Bushy Park Informative Speech
It is July and we just finished celebrating Independence Day. We are six months into 2015, so are
how are we doing here at Bushy Park?
First and foremost, we have not had a recordable incident or a lost time incident. Congratulations,
but do not get complacent. Accidents that happen in the blink of an eye can impact you and your
family for the rest of your life. It is summer and there are plenty of distractions: vacations, outdoor
activities and just trying to survive the summer heat. Pay attention to your tasks and be aware of
your surroundings.
Half–way through the year our volumes remain flat since 2014. Our domestic volume (US
customers) is down due to lost business at International Paper. However, our export volume (mainly
to Germany)

Once upon a time, there was a prosperous kingdom name...
Once upon a time, there was a prosperous kingdom name Hegel. It was ruled by a wise king named
King Hernandez. The king and queen of Hegel had seven good– looking princesses name Red,
Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet. Each of their names has represented their
characteristic. Among of them, the youngest daughter, princess Violet is the most beautiful. She has
an ideal body shape, softly spoken, the flawless skin as silk, the red moist lip and the beautiful long
hair. She required every man wishes, everyone enchanted by her beauty.
One day, the seven princesses were playing in the brook. The calm water is flowing across and the
birds were singing around. Meanwhile, Prince Mitch from the Aldon kingdom, and his guardsmen

Feeling embarrassed and anger to hear it, the Prince was up in arms. The prince went back to his
castle. Steered by his anger, he started to make a plan for revenge. The Prince ordered his
Commander and soldiers to attack Hegel kingdom. All soldiers were armed to the teeth. Then, the
fierce war between them was unavoidable to happen.
King Hernandez was so worried with the war. He was really concerned with her seven daughters. He
asked soldiers to bring her daughters in a safe place in the rainbow jungle. The soldiers built a hut
for the seven princesses. The king also asked the soldiers to provide food for 3 months. After the
soldiers were sure that the seven daughter were safe, they went back to join the war.
The sky was bruised with a swell of dark clouds on the western horizon. Time passed, the battle was
still broke out. The King was cornered and his warriors decreased in number. Hegel Kingdom was
completely destroyed. Many died during the war. Seeing the ruins of his people, He tried to find a
way to stop this war.
One day, King Hernandez heard that prince Mitch and his warriors having party near the river.
Music rises along with the sweet sound of the singers, people ate and laugh, the atmosphere is heat
up in there. King Hernandez and his solders hide in the bushes. In the middle of the night while their
entire enemies were sleeping, they started their plan. They tried to sneak in the enemy camp's, they

Descriptive Essay
The fresh grass tickled his sticky body as he crushed the living daylights out of them. Beneath the
sun's gaze, he laid still while absorbing the beauty of the outside world. It was perfect.
"Run," an elderly man shouted at his students, interrupting his photosynthesis moment.
"Off the ground, Junho." Junho's eyes unlocked, his vision flooded with the cotton clouds and baby
blue sky. The lively looking grass unfolded as Junho hustled to his rowdy coach. The day was too
perfect.
Preparing himself to run off with much confidence, rain broke out, abruptly stopping him as he
made his first step to sprint. Junho took his eyes off the finish line and fixed his stare upon the
upsetting clouds. Keeping his stare upon the gray clouds, he tilted ... Show more content on

Within a few minutes, Junho reached into his stiff pocket and piled a blue and white deck of cards
on top of his books along with his white bulky headphones. His headphones shielded rounded ears
from the rambling students.
"As time goes by,
I only let out sighs.
Always blaming the heavens
Pounding the floor in regret.
Isn't that why
I couldn't fly or walk?"
Consciously stacking card after card, Junho had formed a house of cards. It was perfect. Finishing
his masterpiece, he looked back to the rain, building more sighs and the tear–shaped rain fell
constantly. Song after song, his view was filled with the house of cards. Three layers of cards,
stacked upon one another. Without the bottom, the tower is unstable. Without the bottom, the whole
house falls and is no longer one. Without the bottom, the house is nothing. At that very moment, the
bell rang and interrupted his gaze. His eyes shifted as the bell rang throughout the school startling
him. But he wasn't the only one startled, the cards collapsed. Junho stared at the fallen cards as the
faint beeping rang once more.
The bus stop was in full view from where Junho stood. He had to run. The bus wasn't too far away
from it's designated destination. With such little thought, he prepared himself once more to run. As
soon as he met contact with the concrete floor a drop of water targetted him. Rain. Drip drop. One
fell right after another like a cycle. The perfect day had been ruined again by the drizzling rain.

Analysis Of Lee 's ' The Great Gatsby ' By F. Scott...
At the age of 1 to 16, there is one odd girl who had turned my world upside down. Daphne Lee was
born on February 5th, 1997. She lived in Colorado with her parents and little brother. From the
outside, she seems completely ordinary, but not so much on the inside. She does not have any
problems mentally or physically, though I am surprised she does not. She has changed my
perspective on everything. Her obligation to rainbow bunnies can be a bit bizarre, but her persona is
wonderful and bright if you are ever in need of some sunshine. Her actions can be embarrassing and
troublesome, but that is what makes her different from the rest of the world.
When we were little, she would always want to eat skittles, play bunny games, "explore" as she ...

Even during the summer, she will wear them with her sandals. Nothing looks wrong with her feet,
she just really loves socks. They are not the ordinary kinds of socks, though. Sadly they are the
kiddy kind. She has two drawers filled entirely with them. From my perspective, it seems like she
has enough to last her for two years. Periodically she chooses to speak a different language. One day
she speaks English, the next day Spanish, etc. and gibberish eventually. Her taste in music is very
interesting because she seemed like the kind of person who liked happy songs, but she actually likes
very dark music such as metal and screamo. My cousin is very different from our other relatives I
have met, yet that is what I like about her.
In public, she gets really crazy. Not just a little crazy but hyper crazy. She is constantly up and
about. She is not afraid to blare her music for the whole world to hear. People are usually looking
over their shoulders, their attention to the creepy dancing ballerina bunny. I try to keep my distance.
When there is candy involved, there is more crazy to come. She gets as mad as a hatter; Singing,
skipping, hopping, and running around in circles. When nonsense talking becomes involved, I
usually speed walk to the car while she runs to catch up to me with her bunny ears flopping up and
down. The positive side of this crazy girl is that people get to have a good laugh. Her feelings will

Personal Narrative: Everything Is Normal In Prison
Everything is normal in the prison, or at least as normal as a prison can be, until I look in the mirror.
Every time I look in the mirror, without fail, I see myself as a school boy. Everyday, I go to my job,
making license plates in the shop. Other than lunch in the old brick lunchroom and my few
bathroom breaks, I stay there until bedtime. At bedtime I retreat through long corridors, past endless
cells, and finally arrive at my room. Though sparse and uninviting, I always feel intense relief when
I return. I lie in my bed and am asleep within minutes of my head hitting the pillow. In the morning,
the buzzer sounds, the light blazes on, and I get up to repeat the cycle. After countless months of this
cycle, I notice something askew. It's hard ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everyone around me seems to have been knocked down a level in their mental faculties.
Conversations take a second longer, the guards are less attentive. I put it aside because I think that it
is just my imagination, and I go about my routine. Wake up, work, sleep, wake up, work, sleep,
wake up... and on and on endlessly. Things start to get back to normal, until the dream. I can't really
remember the dream, but it was jarring. Now and then, snippets come back to me and I begin to
relive the hellish night. It is on these nights that I sit down and drink a full bottle of whiskey before
going to bed. On that night, I woke up from the dream in a cold sweat. I got up and went to wash my
face. As I opened my eyes, I saw the same young, innocent face that always stared back at me. I hit
the mirror, meaning to smash it, but my fist went straight through. Incredulously, I stared at my hand
and, seeing it unchanged, thrust it back into the void. I pulled it back the second time, and then
thrust my head in. Expecting to see some incredible space void, I was disappointed to find only a
bathroom. I jumped through the mirror, and found that the bathroom was identical to my room in

