picture, continuing to look for new additions.
In "Hallowed Etching," Cyan uses multiple shapes and values to support this idea. One reason why
Cyan picked trees as subject matter was because its growth is gradual over time. Even at the end of
human life, a tree will (most likely) still be in place, calmly growing. The character of every tree
evolves into something stronger, deeper, and represents a ideal that is globally

Examples Of Constructed Colour Selection
constructed colour selection intensified the mood of each scene while escalating narrative
complexities such as secrecy and danger. A lack of colour can further increase a character's depth.
For instance, at the beginning of the film, we meet Marion Crane who is involved in a torrid love
affair with Sam Loomis (0:03:14). We discover that their romance often takes place in sleazy motels
with the passion kept secret from judgemental eyes. Despite implying that their rendezvous is
scandalous, Marion is shown wearing a white bra and slip which hints at her presumably modest
demeanour (0:03:14). Later on, we see Marion changing clothing again, except at this point she has
stolen forty–thousand dollars from her workplace (0:11:05). No longer wearing

Blue Black Boy Analysis
"The Power of a Picture"
One of the most intriguing and influential images included in Citizen by Claudia Rankine is the
image entitled Blue Black Boy. Blue Black Boy is a visual work of art created by Carrie Mae
Weems in 1990's; Weems is a very successful female African American artist. Through a close
reading of the image, I was able to derive meaning out of the various aspects that work together to
create such an eloquent work of art. In its formal aspects, Blue Black Boy has several important
'ingredients' that lead to its overall meaning. To start, the first thing I noticed is the vibrant white
shirt the African American boy is wearing; it really stuck out to me and was brought into the
foreground of the image. This immediately connected with ideas mentioned earlier in Rankine's
book, "_______" (Rankine __). The white shirt as with the white background make the subject stand
out and a ripe target for scrutiny. Another very intriguing aspect of the image is the words under
each of the sequential identical pictures of the boy. Under the first picture is the word blue with the
others being black and boy respectively. I believe Weems is implying how ... Show more content on

Many of the ideas presented in her work, Blue Black Boy, are ones she has had to face in her own

very prevalent; every aspect of life was exposed to. These feelings by society and ___ of racism
have attributed to the formal aspects mentioned above and shaped how Weems created her work of
art. While there was a great deal of racism, many having been pushing for equality amongst races.
Weems can be seen as one of the many pushing for equality and I see Blue Black Boy as an attempt
to raise a question within society about the treatment of African

Timurid Mihrab Essay
In the Timurid Mihrab, the artist uses line, high relief, and vibrant primary and secondary colors to
convey a sense of whimsical but organized piece, emphasis of line and color, thus representing the
feel of the Timurid era, and harmonious aesthetics of Islamic tile work.
This piece was created in the second half of the 14th century between(c. 1370–1507), and has
believed to be used as an adornment to mosques, mausoleums, and other dynastic buildings.
The colors of the Timurid Mihrab, white, cyan, and blue do a great job of catching the eye and

emphasis of the art piece. The colors make it stand out even more thanks to the glaze on the tile

The dark blue on the exterior seems to have a dark value, but the most eye–catching part of the
artwork accentuates the value of the color cyan, which makes the piece light up and easily brightens
it therefore making it come to life. Along with the color, the most obvious and appealing part of the
Timurid Mihrab is the line used in the carvings while they are not the most common line we
automatically think of, they are organic and asymmetrical and thats what makes it so beautiful and
distinct. The more you look at it the more your mind wants to look for a pattern or a specific way the
lines are organized, if you look closely you can see that these lines create flowers, leaves and
palmettes. The outline of the center tends to act as a guide for your eyes and additionally the vine–
like lines mark the perimeter of what almost seems to be the shape of a cross. The dark blue part of
the piece has the same type of natural and spontaneous lines that just brings the whole artwork
together. Additionally the white line or the border is seen almost as

Comparing The Cage And Black-Colored Bird Experiments

