Crossfit By Rich Fron Essay
Not knowing what is going to happen is a scary thought. That could go with anything school, your job, or your life in general. The Reebok CrossFit
games are all about the unexpected, the unknowable, and with that you have to train for anything and everything. Rich Froning is a four–time
consecutive Reebok CrossFit champion, but during the writing of this book he's only talking about his first two, which was in 2011 and 2012. I
got enjoyment out of reading this autobiography of Rich Froning's experience at the Games; because it showed his development before CrossFit,
it showed me what mental capability, you have to be at to even make it to the games, and finally I related to it due to my love for the sport. Rich
Froning was a normal guy who graduated high school not knowing what he wanted to do with his life. Because of this he attended college for
baseball, which he barely stayed two months because he didn't enjoy it. He worked with his dad in a factory working on an assembly line. Rich
Froning was even a firefighter for a time, although he enjoyed being a firefighter the most he again felt God had... Show more content on

Even though I'm conscious of my future, I might register for the CrossFit games later on down the road. The Froning's have experienced
grievances along with praise as a family. Through all the downs though the family managed to keep their faith strong; however, with Rich Froning
his faith seemed to grow stronger. At the beginning he was always asking what could God do for him? Now it is more of what can he do to spread
the word about God. I've never been the type of person to speak to God or even read the Bible, but Froning has made me feel like it's more important
to him than his life. There is more to life than fitness, but for the most part it is the greatest lifestyle. Life is about taking that extra step and I think

Saint James Place Is A Place
Saint James Place is a place the welcomes all people who are struggling and are in need of food, clothes, and a job. Only the people who really need
help come to Saint James. A lot of struggling people rely on Saint James for food, clothes, and warmth. Every weekday night they have a dinner for
people to come in for the cold or from the heat and have a hot meal in front of them for a night. The banquet hall is full of people almost every night
and when it is not they can go back up for seconds. Saint James is more than just a place where food is cooked and given to the hungry. It is a place
where people can pick up groceries, get clothes and shoes, and help people with various things that can better their life. The people at Saint James ...

When the van is unloaded, the van is swept from anything that fell out of the boxes and the food that was rotten and already open and not any good is
thrown away in the garbage.
Once inside all the food that is used is taken to the pantry to be sorted and put in the right place. Some days the cook takes food and brings it in the
kitchen and puts it in the back freezer and is frozen in zero degree temperature and eventually it comes back and is used for a dinner that night. The
food in the pantry is eventually put into grocery bags and put into carts and given to the hungry. There are two grocery bags in each cart, a gallon
of milk, a package of frozen meat, and a 106 oz. can of black eyed peas. There are about ten grocery carts lined up each filled groceries. Once one
cart leaves and comes it is immediately filled with more groceries. During this time everybody is doing something. They are either making grocery
bags, filling up the empty carts, inserting food, bringing the carts to the people, and bringing skids of food in.People come in from nine to twelve to
get groceries and then they close until dinner.
At twelve most the volunteers leave and go home, while the people who work there prepare for the next day and dinner that night. This could include
making more bags of groceries, restocking the pantry shelves, and organizing the freezer, and

Personal Narrative: The Great Goals
The Great Goal It was during the fall when I realized that I was going to apply to Saint Edward High School. I had shadowed there and many of
my friends knew they were going too. I figured that this was the best choice for me and I was most comfortable there. I knew I wanted to be in
advanced classes, but then the Mccullah twins introduced me to the IB programme. Around six p.m., on the SJJ football field before practice, The
Mccullah twins asked me and a few other teammates, "Did you guys hear about that new IB program at St. Ed's?" We responded with, "No, what's
that?"
"It's this new advanced program that we're going to try out for; you have to be super smart to get in."
The Mccullah brothers were short, funny, and they looked identical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I did my interview yesterday."
"How did it go?"
"It went great! Just be yourself and bring a cool object that represents you."
"I will, thanks."
About a week later my parents received a letter from Saint Edward High School.
They yelled to me,"Mason, we have a letter from St. Ed's!"
"Cool, can I read it?"
"Sure! We think you'll like what's inside."
I read the letter carefully and it said that I had been accepted. There was only one more requirement, and that was the declaration of interest.
"I got accepted! What's this 400 word essay I have to write?"
"It's a declaration of interest letter. You'll be able to do it."
"That's great!"
A little while later I wrote my essay. The topic was international mindedness. To understand this better, I researched what international mindedness was
and I discovered that there was no true definition for it. I looked through my sources and I wrote that international mindedness is a state of mind, where
you can accept people of all races, ages, and religions.
Not too long after, Reme, Liam, and I all received our IB acceptance letters. We were both very happy. Then, Reme, Liam and I were all accepted to
Saint Edward High School. If I try my best to achieve any goal, I know I can do