Radiohead Research Paper
Exactly six months to the day before Donald Trump was elected president of the United States,
Radiohead released their eerily prescient and hypnotic ninth album, A Moon Shaped Pool, to great
fanfare. Nothing could have foretold the future more than the lyrics to the opening song, "Burn the
Witch": "Abandon all reason / avoid all eye contact / this is a low–flying panic attack." Backed by a
repetitive and sawing string arrangement and an equally disturbing music video, it's one of the most
overtly political songs Radiohead has ever done, as well as one of their all–time best. The following
track, "Daydreaming" is nearly as good, with vocal loops and mournful piano reminiscent of
Radiohead's very best work from 2000's Kid A. The final minute ... Show more content on

Each song transitions smoothly into the next one, with a prime example being the smooth transition
from the "Decks Dark," a guitar–driven, hooky number reminiscent of the band's OK Computer era
down to its extraterrestrial subject matter, to "Desert Island Disc," a low–key, Nick Drake–esque
acoustic ballad. The songs all deal with the same underlying themes of heartbreak and, especially, a
deep–rooted paranoia, a common subject matter in Radiohead songs. Although Radiohead were
once pegged as the "preeminent doomsayers" (Greene) of a generation, their characteristic paranoia
is more understandable now than ever

Rather than rockets, Vineland opens with carrier pigeons (coming from the east, from Europe?), and
blue jays (screaming, nest–stealing birds)––and messages: gone too late to be read, perhaps ever to

"Too late, too late" runs like the background hum of an amplifier throughout the opening of this

Analysis Of Delightrope
Janelle Monáes "Tightrope" is an empowering piece that is directed towards all groups and ages.
The "hip" beat, electric sounds, and encouraging lyrics lifts spirits, and can inspire anyone that is
discouraged from life. Her music is mainly comprised of uplifting songs that are relatable for most,
and aids in restoring confidence. This song communicates with the listener that we should be
confident in ourselves as a person (as we ALL have something unique and special about us), and to
stay "balanced" despite the negativity coming from others and our environment. In this particular
part of the song she sings "When you get elevated/ They love it or they hate it/ You dance on them
haters/ Keep getting funky on the scene". In other words, there's

Theme Of Gravity In Gravity's Rainbow
Gravity's Rainbow as a title maybe seem to hardly combine an academic term ''gravity'' with the
poetic image of the rainbow. The connection of the eponymous rainbow to the Rocket, the
mathematical formulas used to the ravage of its dash are generally noted while this essay takes the
counterchange angle and focuses on the more instantly scientific part of the novel's title and the less
lightly noted attached of gravity to fiction. Analysing the role of fiction in the scientific way of

Underlying this essay is the discussion point that scientific and ethical aspects have a connection
with Gravity's Rainbow, most of all in the concepts of gravity and sloth, and that they have to be
deliberate together in a physico analysis. For this purpose, I should analyze the certainty
metaphorical role of different concepts of gravity in Gravity's Rainbow, from the seventeenth–
century conflict between Isaac Newton and Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz to the theory of relativity
formulated by Albert Einstein, and examine the consequences of this view for notions of force,
impedance, grace and sloth. Firstly will present the relation of gravity to concepts of force and
fiction and to ethical thoughts around the difference between Elect and Preterite in Pynchon's novel.
After that I will compare this presentation of seventeenth–century understandings of gravity with
growing in Einstein's theory of relativity, which characterize the pessimistic and optimistic readings
of the novel to which Newtonian and Leibnizian understandings of gravitation alternately give rise.

The Theory On Rainbow Formation And The Mechanics Of Them...
Rainbows and the mechanics of them have been studied since ancient times. Greek philosophers had
some understanding of the role of refraction, scientists in the 13th century produced theories on
rainbow formation, and in the 17th century, Rene Descartes sketched out the conditions required to
observe a rainbow (Douma).
There are two key aspects that affect a rainbow, and these include the altitude of the sun and the size
of the raindrops. The colors of the rainbow are because of two basic facts:
Sunlight is made up of the whole range of colors that the eye can detect. The range of sunlight
colors, when combined, looks white to the eye. This property of sunlight was first demonstrated by
Sir Isaac Newton in 1666.
Light of different colors is refracted by different amounts when it passes from one medium (air, for
example) into another (water or glass, for example) (University Corporation for Atmospheric
Research).
Determining whether or not the wavelengths will go through the raindrops or reflect depends on the
angle that the light falls on the backside of the raindrop. Each rain droplet has a function in the
formation of the rainbow. Sunlight enters the rain droplet at a specific angle and the rain droplet
separates the white light into many different colors. This angle is a fixed measurement between your
eye and the sun. What color that is refracted is dependent on the critical angle, the angle the sunlight
strikes the back of the rain droplet (Mahlen). Red

Write An Essay On Water Erosion
Water Erosion
Background
Erosion is the wearing away of sand soil or rock by water, or wind. Water erosion is the separation
and removal of soil. Water erosion occurs by rain carrying away bits of soil and slowly washing
away rock fragments (Society). Rushing streams and rivers wear away their banks, creating larger
and larger valleys. Water erosion can occur on streams, river banks, sea shores and seaside cliffs.
There are also different types of water erosion like sheet erosion. Sheet erosion is when water
washes away soil from the surface. Another type of water erosion is splash erosion. Splash erosion is
the movement of soil by a water droplet. Water erosion occurs more frequently in the spring because
it rains more, the rain then washes away rock fragments. An example of water erosion is the
colorado river. It cut deep into the land and formed the grand canyon.
Purpose
The purpose of this experiment is to examine the impact of water erosion on soil due to splash
erosion.
Hypothesis
If the height of the water increases then the amount of soil erosion will increase because the speed of
the water will create more pressure on the soil causing the soil to move further.
Procedure
Get a 600mL beaker and measure out 500mL of soil
Grab a tray and place the soil on the tray. Flip the beaker upside down on the tray and remove the
beaker so that there is a pile of dirt on the tray.
Measure the height of the dirt. It should be 2 inches tall.
Grab a 250 mL graduated cylinder