  • 1. Comparing The Cage And Black-Colored Bird Experiments The first illusion I conducted an experiment with was the "Bird in a Cage" illusion. In the illusion, there were two parrots. One green parrot and one red cardinal facing each other with a cage in– between them. The instructions were to concentrate on the eye of the red parrot for twenty seconds and then look at the center of the cage. The following instructions were to do the same experiment, but with the green cardinal next. When looking in the cage after the twenty seconds, you could see a glimmer of a faint cyan–colored bird. Likewise, with the green bird, you could see a faint magenta– colored bird. This illusion is based on the idea of an 'afterimage'. An afterimage is fairly self– explanatory. It is essentially an image that your brain continues to see even after you have looked away from the object itself. Light sensitive cells, called cones, are affected by the colors of what you are looking at. The sudden change of these lights can cause a ghost image that is a different light color. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both the black lines and white lines had a grey rectangle inside of the line. From first glance, you assume that the two greys are completely different shades. That, however, was not the case. Once you remove the black lines entirely, the greys magically appear to be the exact same shade. This illusion shows how your brain is highly affected by the difference between the dark light and the bright light. The lighter looking grey was in the black line, while the darker was in the white line. This shows how our brain changes its perception based on comparison of the light around ... • 3. Nashville: A Short Story On this particular Saturday night, the air was muggy, humid, and an undemanding thing like breathing felt almost impossible to do. The only breeze I felt was from running with my friends at full capacity, trying to escape from the danger of the two homeless men following at our feet, in downtown Nashville. I knew my sister should not have given them her leftover food at that moment in time, but she never listens. In fact, any animal would be more attentive of what I am speaking. Sometimes you decide to do good things for that good ole' Karma, but in this case, the outcome of getting chased through the streets of Nashville was not what was anticipated. Plans do not always go the way we want them and that is okay because we need those radical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The whole gang, which includes Paige, Brandon, Cyan, Jocelyn, and I, left The Spaghetti Factory. We started walking toward the general direction of the Public Square Park, which is where the concert was going to be held. Darkness had approached us, the sky was now pitch–black, and everywhere I looked, there were oceans of people, walking towards Live on the Green. Some people were dressed up and were wearing clothing that resembles that of a Fashionista. Then there were your "hipsters," who dress up as homeless people, which made them look "groovy" and "funky". We on the other hand, resided in the middle of that scale where we did not dress to impress, but certainly did not look shabby. Nobody felt like making their ways through the crowds or maneuvering through openings between people; therefore, Brandon, who has some knowledge on the area and knows his way around Nashville from how frequently he goes, suggested we take a short cut. As our walk continues, Brandon points to this pitch–black, sketchy looking alley and states the obvious,"So guys that might look a little bit creepy, but it is our best shot to getting to the concert faster." We all reply with, "We hate you Brandon", but it's not like we had a choice and we began to descend down the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

No one comes into my shop, except for my regulars, anymore. No one believes in old styled medicine, anymore. No one, except, for the boy roaming in my shop comes in, anymore. He looks about fourteen and a little dirty, but who isn't at his age. His footsteps cause my discolored floorboards to creak, I hope he doesn't fall through one of them. His green eyes look lost, but his body knows where he is. He looks at his watch, heads for the door to the left and a few steps behind him, sighs, and resets another timer. "See you, Mister." The boy abruptly says as he exits out the door. Strange. That boy never says a word to me, but I guess the candies piqued his interest. I look at the time and as usual he leaves at the same time as well, a quarter past three. I come out from behind the queue window, and find myself in front of the carton candy container. I reach in and pull out the same four candies the boy had pulled out. He picked out four very random, but very colorfully wrapped candies, Sleep, Energy, Revitalize, and Focus. Sleep is the cyan wrapped candy he spoke about, which is also very bitter, due to the amount of dandelion greens use to make it. Energy is a neon orange wrapped candy, due to the hints of orange peel and ginger, this candy is meant to be taken the same as an eight–ounce Red Bull can. Revitalize is a salmon wrapped candy, and it is recommended to be taken by us older folk. It eases the stomach with the use of chamomile heads and almost cleanses the body with the use of mint. It can also be recommended to those who are often constipated. Then there is Focus, a brightly lavender wrapped candy made with gingko juice and pineapple, it helps people retain memory and gain more focus in their life. Graphic Incognito Analysis According to article "Graphic Incognito", writer Mark Owens says that modernism exported to America through Bauhaus, which was a European movement that came around World War 2. The movement in America took shape in the 1980s with the influence of a new cultural era that was personified in different mediums, especially