Persuasive Essay About Hanging Lake
It was a warm summer afternoon in 2015 near Glenwood Springs, Colorado. My family decided we needed to get some exercise on our vacation.
So my parents thought it would be a fantastic idea to go on a hike. We ended up going to a popular trail called, the Hanging Lake Trail. At the top
of the mountain there are beautiful waterfalls and a large lake with extremely eye appealing scenery, hence the name "Hanging Lake". Cayden and
I were not excited for this activity at all. Both of us were complaining and saying the same exact thing, "It is vacation and we are doing physical
activity? No! We should be relaxing." My parents did not care what we were saying; however, They had their minds set on the fact that we were going
to go on a hike. Once... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I knew my brother was not the type for doing physical activity, but I wanted to see how we would do. "Okay, Cayden and I are going to start. If
you need anything, call us. We will see you at the top." Those were the last words that I told them before we were off. We started off at a jogging
pace because we wanted to familiarize ourselves with the terrain. Almost every step we took there was either large pointed rocks, thick embedded
roots, or large swallowing holes. We knew we had to be as careful as possible. There were warning signs all over the path to make sure people are
aware of the possible dangers, but that never made us think to stop. Every one fourth of a mile there was a sign that told you how close you were
to the top, so once we made it to the halfway point we decided to take a break. There was not much talking between both of us, our time was spent
drinking water and preparing for the final stretch of the trail. After I was rested, I asked my brother what time we were at. He checked his phone and
we were at 18 minutes. I thought to myself, It only took us 18 minutes to reach halfway up the mountain, and I think I did not push myself as hard as I
could go. I turned to Cayden with a gigantic grin and said,"Want to finish before 30 minutes?" Judging by his body language, I could tell that he was
exhausted. The higher elevation must be having an effect on his breathing. Out of nowhere, however, he put away his water and his

Christian Ethics Class At St. Joseph Home Care
As part of my Christian Ethics class, I volunteered in St. Joseph Home Care for three hours. It's an organization led by Ukrainian nuns and they have
been for years now. The Home Care is mainly filled with elders and primarily are Ukrainians or Canadians. During the time I volunteered, I learned
many things about myself and others. Also, I experienced new things that influenced me.
My best experience was when I met an old man named Peter. I remember Peter as a funny and cool person. Peter was probably the best part in
volunteering at St. Joseph because he was very fun to be with. He loves to sing very loudly and it's just amusing to watch. This one time, Peter
beckoned me to come to him and I still remember his warm smile. He took my hand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The overall atmosphere in St. Joseph was absolutely pleasant because I was around people that were absolutely welcoming, warm and kind people.
Not only that, I was treated nicely because my mom works there too and they knew me since I always visit my mom. So, they weren't strangers to me.
During my time in St. Joseph's, I was the only student at Ed Feehan, who volunteered there, but a student from Holy Cross also volunteered there too.
His name was Ben. Ben was extremely cool and funny and we got along very easily. Ben arrived earlier than me and I only got the chance to spend
thirty minutes with him.
The Imitation of Christ
The way I imitated Christ was when I showed people the true meaning of kindness and cheerfulness. What I did was a great example of what Jesus did
for his people. He helped and in return, he brought back the idea of contentment to the people. Not only I served the people, but most importantly, I
served Jesus. He expected us to follow his way meaning to help each and everyone, no matter who the person is.
According to Matthew 25:40, "And the King will say, 'I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were
doing it to me!' Matthew 25:40 And Hebrews 6:10, "God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have
helped his people and continue to help them." Basically, these two gospel are very similar to

Analysis Of The Movie ' The Lottery '
There are a lot of characters that play a huge role in the outcome of the story. Tessie Hutchinson, who was thrilled about the lottery, was the one who
gets the paper with a black dot. She always wanted to participate each year but this year she wasn't so happy about it. She complained because her
family's names were also included in the lottery drawing. Bill Hutchinson, Tessie's husband, was the one who drew the lottery, in the end. Even though
Tessie complained and protested about the lottery, he acknowledged it because it was apart of the town's tradition. Old Man Warner has partaken in 77
lotteries over the years. He is also known as the oldest person in the Town. He believes that the lottery cleans people's sin and allows them to be kind.
He feels as if there shouldn't be a change, and the lottery ceremony should remain as apart of town tradition. Mr. Summers, has no children, is the guy
who leads the lottery ceremony. His job is to make the papers and announce the drawn lottery recipient. Mr. Harry Graves, the postmaster, assists Mr.
Summers in preparing for the lottery. The children and other families of the town are secondary characters in the story. Their main role is to collect
rocks and cause ruckus during the lottery ceremony.
Setting: The story takes place in rural part of New England, during the summer time. The lottery was held on June 27th, around 10 a.m., between the
town's bank and post office. The author is very descriptive with the setting, the way