Social Security Cost Analysis
Giselle: 2009#1 Looking at the numbers, the very tangible loss of money––money funneled
seemingly endlessly into space, into technologies that we abandon, into missions that may fail, into
promises of progress ten, twenty, fifty years from now––it can be difficult to justify that immediate
loss with the seemingly insufficient immediate gain, the gain of nothing but knowledge––so very
intangible that it is. Perhaps this is frustration is born from the fact that we have never done anything
like this before––we have never before been able to leave home for something so infinitely vast. We
have never before been faced with the reality that we are so impossibly small. The world has grown
so large in such a very short time, and the average person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the United States, Social Security comes first, taking about 21% of the federal budget in 2006,
with national defense coming second at 19%. Then, comes income security, Medicare, health, and
the interest incurred by the national debt before "all others" comes. "All others" (taking 6% of the
federal budget) refers to a multitude of things, including space and technology, but also including
international affairs, administration of justice, natural resources and environment, agriculture, and
energy, among others (Chamberlain). It is clear that when compared to major federal expenditures,
money funneled to space exploration is so fractional as to not be concisely accounted for. The
question regarding money, however, is not how much, necessarily, is being spent, but if it itself is
necessary. The question of necessity is, itself, difficult to answer no matter the evidence provided.
When the Social Security Act was first introduced as part of Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal, some
thought it was unnecessary. Some argue, today, that the US overspends on its defense sector and has
since it entered WWII. Space is different, though, because it is so very new to us. It is almost
completely unexplored, and surely has a vast wealth of resources useful to those on Earth, but it is
neutral, and no one nation can claim any of those resources. Ultimately, space is a playground for
science, and it can be difficult for the average American (who is not employed in a space technology
industry) to justify funding a venture that seems to be without

He acts like he is better that everyone. In the Rainbow Fish, Marcus Pfister, shows personal growth

The rainbowfish is very conceded and selfish. He doesn't like to share. He thinks he is better that

When he asked for a scale. His tone was rude and showed that he did not care for the little fish's

He has a terrible personality, but we all can change.
The rainbow fish is confused. He does not understand why nobody likes him. And he thinks the only
thing to life is beauty. When he said no to the little fish he told everyone and now they do not want
to be friends with a mean fish. The rainbow fish does not understand this. He doesn't think he can be
happy without his scales. He asked the starfish "I'm so beautiful. Why doesn't anybody like me?"
(paragraph 6) . He did not understand why so he was asking the starfish why everyone disliked him.
Also after the wise octopus told him what to do the rainbowfish said quietly to himself "Give away
my scales? My beautiful shining scales? Never.
How could I ever be happy without them?"(paragraph 8). He is also confused here because he does
not think he can be happy without his beauty. The rainbow fish is weary of the octopus's instructions

The Tunnel By William Gass
Some people believe that lies will always be bitter in the end, no matter how sweet you make them
in the beginning. In William Gass' The Tunnel, he expounds the validity of this belief by taking the
reader on an emotionally evolving journey, as he recounts the self–realization of a young boy, who's
frightening lie unravels in front of not only his own eyes, but also the readers. Gass successfully
enriches this story with striking imagery, symbolism, and comparisons; exposing how no matter
how sweet you make a lie in the beginning, it will always turn bitter in the end.
The first paragraph plays an imperative role in the excerpt, for it introduces the reader to the
emotional despondency of the boy. William Gass successfully strikes the reader from the beginning,
for his two word opening, "lime slush" (line 1), prompts the reader to not only envisage a lime slush,
but also taste its sugary sweetness. However, the sweetness this imagery provides is short lasting,
for they are soon bombarded with countless caesuras, as he describes how "slush is supposed to be
water. That's what slush is. It certainly isn't sherbet! It wasn't a nice green. And there didn't seem to
be that much of it." (lines 2–3). The disappointment that entrenches the boy in these short but
concrete statements, successfully introduces the reader to his emotional bitterness, for not even the
lime slush's sweetness can sweeten it. The colour imagery does not stop there, for he describes how

Nala's Blue Raincoat: A Short Story
On an empty street during the middle of the day as well as the middle of a rainstorm, a single figure
could be seen running at full speed toward an old building with a faded sign that reads: THE Vita–
Store! The person running was in fact a girl by the name of Nala. Her blue raincoat was about two
sizes two big and her huge mass of hair was only half tucked into a bun, but she didn't seem to care.
Nala finally reached the store, and with a ring of the bell hanging from the door, she was inside and
away from the rain. Nala immediately hunched over and spent several minutes trying to catch her
breath with multiple wet coughs between each inhale she managed to get. Finally, Nala was able to
compose herself, and looked up. The room she stood in was filled wall–to–wall with vitamin bottles.
The collection was so enormous that deep purple hues of the walls could not be seen. There seemed
to be no rhyme or reason to the shelving or grouping of the vitamins. The only way to find what you
were looking for would be to search through all the bottles individually. Even though there was
hundreds of vitamin bottles in the room, most of them that Nala could see ... Show more content on

had a large tattoo covering her left arm, with similarly intricate designs. The last in the room was a

Analysis Of The Fish By Elizabeth Bishop
When Elizabeth Bishop writes of her experience catching a fish, she describes its intricate details,
essentially producing an ugly appearance of the fish. However, as her description continues, she
ponders the beauty of the fish on the inside. This correlates with how people tend to make a quick
judgment based on someone's appearance without taking the time to think about what their
personality or characteristics include. Or even to think about what that person has been through that
has caused them to look that way. Evidently, as the poem continues, Bishop reveals that the fish has
been through at least five battles, according to the physical scars left in its jaw. The fish, a symbol
for anyone who has dealt with difficulties during their life, will persevere even while the outside
world continues its routine. The world will never stop for one person or, in this case, an animal from
the poem, "The Fish." All other people follow through with their daily tasks and the sun still shines
in the morning. Comparably, in "The Fish," the crickets went on with their chatter and the soft rain
incessantly fell on the leaves and in the lake. Although neither of these setting features were
straightforwardly mentioned in the poem, assonance and consonance hinted at the presence of both
features. Specifically, the "ee" sound that resembles a cricket's call is found in one of the author's
descriptions of the fish, "...underneath two or three / rags of green weed hung down. / While his gills

A Story Of A Short Story
"Catch me if you can!" I yelled as I cantered away from my friend.
"Yeah right!" Anna yelled as she kicked her horse and came chasing after me. We stopped at my
grandpa's farm.
"We better put the horses away" I said as I dismounted.
"Yeah" Anna said while we walked to the stalls. Anna and I are best friends. We have been riding for
many years at my grandpa's farm. We were both 15 and started to ride at 5. We put the horses away,
un–tacked them and went to get some drinks in the house " Hey girls, how was your ride?" my
grandpa asked.
" Great, we saw some deer near the forest!" I replied. " Yeah it was beautiful" Anna exclaimed
. " You want to ride tomorrow?" grandpa said. " Of course" Anna and I said at the same time. We
laughed and ran to the waiting car.
" Hi Mrs. Kaup" I said as I got into the car. Mrs. Kaup was Anna's mom. " How was Diva and
April?" Mrs. Kaup asked. Diva is my horse. She is a 14 year, old flea bitten quarter horse. April is
Anna's dark bay trakehner. " They were good" I replied. After a quick drive I was home. " Thanks
for the ride Mrs. Kaup"
"No problem honey" she replied. "Don't forget Anna tomorrow at noon" I yelled as I ran into the
house. The next morning I looked out the window only to see it pouring rain. I checked my phone
and saw text from Anna. Are we still on for today?
Yeah I think so. Hopefully it will pass.