in music. He argues that certain modernist design tactics were adopted by suburban kids raised during the Reagan era in the early 1980s that were in the post– punk, hardcore, underground music scene. First of all, he begins his essay with a quote from Paul Rand about how "timeless principles" were the only hope to achieve a style of quality in one's work. It was getting late, the wind was howling, and the storm clouds he heard about could be seen in the distance. He held tightly onto his luggage as he walked down a deserted road. There was only one other person than him on the road and he was heading for his home. "No, it's Mulholland, and thank you, the room is lovely," Christopher said as he walked in and studied the room. He set his luggage down and started unpacking. "When your done, please come down and sign the book Mr. Mulholland," the landlady said as she left the room. A few minutes later, Christopher made it back down to the lobby. He started thinking that she was a bit dotty as he reached the book. He opened it up and signed it, noticing he was the first one to write a name down. Suddenly, a colorful parrot flew down the stairs and landed in a birdcage. The parrot startled Christopher so much, he almost fell backwards. "Hello, Hello," the parrot squawked at Christopher. "Hello little parrot," he whispered with a smile. "So I see you met my little parrot, Ginger," the landlady said as she came into the room with a silver tea tray. She came over and sat the tray down onto the table. "Oh, I have a question," Christopher said as he turned around and saw her already pouring out some tea. "Why is my name the only name in the book? • 19. Prosopagnosia In Charles Thomas 'Chuck' Close's Life Charles Thomas 'Chuck' Close was born an only child in 1940 Monroe, Washington to parents that both held a sight for artistic endeavors. He is known to everyone outside of his family as 'Chuck,' a name he has always hated. It was in high school where he made attempts at individuation that he started referring to himself as Chuck. Only by an accidental dubbing taken place during an interview in 1968 that this stuck as his professional art name. His father passed away when Chuck was eleven forcing him and his mother to move homes for the fifth time by the age of twelve. Growing up, Close showed difficulty in his academics and social life which led to being tested and diagnosed with dyslexia. Out of his learning disability it became apparent that he suffered from another disability known as prosopagnosia. Prosopagnosia is a condition in which he cannot recognize faces. He stated that "people I look at all look immediately familiar to me, but I have tremendous difficulty figuring out who it is and where I've seen them before. I never can memorize." He developed his own system of memorizing by sensory deprivation and used art as a way to prove that he wasn't exaggerating his condition. Upon graduating high school he attended ... • 21. Serial Dilution Lab Report The purpose of the experiment was to identify the concentration of an unknown solution by performing a serial dilution to provide reference for comparison. Serial dilutions are extremely useful for identifying unknown substances as the gradual discolouration of the solution allows for simple comparison. Although serial dilutions are extremely helpful for chemists, they are often used to help microbiologists reliably count the number of bacteria living in a host or an environment. Blodgett states that serial dilutions can help estimate the concentration of target microbes in a sample; this estimation is useful when counting the bacteria for low concentrations of organisms (Blodgett, 2013). Having an estimate of the concentration of bacteria ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A relationship can be identified between the colour of the solution versus the concentration of the solution. The smaller the concentration of the solution, the more discoloured the solution will become as shown in Table 1. As the dilutions continued the solutions gradually lost their cyan tint creating a gradient of comparison for the unknown solution. The relationship between concentration and colour is therefore completely linear. The human eye perceives light absorbency as colour due to the range of visible light determined by wavelength. The Beer–Lambert Law states that the capacity of a dissolved substance to absorb light is directly proportional to its concentration (Rafferty, 2009). From this relationship it is known that the more concentrated a solution is, the higher its absorbency is and because the human eye interprets absorbency as colour; the more concentrated a solution is, the more intense its colour is. On the molecular level, it is apparent that more concentrated solutions have a higher capacity to absorb light because there are more molecules in the concentrated solutions to interact with to absorb the light. The reason why 50mL of solution was made for each concentration was to provide a constant standard for comparison, but also because a uniform volume ensures that a proportionate amount of solute is dissolved into each solution. The mass or volume of solute needed must be calculated in order to perform the serial dilution correctly. Therefore is a relationship between volume of solvent & the mass of the solute to determine the concentration of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mass media –– film, entertainment, internet, gaming, architecture and data visualization –– have taken new shapes around these display technologies. One important thing to note about all these displays is that all output only 2D imagery. They create a two–dimensional array of colored picture elements a.k.a. pixels that, stacked tightly next to each other, project images or text. This ability to resolve depth within in a scene either natural or virtual improves spatial understanding of the scene and reduces the cognitive load associated with analysis and collaboration on complex tasks. With recent advancements in technology, true 3D displays are making their way into mainstream. 