Corporate Social Responsibility : Marks & Spencer
Corporate social responsibility, also known as CSR, is one of the most important topics in the corporate world. If a company is not public about its CSR
mission or report, it could make consumers think that they do not care about them, their community or their environment. If a company does not
demonstrate that have a positive view on CSR, then they could end up losing profitability because consumers will not want to support them, which
could cause the company to close. These closings could be caused by multiple things, including competition from other companies that show they have
strong understanding of corporate social responsibility. Marks & Spencer, also known as M&S, was established in 1884 as a local store in the UK.
"As it grew, staying close to the community was important to its founders and by the 1930s the name Marks & Spencer was synonymous with trust,
quality, and significantly as an employer who looked after its employees, going beyond the minimum standards for wages, benefits and care"
(Richardson, 2015). For years, Marks & Spencer were known for taking care of their employees, customers, and community but as times changed in
the world, corporate America changed along with it. "There comes a time when other competitors copy and look for advantage, and this was the case
for M&S as other UK retailers assumed the leadership of the sector it once regarded as its own natural territory" (Richardson, 2015). It became
increasingly important for M&S to do

Beyond Start Up Mode : What Leaders At Established...
Beyond start–up mode: What leaders at established companies need to understand about discipline, process management, and enforcement as enablers
of innovation.
Innovation and agility are likely two of the most talked–about topics in business today. Unfortunately all of that focus has resulted in naГЇve extremist
interpretations that create a higher probability of failure, frustration, and confusion within larger, more established companies. These established
companies with meaningful revenue, reasonable margins, happy clients, and a pool of talented resources are well positioned and should be driving
innovation, but instead are being outflanked by the much smaller, resource–strained efforts of the mythical two people in a garage. Why does this
happen? What should the established company be doing? And even more importantly, what should they not be doing?
The Why – Good smart people have great ideas, but you can't do everything.
To quote one of the most notable executive coaches, Marshall Goldsmith, "What Got You Here, Won't Get You There". This applies to corporate
approaches to innovation as much as it does to great leaders. Realistically, leadership and the ability to innovate are highly correlated, but even the
brightest people can miss the foundational elements required to help their smart energetic peers and subordinates, at a successful firm, focus on what's
important. Most successful companies struggle to balance their attention between incrementalism, hygiene,

The Negative Impact Of Social Media
Most teenagers have cell phones that they use for large portions of the day. Yet we do not know what they could be doing on there. Social media
has a huge impact on someone's life when it comes to Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook and ect, however a lot of it is negative. The social media
platform is enormous and still expanding every second, almost every kid has some platform of social media. Kids as little as five have some social
media accounts! What the older generation grew up with and this generation now are way different. Social media has a negative influence on society
because it is a platform for bullying, can lead to poor grades and puts your safety at risk. To begin with, bullying has been going on for number of
years it has increased through social media. It is called cyberbullying, cyberbullying is a form of bullying or harassment thru the internet or online in
general. Kids make nasty and mean comments anonymously to hurt another. Easily you can make a fake profile and comment mean stuff. Ever heard
of the show "Gossip Girl"? The show is based around a account that someone made not knowing who and posted mean comments. Likewise, someone
could post an embarrassing photo of you, and make fun of you threw that photo on any platform. Kids tend to make fun of other kids to post their
popularity, other kids find it funny so they keep on doing it. Another reason is hacking, a user could break into your account and post thing off of your
account and people think it was

Example Of Observation Of Basketball
For my second observation I went back to my elementary school from when I was younger and observed a second grade physical education class
and their teacher Mrs. McFarland. It was a rainy day so the lesson was held in the cafeteria. I observed Mrs. McFarland teach the first lesson of
basketball to her class, before class she told me that this would be the first lesson of a 6 part lesson. When the students walked into the cafeteria they
immediately sat down in their assigned spots on the floor, Mrs. McFarland stood up at the front of the room by the stage area and all the students.
When all the students were seated Mrs. McFarland gave a very brief explanation on what the students would be doing that day and then they started
with a warm up. During the warm up the students started out galloping around the room to music and when the music stop she would shout of jumping
jacks and the students would do jumping jacks until the music came back on. They did this warm up for about 5 minutes and then went back to their
spots and sat down. Mrs. McFarland went back to the front of the cafeteria and began to talk to the students about what they would be doing. She gave
a demonstration of the triple threat position and then asked the students some questions about what they saw her just do. Next, she had the children
grab their our balls and come back to their spot so that they could practice some ball handling drills. They used their finger tips to ping pong the ball

Short Story
It was late on an unusually warm Saturday night when I had to go back to my little side job and help a lady take down decorations from a wedding
reception that was being held at St. Anne's Catholic church in town. It was around 11:30pm and I was dead beat tired and did not want to leave
the comfiness of my warm bed and the familiarity of my room. My best friend Gabby was also staying the night at my house that night and she
had decided to come with me to help the lady I was working for. So, we bagged up all the junk food we had bought earlier that day and put the liter of
pop in the fridge and made our way out to my car. We got in my car and bumped out to some jams on our way to the church, but the whole way there I

home and hang out with Gabby and go to sleep. When I had got done with the last trip to her car she thanked me for my help and she paid me the
money I had earned. Gabby and I got in my car and I just started ranted about how annoyed I was and all Gabby had said was that she could tell
because I had had an annoyed look all over my face the whole time. When I thought about it I realized she was right. I really just can't help it and I
never really realize that I'm doing it until someone tells me that I am. After this experience, I realized that I have a real problem with not showing my