The Wedding Of Ursula Essay
When telling the story of Ursula's childhood, Lawrence tells us early on that, "Ursula was the one
for realities." (259). From this point it is apparent that her story is going to be different. While she
relies on the hard realities of life and is very caught up in the things outside of her, her mind–body
conscious self is just as active as Tom or Anna's. In fact, it may be even stronger for her because she
seems to be more aware of it: "She became aware of herself, that she was a separate entity in the
midst of an unseparated obscurity, that she must go somewhere, she must become something."
(Lawrence 281). She has her first experience with love at an early age, when she encounters Anton
Skrebensky. At one point during their courtship, Anton comes to the wedding of Ursula's uncle,
Fred, and Ursula has a very distinct experience similar to the one her mother Anna had in the
cornfield. "At the touch of her hand on his arm, his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Rainbow Formation Research Paper
Everyone enjoys the site of a rainbow expected after it rains on a sunny day; however, although a
rainbow formation is basic optics and geometry, it is highly misunderstood. Many understand the
appearance due to dispersion of light, but most do not realize what that entitles. What most people
do not expect when looking at a rainbow is that it moves as the observer moves (Cartwright, 1992).
Shown in the photo to the left, is a rainbow taken along the countryside in Missoula, Montana. To
further discuss how a rainbow works, one must understand the reflection–refraction theories that
cause such a formation. A wave theory of light developed by Auguste Fresnel describes the bands
that are located beneath a rainbow, which are not as visible ... Show more content on

Rays of light come from a fixed direction as bundles, which always are red–proving a greater
concentration of light from that fixed direction. This ray is called a caustic ray (Bim 1999). As the
height y of an incident ray increases from 0, the deflection of the outgoing ray decreases towards the
caustic ray, causing the y to pass the caustic ray, and the deflection increases again (Gordon de Pree,
Ph.D, 20) In specific conditions, the observer can see a secondary rainbow behind the primary
rainbow–weaker and inverse in spectra, with red on the inside and violet on the outside. According
to Cartwright's article on Rainbows, the space between red and violet, regardless of direction, is
called the Alexander's Dark band, which is noticeably darker than its surroundings. This way of
looking at the matter along the direction of minimum deviation is shown to be equivalent to

Reflection On Early Learning
This reflection reviews my time at Goodstart Early Learning in Kyneton and the four weeks I spent
there during my first practicum round. The review will critically reflect my experience from this
practicum, using readings and learnings my strengthens and weaknesses will be revealed. Strategies
will also be implemented in what areas I need to focus on before my next practicum round.
Something that I observed at the beginning of my practicum were the issues concerning behavioural
guidance. There was a group of four boys who required the greatest assistance, my experience in
managing people and being a parent quickly reminded me in how to best support them. Knowing
each child and what their abilities and interests are enable educators to respond sensitively and
appropriately to each child (Cohrssen, Church, & Tayler, 2011). I spoke with my mentor and other
educators and discovered the backgrounds of these boys and reasonings for their behaviours. I learnt
by observing the other educators how these behavioural guidance issues were managed and the
many techniques they used. Something I realised with the learning experiences I conducted was the
need to not speak too quickly and be clear and concise with my instructions. As I have had limited
interaction with young children as my stepchildren are now adults, I was unaccustomed in how to
effectively communicate with young children. At the beginning of my practicum the instructions and
direction I was attempting to provide were too

The Fish By Elizabeth Bishop Summary
Elizabeth Bishop's poem, "The Fish," details an account of someone's experience catching a fish.
The person catching the fish, presumed as the narrator, describes the fish's intricate details which
essentially gives it an ugly appearance. In an explication of "The Fish" from Bedford St. Martin's,
the analyzer also notes how the narrator's descriptions yield an ugly appearance of the fish, but with
further observation, the narrator realizes the beauty deep within the fish and the fact that the fish is a
warrior. The ugly description of the outside of the fish may correlate with how some people tend to
make a quick judgment based on someone's appearance without taking the time to think about what

from the center of violet line to center of yellow line? 3 spaces.
4. Finding the nm/space for your spectroscope:
= difference in wavelength /# of spaces between two lines
Using the violet and green lines: =(538nm–436nm)/( 2 ) = 50 nm/space (value#1)
Using the violet and yellow lines: =(580nm–436nm)/( 3 ) = 48 nm/space (value#2)
Average nm/space: = (Value #1 +Value #2)/2 = (50+48)/2 = 49 nm/space
Agreement of the two values: % difference = 100 x |value 1 – value 2|/(average value) = 100 x | 50 –

Physics of Rainbows Essay
When the Sun's light is refracted on passing through tiny rain droplets falling in the air a Rainbow is
formed. Rainbows only need light from the sun or the moon and a large amount of spherical
raindrops to form in the atmosphere. The rainbows can be compared to mini prisms. The light is
refracted ("bending of light as it passes from one medium to another") and it causes different
wavelengths (or colors) of the white light to separate. Whether these wavelengths of light will pass
through the raindrop or reflect depends on the angle the light strikes the back of the raindrop. If a
wavelength of the light strikes the back of the raindrop at an angle less than 48 degree relative to the
normal then the light will pass through the raindrop. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact a rainbow is made up of the entire spectrum of colors from red to violet and beyond to the
ultraviolet and infrared sections of the spectrum, which the eye is not capable of detecting.
The speed of the wavelength of white light before it hits the raindrop determines the color a raindrop
will emit. If the wavelength of white light travels at a slow speed, then the wavelength of light will
bend more when it enters the raindrop.
Wavelength of the color violet is bent the most when it enters the raindrop. While red light is bent the
least when it enters the raindrop. The violet light will emerge from the raindrop at an angle of 40
degrees relative to the observer's line of sight. While red light will emerge at an angle of 42 degrees.
Thus, violet light has the shortest wavelength. Red, being at the opposite edge, has the longest
wavelength. Moving from the violet edge through the colors to red at the opposite edge the
wavelength gets longer. Other colors of the spectrum can be seen in between 40 and 42 degrees
relative to the observer's line of sight. It is important to note that only one color of light is emitted
from each raindrop. A large amount of raindrops produce a wide spectrum of colors of a rainbow.
There are certain colors which cannot be seen by the eye. This is why the observer sees four to five
solid colors of a rainbow. The color bands of a rainbow always have the same order since the shorter
wavelengths of light are refracted

Reflection On Light And How Light Bendss In The Whitehouse
This following science lab reflection is about light and how it bends while it travels from one thing
to another. Our main goal for this lab was to discover how light bends. But the problem is that we
have to break–in and get past laser security in the Whitehouse. I hypothesised that, if we can bend
the light around us then we will be able to get past the laser security. If we shine water at the light
then the light will bend better and we will be able to get past the laser security and into the
Whitehouse. In this lab we used the mediums: air, water, and glass. We also used prisms, such as a
circle, square, and triangle. These materials all helped us figure out, which was the best to bend the
light with. What we did to find these results was through a computer simulation to test the way the
light bends with others objects and prisms. This is a short summary about what we did and used for
this Science Lab. When conducting this Lab we found many interesting findings. A few findings
were that when the light from the air hit the water the angle of refraction decreased to 22o compared
to the angle of incident/reflection of 30o. The opposite occurred when the light from the water hit
the air. The angle of refraction increased drastically to 42o when still compared at 30o angle of
incident/reflection. With the light from air to the glass, the angle of refraction decreased a lot to 19o
with the 30o angle of reflection/incident. Things I can say after these results are that the

