Sexuality is an integral part of human identity and development from birth to death, influenced by many cultural and social factors. Sexuality has both physical and non-physical components encompassing spirituality, emotions, relationships and identity. Young people in care often have less access to sexuality education and information, and higher rates of risky sexual behaviors and outcomes like early pregnancy due to past trauma and lack of guidance. One young person expressed a desire for open communication with carers about sexuality topics like consent and contraception.