3D display technologies are stereoscopic or autostereoscopic. Autostereoscopic displays do not require wearing special eye glasses to view the 3D content. Light Field Displays and 3D volumetric displays are examples of autostereoscopic displays. On the other hand, binocular stereoscopic displays require special eyewear to be able to view the 3D content, In many 3D display technologies, multiple views are typically used to give a sense of depth and perspective. A survey by Air Force Research Laboratory(AFRL) suggests Joint Terminal Attack Controllers(JTACs) who were shown 3D holograms and conventional 2D images rated 3D holograms to be more effective than the 2D imagery in terms of retaining height information (Martin, Holzback, Riegler, Smith, & Ki Tam, 2008). Studies have also found that virtual reality devices can improve and enhance spatial ability and understanding by providing interactive 3D visualization (Lee, Wong, & Fung, 2009). • 32. New Dannonpa V3 Game Analysis I created an album cover for the original soundtracks of the game: New DanganRonpa V3. An album which contains all the soundtracks used in the game. This is a mystery game based around high school students who are trapped in a school setting. In order to escape, students must murder each other and lie through a debate without getting caught by the rest. The design of this game is inspired by the infamous psychological horror film, Saw. The design is largely made up of a colour that's close to magenta. The reason being that magenta is used to represent the colour of blood in the game. There is also a hidden face within the texts. • 34. Introduction To Identity The Unknow Acid Solution The purpose of this experiment is to identity the unknow acid solution through determining the Ka value of the reaction experimentally. The colors of unknown acid 3 matches the colors of test tube 1, with thymol blue being light pink, malachite green being dark green and crystal violet being cyan. Comparing it to other 3 test tubes, test tube 2 has a similar result. Both test tube 3 and 4 have higher Ph than 1 and 2, since thymol blue is yellow and crystal violet is purple in test tube 3, rose and blue in test tube 4. Crystal violet is green in test tube 2, which shows that it has a lower ph than test tube 1. So, the order of acidity from most acidic to least acidic is 2143. Dichloroacetic acid is the second strongest in those 4 acids; this suggests that unknown acid 3 is dichloroacetic acid. This allows it to be used in both weak acid–strong base and strong acid–strong base titration. In a weak acid and strong base titration, the equivalence point would be above 7 due to the reaction occur between the conjugated base and water. This often makes the pH value detectable by Phenolphthalein. In it, a pale blue whale of immense size surfaced and swam gently, like a dropping tear on a cheek. All the misery from around the world was drawn to the sea and formed its ripples. The whale swallowed the grief silently, from the northeast to the southwest, and the world was quiet and peaceful. Over time, the whale could no longer bear and hold the sorrows inside his body. The pain transformed and twisted into a long, grey tooth; it pierced through his forehead like a unicorn's horn. One day, people saw this anguished whale from the shore. They were amazed by a creature they had never seen before. They gazed at his splendid horn, and a strong greed grew inside of their hearts. People took boats, wood, and anything that could let them float. They surrounded the whale and trapped him, but the whale was too huge to be carried. So, they used thick ropes to hitch his head, ... I listed the thoughts below in the bullet points. The color scheme of this painting was very chaotic. The outside areas were vibrants shades of yellow, green, and some blue. The inner center section of the painting was dark red with a big blotch of black covering it. Other students took the hidden shades of colors to stand for the bravery that most citizens stereotype war with. However, in reality their is only blood stains that cover everything and war is just an act of foolishness. So it is concludes that when these varying viewpoints collided you create a massive surge of chaos and bloodshed. The other thing interesting about the painting was the setting of the picture. Unlike most paintings this one was set inside a frame that resembled a barrier. This was very creative and gave the viewer the sense that all these soldiers are trapped in this vortex of unending bloodshed. Their was a