The Rainbow Fish By Marcus Pfiter
In my final picture book read aloud, I am going to read The Rainbow Fish, by Marcus Pfister. The
main element of craft that I am going to highlight are the illustrations. The illustrations play a very
important role in this book because it catches the children's attention and helps bring the book to
life. In The Rainbow Fish, a fish, named Rainbow Fish, has the most beautiful sliver scales that
sparkle and shine (Pfister 4). However, Rainbow Fish is proud and selfish, and does not want to
share his beautiful scales with the other fish (Pfister 8–11). So the other fish ignore Rainbow Fish
and leave him all by his lonesome self (Pfister 11). Later on, Rainbow Fish gets some advice from
the all–knowing octopus (Pfister 14). The octopus tells Rainbow Fish that he will be happy if he
shares all of his scales (Pfister 14–16). So Rainbow Fish takes his advice and shares all of his scales
with all the other fish (Pfister 24). At the end, Rainbow Fish learns how to make friends by sharing
his most prized scales (Pfister 27). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Pfister also puts sliver sticker scales on Rainbow Fish to show his most beautiful sliver

believe that Marcus Pfister did a wonderful job depicting Rainbow Fish as the most beautiful fish in
the ocean in this illustration. That is why I believe that the artwork is the most important element of

Hummingbirds Research Paper
Information About Hummingbirds. Yes, it is the annual battle of the hummingbirds here in north

each hummingbird claiming a feeder of its own for few days before moving on down south. This
time of year, my yard becomes a war zone between hummingbirds as well as against yellow jackets
and bees!
Hummingbirds are very territorial and will jealously guard "their" feeder from all other hummers
who want a sip of the sweet nectar. Although my many feeders are spread quite a bit apart so more
hummingbirds can feed in peace, there appears to be a Ruby–throated female that is determined to
defend three feeders. As she squeaks and zips over to a feeder that another hummingbird dared to
approach, other hummingbirds converge on the feeder she just left, sneaking some nectar while she
is away. She will viciously fly straight for the intruder, sometimes even flying right into them,
chasing him away. She'll perch on top of pole from which the feeder hangs, looking around as if to
say, "See? I got him and I'll get you if you try anything stupid like trying to get some of my nectar."

Bushy Park Informative Speech

  • 1. Bushy Park Informative Speech It is July and we just finished celebrating Independence Day. We are six months into 2015, so are how are we doing here at Bushy Park? First and foremost, we have not had a recordable incident or a lost time incident. Congratulations, but do not get complacent. Accidents that happen in the blink of an eye can impact you and your family for the rest of your life. It is summer and there are plenty of distractions: vacations, outdoor activities and just trying to survive the summer heat. Pay attention to your tasks and be aware of your surroundings. Half–way through the year our volumes remain flat since 2014. Our domestic volume (US customers) is down due to lost business at International Paper. However, our export volume (mainly to Germany) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Once upon a time, there was a prosperous kingdom name... Once upon a time, there was a prosperous kingdom name Hegel. It was ruled by a wise king named King Hernandez. The king and queen of Hegel had seven good– looking princesses name Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet. Each of their names has represented their characteristic. Among of them, the youngest daughter, princess Violet is the most beautiful. She has an ideal body shape, softly spoken, the flawless skin as silk, the red moist lip and the beautiful long hair. She required every man wishes, everyone enchanted by her beauty. One day, the seven princesses were playing in the brook. The calm water is flowing across and the birds were singing around. Meanwhile, Prince Mitch from the Aldon kingdom, and his guardsmen were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Feeling embarrassed and anger to hear it, the Prince was up in arms. The prince went back to his castle. Steered by his anger, he started to make a plan for revenge. The Prince ordered his Commander and soldiers to attack Hegel kingdom. All soldiers were armed to the teeth. Then, the fierce war between them was unavoidable to happen. King Hernandez was so worried with the war. He was really concerned with her seven daughters. He asked soldiers to bring her daughters in a safe place in the rainbow jungle. The soldiers built a hut for the seven princesses. The king also asked the soldiers to provide food for 3 months. After the soldiers were sure that the seven daughter were safe, they went back to join the war. The sky was bruised with a swell of dark clouds on the western horizon. Time passed, the battle was still broke out. The King was cornered and his warriors decreased in number. Hegel Kingdom was completely destroyed. Many died during the war. Seeing the ruins of his people, He tried to find a way to stop this war. One day, King Hernandez heard that prince Mitch and his warriors having party near the river. Music rises along with the sweet sound of the singers, people ate and laugh, the atmosphere is heat up in there. King Hernandez and his solders hide in the bushes. • 5. Descriptive Essay The fresh grass tickled his sticky body as he crushed the living daylights out of them. Beneath the sun's gaze, he laid still while absorbing the beauty of the outside world. It was perfect. "Run," an elderly man shouted at his students, interrupting his photosynthesis moment. "Off the ground, Junho." Junho's eyes unlocked, his vision flooded with the cotton clouds and baby blue sky. The lively looking grass unfolded as Junho hustled to his rowdy coach. The day was too perfect. Preparing himself to run off with much confidence, rain broke out, abruptly stopping him as he made his first step to sprint. Junho took his eyes off the finish line and fixed his stare upon the upsetting clouds. Keeping his stare upon the gray clouds, he tilted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within a few minutes, Junho reached into his stiff pocket and piled a blue and white deck of cards on top of his books along with his white bulky headphones. His headphones shielded rounded ears from the rambling students. "As time goes by, I only let out sighs. Always blaming the heavens Pounding the floor in regret. Isn't that why I couldn't fly or walk?" Consciously stacking card after card, Junho had formed a house of cards. It was perfect. Finishing his masterpiece, he looked back to the rain, building more sighs and the tear–shaped rain fell constantly. Song after song, his view was filled with the house of cards. Three layers of cards, stacked upon one another. Without the bottom, the tower is unstable. Without the bottom, the whole house falls and is no longer one. Without the bottom, the house is nothing. At that very moment, the bell rang and interrupted his gaze. His eyes shifted as the bell rang throughout the school startling him. But he wasn't the only one startled, the cards collapsed. Junho stared at the fallen cards as the faint beeping rang once more. The bus stop was in full view from where Junho stood. He had to run. The bus wasn't too far away from it's designated destination. With such little thought, he prepared himself once more to run. As soon as he met contact with the concrete floor a drop of water targetted him. Rain. Drip drop. One fell right after another like a cycle. The perfect day had been ruined again by the drizzling rain. