As the sun descends from the snowy mountains in Russia. village folks began to return to their
homes to begin their nightly tasks. Children skipped happily back to their homes as their parents

entertainment for miners and soldiers. Before coming to Mama Nadi's, Sophie, Josephine, Salima all
experienced rape. The word rape is so common in our society that it has lost its intensity and
heinousness to a person who has not experienced it. Rape is a general term to describe what the
women experienced but it does not give any hint to the struggle that comes after the event. For
example, what it does to a person's mind, the lasting scars on someone's body, and how it can
change a person's personality. Many critics assume that rape is the tragedy in the play, but Nottage's
use of the word "ruined" emphasizes that the real tragedy is the consequences of those soldier's
actions on these women 's lives and how it affected their interactions with society. Some might be
outraged at the notion that rape is not to be considered a tragedy. It is, of course, a horrific act. One
that inflicts so much damage that it can cause PTSD type triggers in survivors. Rape is a before/after

This week's research was an in–depth view of the movie "The Doctor", (Ziskin and Haines, 1991).
This movie depicted a highly skilled surgeon named Jack McKee, played by actor William Hurt who
was completely devoted to his practice, (Ziskin and Haines, 1991). His world revolved around his
profession, which negatively affected his family and life experiences beyond work. The movie
captured the importance of relationships and how tragic events can change a person's perspective on
life. Jack McKee followed a transactional style of leading only concerned with himself and his
practice, (Ziskin and Haines, 1991). After being stricken by illness; he experienced the other side of
health care as a patient. He discovered the challenges of being a patient and soon realized that his

I just lay there in shock, I didn't know what just happened. Everything flashed before my eyes. All I
remember is standing at the top of the stairs, and then I started to get wobbly. I lost my balance, and

A Short Story : A Story?
One stormy night in 1842, a man was walking in the woods when he came upon a large cave like
opening. Seeking shelter from the rain and wind, he entered the cave and began to slowly venture
deeper inside. He noticed a light, coming from just around the cave wall and decided to figure out
was it was. When he walked around the corner he saw a magnificent sight. There, infront of him,
laid a beautiful golden crown complete with gems of all colors. He slowly walked over to it and
took in it's glory. He eventually picked it up, and placed it on top of his head. He took it off to
examine it more closely and notice an engraving on the inside, "Thou who wears thee shall be
cursed to live in agonizing pain until all they know is gone." He began to feel uneasy and quickly
put the crown back, but he was soon to learn that he was too late.
He remained in the cave until the storm passed and he was able to wander back to his home in the
village. He had awoken the next day to find himself in great pain and to find that there was blood
slowly seeping from his pores. "W–What is this!", he exclaimed to himself as he jumped up and
rushed towards the mirror. In the mirror, he didn't even recognize himself.. He seemed to be
decaying–He could see his bony structure. "How had this happened?", he thought, then he
remembered about the crown. "There must be a way to fix this, " he mumbled as he tried to clean
himself up so he could go visit a doctor and see if they could help him. He realized it

A Report On The House
¬¬¬"They were new patients to me, all I had was the name, Olson. Please come down as soon as
you can, my daughter is very sick." This statement shows that the patients he is going to see new
patients and all he knows is that his name is Olson and their daughter is sick. This is explicit
information.
"When I arrived, I was met by the mother, a big startled looking women, very clean and apologetic
who merely said, is this the doctor? And let me in."
This statement shows that the mother is very surprised, maybe because she was expecting someone
who looked like a doctor. This is implicit information

The statement says that the house is damp which implies that the house is very humid which could
of caused the daughter to be sick or it could also imply that the house is in disrepair as damp is also
caused by leaking pipes
"The child was fully dressed and sitting on her father's lap near the kitchen table. He tried to get up,
but I motioned for him not to bother, took off my overcoat and started to look things over."
This implies that the father is polite as he offers the Doctor to sit down.

Kristien's Traditon: A Narrative Fiction
Kristien was struggling to sleep. It was night, she knew, because Israel had told her good night. Her
wrist hurt really badly, but what could she do, she was a prisoner. It wouldn't hurt as much if the cuff
wasn't pressing on it, but the cuff was, and she couldn't move the cuff, it was secure. She knew what
had happened. Chandrogana had accidentally hurt her wrist, but she didn't know if it was just
twisted, sprained or broken. By the time the doctor came to see her, her eyes were watering, it hurt
so badly. The doctor came in, and didn't say a word to Kristien. Just went to the panel in the wall.
He scanned his handprint, and then typed in instructions. The one cuff on her hurting wrist, the left
one, uncuffed, and Kristien felt a little bit of relief. But it was still very, very painful. "Kristien, I'm
going to feel your wrist to see if it is broken. Do not be alarmed," the doctor said. He picked up her

hurts," Kristien said. "It's clearly broken. It probably was a bad sprain, but with the pressure of the

Theme Of Greed And Power In John Steinbeck's The Pearl
Characters contribute to creating a theme in stories we read with physical, verbal, and mental
actions. The Pearl written by John Steinbeck is about a poor family living their usual life in their
village when their son gets sick and they cannot purchase medical care. They usually go pearl diving
and find nothing but are blessed with a huge pearl. The pearl can create great riches but also creates
great suffering with in the village. In the book The Pearl by John Steinbeck the characters, The
Doctor and Kino helped develop the theme or greed and power can make one's downfall.
Kino in The Pearl creates the theme of greed and power can make one's downfall. In the book Juana
(Kino's wife) hears evil music with the pearl and fears it will tear apart the family and the village. So
she sneaks out in the early morning with it and tries to get rid of it to free her family from evil but
gets caught in the action by her husband who goes savage. "Her arm was up to throw when he
leaped at her and caught her arm and wrenched the pearl from her. He struck her in the face with his
clenched fist and she fell among the boulders, and he kicked her in the side...Kino looked down at

My Moment In The Moment Essay
It was august 4 3:47pm just 5 minutes before my arm would crack. My neighbor and I were upstairs
in my room when she said "I'm bored let's go outside. After 2 minutes we left my room and went
into the hall. I slipped my shoes on half way and thought, once i'm in the living room I will put them
on completely. The railing of the stairs measured, right by my waist, so I locked my arms. I had just
started to go to the third step when my right leg slipped and I fell,landing seated. My sight turned
dark as if I had been staring at the sun and white snow. For some reason I thought I had made the
railing fall of the wall. I thought this because heard and felt something fall on me. I started searching

Riku managed to survive but he still had a long way to the temple.
Slowly, Riku sneaked past a few of the same creatures in the dusk of the night towards the temple .
Riku also made sure he stole some of their clubs to use as a weapon later. When he got to the
temple, he walked towards the statue. He stared at the writing on the stone tablet near the statue and
suddenly his head started to hurt and he started to remember a time he came here. The temple back

After that, Riku came back to his senses, and the statue began to flash. Riku walk towards the statue.
The light from the statue then blinded Riku and the area around the temple. When the blinding light
disappear, in Riku's hand was a device. Then, the old man from before appeared at the entrance of