Why I Love Making Music Essay
There's so many reasons why I love making music I would have you here all day! Making music is my hobby. I spend all my free time making
music. Any chance I get I'm in the studio. Making music is not easy to do with a busy life. I started making music because my dad died and he
inspired me. Also I entered myself in a contest. Also I enjoy makingmusic with my friends. To begin with, when my dad died my music was my
biggest outlet. Music is what keeps me calm and is my biggest motivation in life. When I am making music I feel like it's my way out, it's my
peace, and nobody can change that. Sometimes it feels good to just be able to do certain things and have talents that other people don't have, and
that's how I see music. My voice is great and I actually can rap so I have something everyone else do not have. Which is actual talent and I don't mean

A good song is not based on how many people like it, but on how many memories and feelings you get. that's the best thing about music. Music
expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent. Sometimes hearing the music is just the best way to ignore the world
Without music, life would be crazy. Sometimes, it's not the song that makes you emotional. You teach people how to treat you by what you allow,
what you stop, and what you reinforce. Everything in my life happens for a reason and I know a lot has had an impact on my life So music is
definitely the way for me. Even if I don't ever get famous I always will make music. I never really wanted to be famous in life, I just always wanted
to be rich making music. I still have that same mentality now and I can't wait to be able to support my family and friends by making music. I appreciate
my family and my friends and most importantly my dad for giving me the knowledge as a man to follow my dreams, what I believe in and stand by

Stand Up For The Power Of Learning
Stand up for the Power of Learning (Jay Mathews) questions
1.Matthew agreed computers are not his strength; therefore, he got help from one of the consultants. However, the concept of help brought up the topic
of how some Colleges do not allow students to get help or do a collaboration between students.
2.He gave those two emails as a contrasting example for his discussion. Some will agree in favor of those policies and some would not. Some will say
that it would help students to learn and improve their thinking; however, some will say that collaboration and help are essential tools for schooling
matters.
3.The quick responded from the college was not something that he expected. He believes that each faculty should bring with the rules and policies in
their field.
4.I will say that both ideas had helped me to improve my learning. There are times that I have preferred to struggle with an issue and get the answer
from my own as a challenge but not due to a rule or policy. I have always had the option to seek for help or do collaboration with my colleagues, which
had brought more ideas and ways to solve the issue.
5.I do not think the original rule for this program was fair; not always, you get the answer from your own. Help is an essential tool, getting help will
guide you to get to answer your own or by doing collaboration with others. Two minds are better than one. There are many ways to deal with cheating,

Analysis Of Toni Morrison 's ' The '
Traditionally, motherhood is thought to be one of the most amazing occurrences to happen to a woman. From my experiences, the idea and anticipation
of bearing and being eternally responsible for a child reigns excitement through the veins of many young women today. However, many young women
may not be ready for the vast responsibilities of motherhood and therefore, may participate in neglectful behavior. Toni Morrison's short story titled
"Recitatif", reflects on the evolving lives of two friends, Twyla and Roberta. Throughout the story, Morrison intentionally depicts the theme of
motherhood in a negative, non–traditional way to shed light on realistic problems within families and households. The two main characters, Twyla and
Roberta, were both abandoned by their mothers. They were eventually sent to a children's home, St. Bonny's, where they quickly bonded over their
resentment for their "sick" mothers. The two friends, along with others from St. Bonny's, often mocked and made fun of a crippled, mute, kitchen
worker named Maggie. In "Recitatif", Morrison uses Maggie as a parallel to the mother–daughter relationships between the two friends and their
mothers, specifically Twyla and her mother. As stated previously, Maggie was crippled, mute, and deaf and was constantly tormented and abused by
the children of the shelter. The disabilities of both being crippled and not being able to communicate with others were undoubtedly hard for the younger
children of St. Bonny's to

Homework As A Good Thing Essay
Roth, Grace
AP Lang Period 6
October 19, 2016
Abstract
Homework has been considered apart of every child's learning experience in America, but there are many downsides to homework. Homework prevents
children from exploring the world they live in, besides just what they learn in the classroom and prevents many other activities. Along with this,
homework can be very unhealthy is child's life due to the amount of stress it causes. There is also evidence that suggests homework has no affect on
learning and in many cases is counter productive. Homework causes many conflicts within families and is in many households left to the parents and
not the students. The evidence of homework being a good thing is outweighed by the evidence that shows how homework can be a negative thing in
many students lives.