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Analysis Of Lee 's ' The Great Gatsby ' By F. Scott... At the age of 1 to 16, there is one odd girl who had turned my world upside down. Daphne Lee was born on February 5th, 1997. She lived in Colorado with her parents and little brother. From the outside, she seems completely ordinary, but not so much on the inside. She does not have any problems mentally or physically, though I am surprised she does not. She has changed my perspective on everything. Her obligation to rainbow bunnies can be a bit bizarre, but her persona is wonderful and bright if you are ever in need of some sunshine. Her actions can be embarrassing and troublesome, but that is what makes her different from the rest of the world. When we were little, she would always want to eat skittles, play bunny games, "explore" as she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even during the summer, she will wear them with her sandals. Nothing looks wrong with her feet, she just really loves socks. They are not the ordinary kinds of socks, though. Sadly they are the kiddy kind. She has two drawers filled entirely with them. From my perspective, it seems like she has enough to last her for two years. Periodically she chooses to speak a different language. One day she speaks English, the next day Spanish, etc. and gibberish eventually. Her taste in music is very interesting because she seemed like the kind of person who liked happy songs, but she actually likes very dark music such as metal and screamo. My cousin is very different from our other relatives I have met, yet that is what I like about her. In public, she gets really crazy. Not just a little crazy but hyper crazy. She is constantly up and about. She is not afraid to blare her music for the whole world to hear. People are usually looking over their shoulders, their attention to the creepy dancing ballerina bunny. I try to keep my distance. When there is candy involved, there is more crazy to come. She gets as mad as a hatter; Singing, skipping, hopping, and running around in circles. When nonsense talking becomes involved, I usually speed walk to the car while she runs to catch up to me with her bunny ears flopping up and down. The positive side of this crazy girl is that people get to have a good laugh. Her feelings will not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Personal Narrative: Everything Is Normal In Prison Everything is normal in the prison, or at least as normal as a prison can be, until I look in the mirror. Every time I look in the mirror, without fail, I see myself as a school boy. Everyday, I go to my job, making license plates in the shop. Other than lunch in the old brick lunchroom and my few bathroom breaks, I stay there until bedtime. At bedtime I retreat through long corridors, past endless cells, and finally arrive at my room. Though sparse and uninviting, I always feel intense relief when I return. I lie in my bed and am asleep within minutes of my head hitting the pillow. In the morning, the buzzer sounds, the light blazes on, and I get up to repeat the cycle. After countless months of this cycle, I notice something askew. It's hard ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Everyone around me seems to have been knocked down a level in their mental faculties. Conversations take a second longer, the guards are less attentive. I put it aside because I think that it is just my imagination, and I go about my routine. Wake up, work, sleep, wake up, work, sleep, wake up... and on and on endlessly. Things start to get back to normal, until the dream. I can't really remember the dream, but it was jarring. Now and then, snippets come back to me and I begin to relive the hellish night. It is on these nights that I sit down and drink a full bottle of whiskey before going to bed. On that night, I woke up from the dream in a cold sweat. I got up and went to wash my face. As I opened my eyes, I saw the same young, innocent face that always stared back at me. I hit the mirror, meaning to smash it, but my fist went straight through. Incredulously, I stared at my hand and, seeing it unchanged, thrust it back into the void. I pulled it back the second time, and then thrust my head in. Expecting to see some incredible space void, I was disappointed to find only a bathroom. I jumped through the mirror, and found that the bathroom was identical to my room in boarding ... • 11. Radiohead Research Paper Exactly six months to the day before Donald Trump was elected president of the United States, Radiohead released their eerily prescient and hypnotic ninth album, A Moon Shaped Pool, to great fanfare. Nothing could have foretold the future more than the lyrics to the opening song, "Burn the Witch": "Abandon all reason / avoid all eye contact / this is a low–flying panic attack." Backed by a repetitive and sawing string arrangement and an equally disturbing music video, it's one of the most overtly political songs Radiohead has ever done, as well as one of their all–time best. The following track, "Daydreaming" is nearly as good, with vocal loops and mournful piano reminiscent of Radiohead's very best work from 2000's Kid A. The final minute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each song transitions smoothly into the next one, with a prime example being the smooth transition from the "Decks Dark," a guitar–driven, hooky number reminiscent of the band's OK Computer era down to its extraterrestrial subject matter, to "Desert Island Disc," a low–key, Nick Drake–esque acoustic ballad. The songs all deal with the same underlying themes of heartbreak and, especially, a deep–rooted paranoia, a common subject matter in Radiohead songs. Although Radiohead were once pegged as the "preeminent doomsayers" (Greene) of a generation, their characteristic paranoia is more understandable now than ever ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