part of the canvas that seemed to run out of the boundaries of the frame. It was interesting how the blue line leading away from the scene closely resembled a river. It felt as if many of the soldier may have tried to escape from this gruesome setting by flowing out of the picture and maybe forgetting all the memories. There are two types of mixtures, which are homogeneous mixtures and heterogeneous mixtures. Homogeneous mixtures are mixtures that have components which are uniformly distributed throughout the mixture. For example, sugar water is a homogeneous mixture. A heterogeneous mixture is a mixture that has components which are not uniformly distributed throughout the mixture. For example, a raisin bagel is a homogenous mixture. Filtration is when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, if iron filings and water is combined, then it is a heterogeneous mixture because the iron filings are different states of matter and are not uniformly distributed in this mixture. Another example would be black ink. Black ink is a homogeneous mixture because everything is uniformly distributed to create one specific color. Continuing on, sodium chloride and water would be a homogeneous mixture since the salt would be fully dissolved in the water and uniformly distributed. During the experiment, if the filter paper tore and some sand and bits of paper were in the solution in the flask, the correct solution to this problem would be to add another new filter paper to the torn one. Then the solution should be poured and refiltered again in a different flask. When chromatography was done on the color blue, it was concluded that that pigment that was most soluble in water and less attracted to the water was the color cyan because it was on the top. If a color is on the top, it means that that color was the one that dissolved the fastest and one that was attracted to the water the most. The mass of the salt in the mixture could have been isolated and measured by separating the iron filings from the rest of the mixture by using the process of magnetic separation. Starting out by sketching with technical pens and watercolors, Cyan reworks his pieces until he is able to make them unique. He uses old photographs to create the artwork, to inspire his imagination and to create new possibilities. Using the structure, shape, and texture of trees, he creates an image with unity and diversity. Beginning with the sugar lift and aquatint method, Cyan creates a backdrop that varies in value in the tree. After etching the first time, hard opaque ground covers the plate, which allows Cyan to create numerous linework. "Sunridge Chestnut" illustrates this idea beautifully as lines are used in different directions and the tree takes on almost a new shape of its own. One can look at this piece for hours on end, without truly discovering the full artwork in its totality. Cyan really desires the audience to almost be lost within the picture, continuing to look for new additions. In "Hallowed Etching," Cyan uses multiple shapes and values to support this idea. • 68. Pansia Argumentative Essay Three Changes before the first ever departure of the Sonic Line N043, Pansia was in cleavage. On one side the fear, the envious hatred, the general awareness of a more than symbolic abandonment and the sad rationality regarding the possible consequences of the first ever migration of about a quarter of our species; on the other one preparations, euphoria, the maniacal observation of the quiet space nebulized in the universe's infinite mirror: the soon–to–be exile Pansia sitting on the threshold of the planetoid, looking for itself in the darkness beyond Moon, forgetful even of the shaft displacement that was going to take place in conjunction with its take–off. You would have been no longer able to distinguish the grey species from the green ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 70. Blue Black Boy Analysis "The Power of a Picture" One of the most intriguing and influential images included in Citizen by Claudia Rankine is the image entitled Blue Black Boy. Blue Black Boy is a visual work of art created by Carrie Mae Weems in 1990's; Weems is a very successful female African American artist. Through a close reading of the image, I was able to derive meaning out of the various aspects that work together to create such an eloquent work of art. In its formal aspects, Blue Black Boy has several important 'ingredients' that lead to its overall meaning. To start, the first thing I noticed is the vibrant white shirt the African American boy is wearing; it really stuck out to me and was brought into the foreground of the image. This immediately connected with ideas mentioned earlier in Rankine's book, "_______" (Rankine __). The white shirt as with the white background make the subject stand out and a ripe target for scrutiny. Another very intriguing aspect of the image is the words under each of the sequential identical pictures of the boy. Under the first picture is the word blue with the others being black and boy respectively. I believe Weems is implying how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many of the ideas presented in her work, Blue Black Boy, are ones she has had to face in her own life. Living in America, she has been subjected to scrutiny based solely on her skin