Sacrifice And Success
Sacrifice Or Success?
Something that everyone wants to achieve is success. Success is not something that comes easy in life, one must be prepared to give sacrifices
such as time, in order for them to reach a professional level of success. In order to succeed, people must learn to make sacrifices in life. Sacrifice is
necessary for people to succeed because if people are not willing to sacrifice anything such as time or effort, they will not succeed. They need to
sacrifice dedication, effort, and time. These three fundamental principles if used correctly, are the best tools in the race forsuccess. If the rules of using

The common, or "magic", number is 10,000 hours of practice in order for one to become master or professional at what they are trying to accomplish.
Most professional athletes such as hockey players have been playing the sport for just about as long as they could walk. For example, most of the
skaters on the 18u Syracuse Stars AAA hockey team started playing the game at ages 3,4, or 5. Every player on that team is fundamentally sound
when it comes to the game. They have been around it for so long that hockey became a way of life, these are the players, that dedicate the most
time in order to succeed. They give the small amount of practice time that they have everyday, 100% every time they touch the ice. The hockey
players across the world that dedicate the most time to their sport, will be the ones who end up having the best chance at becoming a professional.
The same goes for any profession in which one would like to excel in. The hockey coach for the Syracuse Stars 18u AAA team always says "You
get out of it, what you put in it boys"(Coach Dan Jones). This holds true because if you put in the time to succeed it will show. A better example
would be if there is a player on the team that makes each practice but plays sloppy and does not attend optional practices and makes no effort to put in
extra time,

What Is A Truck Essay
An object that has a special meaning to me would be my dads truck because he has had it my whole life and I have a lot of memories of it. My dad's
truck is special to me because it is a part of my childhood, my dad taught me how to work on cars with that truck and he has had it since it was brand

My dads truck has always been a part of my life because my dad bought it brand new in 1999, just a few months before I was born. As I was saying,
that truck has always been a part of my life, it is what took my mom to the hospital to have me and it is what brought me home from the hospital.

time when we went on long trips when I was younger I would usually go to sleep on the way there but whenever we would go in the truck I was

Helpers In Anthony Doerr's All The Light We Cannot See
"Close friends are truly life's treasures. Sometimes they know us better than we know ourselves. With gentle honesty, they are there to guide and
support us, to share our laughter and our tears. Their presence reminds us that we are never really alone" (Vincent Van Gogh). In the novel, All the
Light We Cannot See, Anthony Doerr shows the beautiful connection between characters who motivate each other to achieve greatest potentials.
Helpers are essential in many lives because their unwavering support and encouragement make people feel safe, important, and capable of making the

Case scenario #1:
Depressed? Worn out by pressure? Is that why your children always see frowns etched on your face? Is that why you are yelling at them??!! Okay.
Come and let's find out why.
Yeah; it is because you work long hours, then come home for more responsibilities like cleaning and doing the house work; taking care of the children
and teaching them etc, etc...
Fine, then why do you work?
I know what you will say....
"I work in order to give my children the best living standards, to please them, so that they can go out and have fun and to enroll them in the best
available schools."
Right, so where does the pressure come from?
"It comes from working my fingers to the bone at work so that they can go to an international school." ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Um, why do not we think a little about that?
Did not you say that you want your children to be the best of people?
Tell me, for the sake of God, are you truly doing what you are doing for the sake of your children? Do not answer so soon.
Wait and think carefully... Is it really for them?
I, for one, do not think you do that for their own sake.
It could be that you want to satisfy yourself by trying to prove that you are the best mother.
Or to have people label you as the greatest mother or, so that they refer to you and say "Oh my, she did this and that. She brought this and purchased
that. She prepared that. She's has got it all... Wow, Wow, Wow."

to happen, and secondly, computers are still a machine and a machine does not last forever so it wouldn't really hurt if you back all your data up. It
is better to be safe than sorry and besides, you can do this while doing other stuff as well. At least when you back it all up, you wouldn't have to worry
about your files being corrupted or erased if something happens.

What The Best College Students Do By Ken Bain
Failure = Success
When I look at the word failure I didn't see success. But that slowly changed as I read the book What the Best College Students Do by Ken Bain
Chapter four. Bain, for me and I'm sure many other, have changed our view point on failure being a bad thing. He instead expressed failure as an
"opportunity to learn something." (121) As infants we grow and develop, we learn to walk by falling down a couple hundred times, and we learn
to speak by babbling. By trying to walk, and trying to talk, we may fail at first. As an infant, you cannot give up when you are face to face with
failure. You must get up and try again to learn. In the book, What the Best College Students Do by Ken Bain he uses people's experiences and
research to explain why failure is an opportunity to learn something new, rather than seeing failure as something bad. He asserts "people who become
highly creative and productive learn to acknowledge failures, even to embrace them, and to explore and learn from them." (100) Failure is important.
If we did not get up and try again as infants, we would not be where we are today.
The main assertion in this chapter is that failure is a life lesson. Failing is constantly unwelcomed in our lives. When we are unsuccessful we tend not
to think, "oh this is going to be a great learning experience." Bain takes a simple approach to explain what good comes out of failure. He uses Group A,
and Group B. In this experiment, there is two different groups one being A