PARADISE FLUBBED: Pynchon & the New World Essay PARADISE FLUBBED: Pynchon & the New World When, in Gravity's Rainbow, "A screaming comes across the sky," it is the sound of a V–2 rocket arcing up and over the English Channel. But the rocket's vapor trail (which Pirate Prentice sees from kneedeep in the primordial mulch of his bananararium) points further on: over the Atlantic, on toward America, the New World, Tyrone Slothrop's "yearned–for, perhaps illusory home." Rather than rockets, Vineland opens with carrier pigeons (coming from the east, from Europe?), and blue jays (screaming, nest–stealing birds)––and messages: gone too late to be read, perhaps ever to be understood. "Too late, too late" runs like the background hum of an amplifier throughout the opening of this novel. For instance, Desmond, the familly dog, rises later than usual to chase blue jays away from his food; and his master, Zoyd Wheeler––part–time carpenter and unreclaimed hippie––is late for his appointment with a plate glass window, through which he must jump each year to keep his government disability checks coming.Zoyd is a resident of Vineland, a refuge tucked in the northern California woodlands, where once the only industry was logging, the only inhabitants were early 20th Century remnants of American frontiersmen, and the only cause for concern was running out of timber."Vineland the Good" Zoyd calls it. The "hip" beat, electric sounds, and encouraging lyrics lifts spirits, and can inspire anyone that is discouraged from life. Her music is mainly comprised of uplifting songs that are relatable for most, and aids in restoring confidence. This song communicates with the listener that we should be confident in ourselves as a person (as we ALL have something unique and special about us), and to stay "balanced" despite the negativity coming from others and our environment. In this particular part of the song she sings "When you get elevated/ They love it or they hate it/ You dance on them haters/ Keep getting funky on the scene". In other words, there's ... • 28. The Theory On Rainbow Formation And The Mechanics Of Them... Rainbows and the mechanics of them have been studied since ancient times. Greek philosophers had some understanding of the role of refraction, scientists in the 13th century produced theories on rainbow formation, and in the 17th century, Rene Descartes sketched out the conditions required to observe a rainbow (Douma). There are two key aspects that affect a rainbow, and these include the altitude of the sun and the size of the raindrops. The colors of the rainbow are because of two basic facts: Sunlight is made up of the whole range of colors that the eye can detect. The range of sunlight colors, when combined, looks white to the eye. This property of sunlight was first demonstrated by Sir Isaac Newton in 1666. Light of different colors is refracted by different amounts when it passes from one medium (air, for example) into another (water or glass, for example) (University Corporation for Atmospheric Research). Determining whether or not the wavelengths will go through the raindrops or reflect depends on the angle that the light falls on the backside of the raindrop. Each rain droplet has a function in the formation of the rainbow. Sunlight enters the rain droplet at a specific angle and the rain droplet separates the white light into many different colors. This angle is a fixed measurement between your eye and the sun. What color that is refracted is dependent on the critical angle, the angle the sunlight strikes the back of the rain droplet (Mahlen). • 34. Write An Essay On Water Erosion Water Erosion Background Erosion is the wearing away of sand soil or rock by water, or wind. Water erosion is the separation and removal of soil. Water erosion occurs by rain carrying away bits of soil and slowly washing away rock fragments (Society). Rushing streams and rivers wear away their banks, creating larger and larger valleys. Water erosion can occur on streams, river banks, sea shores and seaside cliffs. There are also different types of water erosion like sheet erosion. Sheet erosion is when water washes away soil from the surface. Another type of water erosion is splash erosion. Splash erosion is the movement of soil by a water droplet. Water erosion occurs more frequently in the spring because it rains more, the rain then washes away rock fragments. An example of water erosion is the colorado river. It cut deep into the land and formed the grand canyon. Purpose The purpose of this experiment is to examine the impact of water erosion on soil due to splash erosion. Hypothesis If the height of the water increases then the amount of soil erosion will increase because the speed of the water will create more pressure on the soil causing the soil to move further. Procedure Get a 600mL beaker and measure out 500mL of soil Grab a tray and place the soil on the tray. Flip the beaker upside down on the tray and remove the beaker so that there is a pile of dirt on the tray. Measure the height of the dirt. It should be 2 inches tall. Social Security Cost Analysis Giselle: 2009#1 Looking at the numbers, the very tangible loss of money––money funneled seemingly endlessly into space, into technologies that we abandon, into missions that may fail, into promises of progress ten, twenty, fifty years from now––it can be difficult to justify that immediate loss with the seemingly insufficient immediate gain, the gain of nothing but knowledge––so very intangible that it is. Perhaps this is frustration is born from the fact that we have never done anything like this before––we have never before been able to leave home for something so infinitely vast. We have never before been faced with the reality that we are so impossibly small. The world has grown so large in such a very short time, and the average person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the United States, Social Security comes first, taking about 21% of the federal budget in 2006, with national defense coming second at 19%. Then, comes income security, Medicare, health, and the interest incurred by the national debt before "all others" comes. "All others" (taking 6% of the federal budget) refers to a multitude of things, including space and technology, but also including international affairs, administration of justice, natural resources and environment, agriculture, and energy, among others (Chamberlain). It is clear that when compared to major federal expenditures, money funneled to space exploration is so fractional as to not be concisely accounted for. The question regarding money, however, is not how much, necessarily, is being spent, but if it itself is necessary. The question of necessity is, itself, difficult to answer no matter the evidence provided. When the Social Security Act was first introduced as part of Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal, some thought it was unnecessary. Some argue, today, that the US overspends on its defense sector and has since it entered WWII. Space is different, though, because it is so very new to us. It is almost completely unexplored, and surely has a vast wealth of resources useful to those on Earth, but it is neutral, and no one nation can claim any of those resources. Ultimately, space is a playground for science, and it can be difficult for the average American (who is not employed in a space technology industry) to justify funding a venture that seems to be without ... • 42. The Tunnel By William Gass Some people believe that lies will always be bitter in the end, no matter how sweet you make them in the beginning. In William Gass' The Tunnel, he expounds the validity of this belief by taking the reader on an emotionally evolving journey, as he recounts the self–realization of a young boy, who's frightening lie unravels in front of not only his own eyes, but also the readers. Gass successfully enriches this story with striking imagery, symbolism, and comparisons; exposing how no matter how sweet you make a lie in the beginning, it will always turn bitter in the end. The first paragraph plays an imperative role in the excerpt, for it introduces the reader to the emotional despondency of the boy. William Gass successfully strikes the reader from the beginning, for his two word opening, "lime slush" (line 1), prompts the reader to not only envisage a lime slush, but also taste its sugary sweetness. However, the sweetness this imagery provides is short lasting, for they are soon bombarded with countless caesuras, as he describes how "slush is supposed to be water. That's what slush is. It certainly isn't sherbet! It wasn't a nice green. And there didn't seem to be that much of it." (lines 2–3). The disappointment that entrenches the boy in these short but concrete statements, successfully introduces the reader to his emotional bitterness, for not even the lime slush's sweetness can sweeten it. The colour imagery does not stop there, for he describes how "strawberry always ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Analysis Of The Fish By Elizabeth Bishop When Elizabeth Bishop writes of her experience catching a fish, she describes its intricate details, essentially producing an ugly appearance of the fish. However, as her description continues, she ponders the beauty of the fish on the inside. This correlates with how people tend to make a quick judgment based on someone's appearance without taking the time to think about what their personality or characteristics include. Or even to think about what that person has been through that has caused them to look that way. Evidently, as the poem continues, Bishop reveals that the fish has been through at least five battles, according to the physical scars left in its jaw. The fish, a symbol for anyone who has dealt with difficulties during their life, will persevere even while the outside world continues its routine. The world will never stop for one person or, in this case, an animal from the poem, "The Fish." All other people follow through with their daily tasks and the sun still shines in the morning. Comparably, in "The Fish," the crickets went on with their chatter and the soft rain incessantly fell on the leaves and in the lake. Although neither of these setting features were straightforwardly mentioned in the poem, assonance and consonance hinted at the presence of both features. Specifically, the "ee" sound that resembles a cricket's call is found in one of the author's descriptions of the fish, "...underneath two or three / rags of green weed hung down. / While his gills ... • 50. The Wedding Of Ursula Essay When telling the story of Ursula's childhood, Lawrence tells us early on that, "Ursula was the one for realities." (259). From this point it is apparent that her story is going to be different. While she relies on the hard realities of life and is very caught up in the things outside of her, her mind–body conscious self is just as active as Tom or Anna's. In fact, it may be even stronger for her because she seems to be more aware