color as well as other forms of racism. Speaking of racism, Blue Black Boy, was created in a time where racism was very prevalent; every aspect of life was exposed to. These feelings by society and ___ of racism have attributed to the formal aspects mentioned above and shaped how Weems created her work of art. While there was a great deal of racism, many having been pushing for equality amongst races. Weems can be seen as one of the many pushing for equality and I see Blue Black Boy as an attempt to raise a question within society about the treatment of African ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 72. Timurid Mihrab Essay In the Timurid Mihrab, the artist uses line, high relief, and vibrant primary and secondary colors to convey a sense of whimsical but organized piece, emphasis of line and color, thus representing the feel of the Timurid era, and harmonious aesthetics of Islamic tile work. This piece was created in the second half of the 14th century between(c. 1370–1507), and has believed to be used as an adornment to mosques, mausoleums, and other dynastic buildings. The colors of the Timurid Mihrab, white, cyan, and blue do a great job of catching the eye and leading into what is initially the perimeter then the dark blue and then the cyan which is the emphasis of the art piece. The colors make it stand out even more thanks to the glaze on the tile causing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The dark blue on the exterior seems to have a dark value, but the most eye–catching part of the artwork accentuates the value of the color cyan, which makes the piece light up and easily brightens it therefore making it come to life. Along with the color, the most obvious and appealing part of the Timurid Mihrab is the line used in the carvings while they are not the most common line we automatically think of, they are organic and asymmetrical and thats what makes it so beautiful and distinct. The more you look at it the more your mind wants to look for a pattern or a specific way the lines are organized, if you look closely you can see that these lines create flowers, leaves and palmettes. The outline of the center tends to act as a guide for your eyes and additionally the vine– like lines mark the perimeter of what almost seems to be the shape of a cross. The dark blue part of the piece has the same type of natural and spontaneous lines that just brings the whole artwork together. Additionally the white line or the border is seen almost as ... • 74. Nt1310 Unit 1 Simulation Paper We have created a network with the campus area of 500X500square meters taking 20 numbers of ad hoc nodes forming a network, the transmission range 200m. The network is simulated using high capacity processor and the OPNET and MATLAB7 platform. Such a simulated result is shown in Fig.1. In simulated network the source node designated as1 initiates the routing procedure by sending RREQ or Route Request message to its surrounding nodes. The RREQ message sent by the source node is denoted in the color green. The other RREQ messages are shown in cyan, yellow, black etc. The source node 1 is sending the RREQ message to its neighbour nodes 5, 6, 9, 11 and 13 and the links are formed shown by the green line. Every time node 5,6,9,11,13 is sending the RREQ message to its neighbour and the links are formed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shore durometer PCE–DXA was used to measure hardness all the four blankets, which came out as 82 shore A. Later to this, printing pressure between blanket and impression cylinder was measured using a Nip Control Pressure Indicator. On each printing unit, three different pressures between blanket cylinder and impression cylinder were applied and three measurements were taken on different positions of each printing unit. Sheet–fed offset machine KBA Rapida 75 was used for printing with FUJIFILM Brillia printing plate. Using black, cyan, magenta and yellow color sequence, 200 sheets of gloss ... Two sequences, YMCK and MYCK were selected based on an informal survey. Next two, CMYK and KCMY were selected because they are industry standards. And last KYMC was selected based on a suggestion from expert. Printing units were interchanged and press runs were conducted in sequence YMCK, MYCK, CMYK, KCMY and KYMC. Dora offset printing machine was used to perform press runs in a pre–specified pressroom condition maintained at 280C temperature and 45% relative humidity. Art paper was used as substrate for the study. With the help of spectrophotometer X–Rite 528, LAB values, contrast of different samples and density values were measured. Data was analyzed by suitable statistical, quantitative methods and tools. It was found that value of LAB, contrast and density varied for different ink sequence. Results were shown category wise for LAB values , density and contrast as follows: LAB value: KCMY sequence is more suitable for Blue, Brown and Violet color. Whereas CMYK, MYCK, YMCK, and KYMC sequence were appropriate for Orange, Green, Red and Purple color according to delta E values. Density: It was found that maximum and minimum value for Red & Green color was obtained for sequences YMCK and MYCK at various density percentages. For Blue color, all the sequence give same value ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