Descriptive Essay About Father
When I was 10 years old, I realized I was different from my father. I was in my room playing with LEGO's when dad called up. "Do you wanna
help me fix the car?" As the truck often had problems dad had to fix. I thought about it, remembering how dirty dad would be afterward. "No, I
don't wanna be filthy," I called back, and that right there is when I realized how different I was from my father. Now thinking about it, both are
physical build as well as mental were completely different. I was clean and liked science and math, while dad was always filthy and preferred
working with his hands over science. The differences could not be more obvious, while dad worked outside fixing this, or building that. I would sit
inside reading a book, both fictional and nonfictional. Obtaining all the information contained inside. Dad would often dive into a problem head on
without much thought about it, while I, on the other hand, would examine a situation from all angles. Attempting to find the best solution. Another
situation is physical. My father is built strong but short, around five six, with a shiny bald head. While I am weak, and skinny, but taller with long
curly hair. Back when father had hair it was straight and black while mine is brown. My skin is always shiny white that can not hold a tan more than a
few days. While dad has a dark tan almost always and he never burns. I was always a child of science and math, while dad did not care for such things.

My Experience An Experience
College: An Experience Astronaut Frank Borman is quoted as saying, "Exploration is really the essence of human spirit". When combatted with
describing the first week of my new life as a Keystone College Giant, this quote appears in my mind. College has been described by some as the time
and place for self discovery. And, through outthis week of starting new classes, meeting new people, trying new things, and, creating and breaking
habits, I think that I have begun to explore the person I want to become. The class of 2021 began this journey with a weekend packed with new
memories and pleasant experiences. This was helpful in getting me settled in and ready to start my eight a.m. Calculus class on Monday morning.
I had never realized just how much I could enjoy the morning until I experienced it here at Keystone. I was convinced that having five days of
early classes was a set up to have the worst semester possible. However, when my alarm went off and I rolled out of bed, I was shocked to find the
quiet campus and the aroma of fresh coffee rather warming. Although I tend to be a night owl I think that I may come to appreciate being an early
bird as well. As I join the clusters of half awake students trudging to class, I notice things we have in common and small conversations start.
Occasionally, small talk becomes longer discussions and I find myself surrounded by people that I could become very close friends with. One of the

A Study On Growth Mindset Essay
Growth Mindset
Throughout my life I never struggled with having a growth mindset in terms of what I wanted to do when I grew up. I spent a very large amount
of time soaking in all the information I could about certain professions. That included spent time with cousins and friends who were engineers,
interning at my father's law firm, working for my uncle's electric company, and being a camp counselor with young children. After a lot of time
and a lot of jobs, I still never found that passion that I was looking for. This could be what they mean when they say someone is "burned out". By
the time I began working for my football coach Kevon Bagot (we just called him KB) who was a personal trainer in the offseason, I had given no
thought into being in the fitness industry, nor did I even think about it. However, it turned out to be my biggest passion and I learned more than I had
in my entire life. While a growth mindset could help one significantly in terms of academics, I found it to be most useful to learn about myself.
A growth mindset tends to be evident when it is applied to people 's passions. Some people find their passion when they are in elementary school,
others do not find them until after they are retired. I found my own passion going into my junior year in high school. I had become burned out searching
for what I wanted to do with my life in terms of a career. I had spent the previous summer interning for my offensive line coach KB, who was a

Analysis Of `` House Of Sand And Fog `` By Andre Dubus IIi
Alienation Throughout the novel "House of Sand and Fog" by Andre Dubus III, the recurring theme of alienation takes its toll on the lives of the two
main characters: Kathy and Behrani. We see how the isolation of both characters not only has an effect on them, but also on the lives of others who
matter most to them. Alienation is the act of being withdrawn or isolated from a life in which one is accustomed or should be accustomed to. The
incidents of alienation demonstrated in the novel include, the relationship between each character and their families, Behrani and his family being
forced out of their home country and living in America, and Kathy getting evicted from her family house. As we see these events occur throughout the
book, we also learn that both characters will do whatever it takes to claim ownership of what they both call home. This drawn–out battle over a piece of
property ends up putting Kathy along with Lester behind bars, and with Behrani losing his son in the process. Dubus illustrates many scenes where
both Kathy and Behrani isolate themselves from their families. For example, when Kathy is at the motel reminiscing of her phone calls with her
mother, we see how Kathy alienates herself from her family when she notes how "after Nick left," she would "start lying about how well he was
doing at his new job" and how "this used to be true" (44). By not telling her mother that Nick had left her, this demonstrates a clear example of her
seclusion from her