of it: "She became aware of herself, that she was a separate entity in the midst of an unseparated obscurity, that she must go somewhere, she must become something." (Lawrence 281). She has her first experience with love at an early age, when she encounters Anton Skrebensky. At one point during their courtship, Anton comes to the wedding of Ursula's uncle, Fred, and Ursula has a very distinct experience similar to the one her mother Anna had in the cornfield. Rainbow Formation Research Paper Everyone enjoys the site of a rainbow expected after it rains on a sunny day; however, although a rainbow formation is basic optics and geometry, it is highly misunderstood. Many understand the appearance due to dispersion of light, but most do not realize what that entitles. What most people do not expect when looking at a rainbow is that it moves as the observer moves (Cartwright, 1992). Shown in the photo to the left, is a rainbow taken along the countryside in Missoula, Montana. To further discuss how a rainbow works, one must understand the reflection–refraction theories that cause such a formation. Rays of light come from a fixed direction as bundles, which always are red–proving a greater concentration of light from that fixed direction. This ray is called a caustic ray (Bim 1999). As the height y of an incident ray increases from 0, the deflection of the outgoing ray decreases towards the caustic ray, causing the y to pass the caustic ray, and the deflection increases again (Gordon de Pree, Ph.D, 20) In specific conditions, the observer can see a secondary rainbow behind the primary rainbow–weaker and inverse in spectra, with red on the inside and violet on the outside. According to Cartwright's article on Rainbows, the space between red and violet, regardless of direction, is called the Alexander's Dark band, which is noticeably darker than its surroundings. The review will critically reflect my experience from this practicum, using readings and learnings my strengthens and weaknesses will be revealed. Something that I observed at the beginning of my practicum were the issues concerning behavioural guidance. There was a group of four boys who required the greatest assistance, my experience in managing people and being a parent quickly reminded me in how to best support them. Knowing each child and what their abilities and interests are enable educators to respond sensitively and appropriately to each child (Cohrssen, Church, & Tayler, 2011). I spoke with my mentor and other educators and discovered the backgrounds of these boys and reasonings for their behaviours. I learnt by observing the other educators how these behavioural guidance issues were managed and the many techniques they used. Something I realised with the learning experiences I conducted was the need to not speak too quickly and be clear and concise with my instructions. The person catching the fish, presumed as the narrator, describes the fish's intricate details which essentially gives it an ugly appearance. • 65. Keeping his stare upon the gray clouds, he tilted his head. "It was supposed to be a perfect day," he breathed. Junho flinched as a raindrop struck back by intruding his eye. His quick reflexes resulted in him shifting his head towards a puddle in front of him. The puddle reflected the upper half of himself; damp, jet black hair, dark brown eyes, smooth pale skin, the bottom half of his body was irrelevant. The small body of water ruined it's perfect surface as droplets of rain poured down. Leaving the watered–downed field, Junho heard a faint constant beeping as he rushed inside the academic building. Changing out of his wet clothes, Junho re–entered his classroom wearing his gray school uniform. Taking a seat at his wrinkled wooden desk, he stared at the window with his head cradled in ... • 69. Physics of Rainbows Essay When the Sun's light is refracted on passing through tiny rain droplets falling in the air a Rainbow is formed. Rainbows only need light from the sun or the moon and a large amount of spherical raindrops to form in the atmosphere. The rainbows can be compared to mini prisms. The light is refracted ("bending of light as it passes from one medium to another") and it causes different wavelengths (or colors) of the white light to separate. Whether these wavelengths of light will pass through the raindrop or reflect depends on the angle the light strikes the back of the raindrop. If a wavelength of the light strikes the back of the raindrop at an angle less than 48 degree relative to the normal then the light will pass through the raindrop. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact a rainbow is made up of the entire spectrum of colors from red to violet and beyond to the ultraviolet and infrared sections of the spectrum, which the eye is not capable of detecting. The speed of the wavelength of white light before it hits the raindrop determines the color a raindrop will emit. If the wavelength of white light travels at a slow speed, then the wavelength of light will bend more when it enters the raindrop. Wavelength of the color violet is bent the most when it enters the raindrop. While red light is bent the least when it enters the raindrop. The violet light will emerge from the raindrop at an angle of 40 degrees relative to the observer's line of sight. While red light will emerge at an angle of 42 degrees. Thus, violet light has the shortest wavelength. Red, being at the opposite edge, has the longest wavelength. Moving from the violet edge through the colors to red at the opposite edge the wavelength gets longer. Other colors of the spectrum can be seen in between 40 and 42 degrees relative to the observer's line of sight. It is important to note that only one color of light is emitted from each raindrop. A large amount of raindrops produce a wide spectrum of colors of a rainbow. There are certain colors which cannot be seen by the eye. This is why the observer sees four to five solid colors of a rainbow. The color bands of a rainbow always have the same order since the shorter wavelengths of light are refracted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 71. Reflection On Light And How Light Bendss In The Whitehouse This following science lab reflection is about light and how it bends while it travels from one thing to another. Our main goal for this lab was to discover how light bends. But the problem is that we have to break–in and get past laser security in the Whitehouse. I hypothesised that, if we can bend the light around us then we will be able to get past the laser security. If we shine water at the light then the light will bend better and we will be able to get past the laser security and into the Whitehouse. In this lab we used the mediums: air, water, and glass. We also used prisms, such as a circle, square, and triangle. These materials all helped us figure out, which was the best to bend the light with. What we did to find these results was through a computer simulation to test the way the light bends with others objects and prisms. This is a short summary about what we did and used for this Science Lab. When conducting this Lab we found many interesting findings. A few findings were that when the light from the air hit the water the angle of refraction decreased to 22o compared to the angle of incident/reflection of 30o. The opposite occurred when the light from the water hit the air. The angle of refraction increased drastically to 42o when still compared at 30o angle of incident/reflection. With the light from air to the glass, the angle of refraction decreased a lot to 19o with the 30o angle of reflection/incident. Things I can say after these results are that the ... • 73. The Rainbow Fish By Marcus Pfiter In my final picture book read aloud, I am going to read The Rainbow Fish, by Marcus Pfister. The main element of craft that I am going to highlight are the illustrations. The illustrations play a very important role in this book because it catches the children's attention and helps bring the book to life. In The Rainbow Fish, a fish, named Rainbow Fish, has the most beautiful sliver scales that sparkle and shine (Pfister 4). However, Rainbow Fish is proud and selfish, and does not want to share his beautiful scales with the other fish (Pfister 8–11). So the other fish ignore Rainbow Fish and leave him all by his lonesome self (Pfister 11). Later on, Rainbow Fish gets some advice from the all–knowing octopus (Pfister 14). The octopus tells Rainbow Fish that he will be happy if he shares all of his scales (Pfister 14–16). So Rainbow Fish takes his advice and shares all of his scales with all the other fish (Pfister 24). At the end, Rainbow Fish learns how to make friends by sharing his most prized scales (Pfister 27). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 77. Hummingbirds Research Paper Information About Hummingbirds. Yes, it is the annual battle of the hummingbirds here in north Texas. Late August through September brings swarms of migrating hummingbirds to the feeders, each hummingbird claiming a feeder of its own for few days before moving on down south. This time of year, my yard becomes a war zone between hummingbirds as well as against yellow jackets and bees! Hummingbirds are very territorial and will jealously guard "their" feeder from all other hummers who want a sip of the sweet nectar. Although my many feeders are spread quite a bit apart so more hummingbirds can feed in peace, there appears to be a Ruby–throated female that is determined to defend three feeders. As she squeaks and zips over to a feeder that another hummingbird dared to approach, other hummingbirds converge on the feeder she just left, sneaking some nectar while she is away. She will viciously fly straight for the intruder, sometimes even flying right into them, chasing him away. She'll perch on top of pole from which the feeder hangs, looking around as if to say, "See? I got him and I'll get you if you try anything stupid like trying to get some of my nectar." From dawn to dusk, she'll bully the other hummers. Clearly, this lil' lady is a hummer with an attitude! ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He liked the feel of the pencil crumbling against his paper, he loved the feel of moving his hand to shape something, and he loved creating something just for himself. So they weren 't the best drawings in the world, but that didn 't matter to Cas. He nodded his head a little in time with the music that was pouring out from his headphones, gazing over the sight he was sketching. There was a water fountain in his town that overlooked one of the busiest streets in his town. Every minute or so the sidewalk separating the road from the fountain would erupt in spontaneous explosions of water. His father had banished him from ever talking about being gay again. After months of explaining, his father had finally acknowledged that Cas was telling the truth. Cas had joined in a row of people who all had rainbows drawn on their face and a few small banners between them.