The Negative Impact Of Social Media
A majority of teen's specifically generation Z have grown up with their faces glued to a screen. As a Millennial myself, I have seen first hand how it
has affected my generation. Although social media wasn't present in every aspect of our lives, it still had an effect on the way we grew up. Even now
as time goes on it is affecting each generation more and more. Social media can be a great thing for many people. It helps you stay connected with your
family and friends efficiently and quickly. Social media may be a great source of entertainment, but it is also time consuming, when is it too much?
Many teens would rather stay in their rooms with a screen lighting up their faces than go out with friends, resulting in isolation. When many teens are
invited to go out, it's not even a question in their mind that all they want to do is stay home. Although, some might not want to admit it, many aren't
even aware that they're doing it. I myself am guilty of this and many of my peers as well. A common excuse I use is that I have a lot of homework, I
need to study or even I don't feel well. Some thoughts that run through my mind when i'm in this situation are do I feel like being social today? Why
not just stay home, I can text them instead.
Many teens feel comfortable performing these actions and see nothing wrong with it. It's almost as if it's normal to be doing this on a daily basis.
Teens these days are perfectly fine with this life style,"Teens, in turn seem to be content with

Personal Reflection : My Personal Experience : Building...
Over the course of the 5 weeks of experience that I have had, I have been able to see many of these terms come to life in the relationships that I am
building with my individual resident, and with the large group of 20+ residents. I have seen many different interpersonal events and the value of and
the skill that is takes to intentionally and skillfully use my personality and traits and modes with Residents in difficult situations. One thing I have
found true for myself is that it is more difficult than it sounds to execute pure mode use. All my life I have encountered conflicts and been trained in
how to deal with them, using many of the techniques encompassed in the modes, so it has become second nature to respond to conflicts the ways in
which I have been trained. However, Taylor (2008) points out the importance of intentionally and skillfully choosing the modes that will best meet the
client where they are and help them to be able to engage in their occupations, instead of responding using several approaches at once. However, I have
found that as I have been met with interpersonal events, I respond naturally with aspects of both encouragement and instructing, as opposed to utilizing
mode shift to intentionally shift modes when I sense that one is needed to best meet my client. While I feel that I have been able to accomplish a
positive outcome in most of the interpersonal events that I faced, I was not practicing how to be an intentional and effective clinician by doing this.
One such time, a Resident was feeling very discouraged about a new activity and reacted with agitation and anger (emotionally charged therapy session
event), and I responded by giving encouragement, reassuring them, and telling them the things I have seen them do correctly, but at the same time also
reminding them that the only way to get better at something is to keep trying, explaining the benefits of doing it, and demonstrating how to do it again
in a different way. I used both encouraging responses and instructing responses, instead of simply choosing to use encouraging mode or instructing
mode purely. Another time, a power dilemma occurred when my Resident and I were playing a simplified game of Go Fish and she began to

Strengths Of Strength And Conditioning

Strength and Conditioning is essential for athletes, not only to optimise performance, but also to reduce the risk of injury. Discuss this statement.
From my research I have learnt that appropriate conditioning is essential not only to optimise performance, but also to reduce the risk of injury.
Research has demonstrated that strength and conditioning training not only improves performance in strength, power and speed related sports and
activities but also in endurance based sports and activities.
In most sports, it is not the maximum force produced that determines success, it is the strength that can be produced explosively. The best athletes are

Hill uses characterization to show when women are properly educated they can persevere through oppression. Women have the strength and patience to
overcome and when given the proper education they are able to surpass any obstacle. Throughout the novel Aminata Diallo is given opportunities to
persevere through oppression. Firstly, when Aminata is bought by Solomon Lindo, they use her to help with things around the house, but once
they realize all the things that she is capable of doing they begin to respect and pay her for other work she does for Lindo. Her knowledge allows

Unfortunately though, there is also a flip side. Social media has become a part of our everyday lives, and is a viable tool for learning, communication,

Persuasive Speech About Courage In Life
You finally get home from a long day at school. You through your backpack down carelessly and plop yourself down in a chair ready to relax. Then,
you realize that you can't rest and you have to finish the history essay, the math worksheet, the spanish project, and the science notes. In high school,
were so busy with homework, projects, essays, and clubs that it's so hard to have fun and focus on our own passions and what you like. In order to
preserve, protect, and grow one's passion, an individual must stay strong during times of hardship and doubt, focus on their own priorities, and to not
get peer pressured into doing something that isn't their passion.
One way to preserve, protect, and grow one's passion is to stay strong during times of hardship and doubt. For example," Wes's hand is on my back

and being with her because she's one of the only things that Finley likes in this town and she helps him get through his days and even his life. If he
breaks down in front of her, then what type of strength will she have after that? Another way we need to stay strong and keep our passions is because

someone is morally responsible if they could have chosen to do otherwise. People who believe in free will are very supportive of the principle Free
will is the power of acting without the constraint of necessity or fate; the ability to act at one's own discretion. The principle of alternate possibilities,
moral responsibility, and free will are all involved in this paper written by Harry Frankfurt. Frankfurt states that "its exact meaning is a subject of

The similarity is that all 3 of them can be coerced into doing something by a threat. There are also differences between each of these Jones'. Jones 4
had another person in the picture unlike any of the other Jones' and his name was Black. Black is a "lurker" who watches what Jones 4 does, but
Jones 4 is totally unaware that anyone is watching him. If Jones 4 decided to do what he was going to do then Black will stay away without
making any threats, but if Jones 4 decides to not do what he is going to do then Black will reveal himself to threaten and force Jones 4 into doing
what he had decided not to do. If Jones 4 decided to do what he was going to do without Black having to intervene in anyway then that makes Jones
4 morally responsible for since he had chosen to do it himself. If Jones 4 had decided to not do what he was going to do and Black intervened by
threatening and forcing Jones 4 into doing something he initially decided he didn't want to do, that would make Black morally responsible. In the
case of Jones 4, he never really had a choice on whether or not he could or could not do what he was going to do. Either way he was going to have

Anaylsis of the chicken ceremony Essay
Is the Chicken Ceremony a superstition, or is it a supper?
Why are chickens important in the Village Valle del Sole? The Village Valle del Sole is located in one of the most isolated parts in Italy, so people
living there are easily influenced by the lore that is going around the whole village. For example, throughout the novel, it is shown how important the
chicken symbolises to people "He had a fight with his neighbor about a chicken. His neighbor came over with a shotgun, they started shouting and
screaming, and pom! the next thing you know, his hand is gone" (Ricci 20) . From this incident, it can be deduced that even an animal such as a

Why Vittorio would make up a charm in the middle of the chicken ceremony? Not only that this proof shows that Vittorio is superstitious, but that he
has the imagination of chanting these words to increase the mood of the ceremony. Last but not least is Vittorio's lucky coin. When the flames from
the chicken starts to grow, he "had taken my lucky coin from my pocket now and was rubbing it furiously, hoping to calm the spirits" (Ricci 119).
The lucky coin that Vittorio has is a symbol of life since actually before it saved Luciano's life, so he thought that it would be good to be given
Vittorio since he will take care of it.
On the other hand, when Cristina was found in the barn by Vittorio, she had already chop off the head of the chicken withblood staining in her hands,
this doesn't necessary mean that Cristina is performing the chicken ceremony since the process requires " [...] cut out the heart to put in your soup later
[...]" (Ricci 54) and when Vittorio carries out the ceremony secretly by himself, he found out later that "I had forgotten to cut out the chicken's heart"
(Ricci 120) . This shows evidence that Cristina is not necessarily performing the chicken ceremony in the barn to turn it into an offering for God, but

Eulogy For Emma Essay
Let's talk skincare. One thing I've battled with ever since I was a teenager is acne; thankfully I didn't have it very severely but I struggled with it on
my forehead as a teen, and then again all over my face after coming off the pill in late 2011. Going on the pill at 19 really helped regulate my skin and
keep the acne away but since I started getting pregnant, breastfeeding, getting pregnant again...and again (!) hormones have wreaked havoc with my
face and it hasn't been fun to deal with, to say the least.
Then in May of this year I miscarried and I experienced breakouts like I'd never had before. I felt like my face had suddenly exploded with cystic,
sore and painful spots which would not go away no matter what I did. That summer was a pretty dark time, as going through something that painful is
already horrible but doing it publicly with lots of people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dermatologist also recommended I make the switch to mineral makeup which I've done since June. And I religiously take off my makeup every
night with Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm and a wash cloth (I was doing this beforehand anyway). I clean my makeup brushes after every use, I have a
different face towel to my bathroom hand towel (always have done). I still use the Clenziderm cleanser and toner twice a day, along with a tiny
amount of the lotion only on any spots that crop up now and then. Added to the Clenziderm system I haven't stopped using my regular moisturiser and
eye cream which are the Tata Harper Rebuilding Moisturiser and Restorative Eye Cream.
I hope this post will help some of you or answer any skincare related questions that you've recently asked! And if you've ever used Obagi products let
me know how they worked for you. Did you find them effective? Would you recommend

Rich Froning's CrossFit Journey

  • 1. Crossfit By Rich Fron Essay Not knowing what is going to happen is a scary thought. That could go with anything school, your job, or your life in general. The Reebok CrossFit games are all about the unexpected, the unknowable, and with that you have to train for anything and everything. Rich Froning is a four–time consecutive Reebok CrossFit champion, but during the writing of this book he's only talking about his first two, which was in 2011 and 2012. I got enjoyment out of reading this autobiography of Rich Froning's experience at the Games; because it showed his development before CrossFit, it showed me what mental capability, you have to be at to even make it to the games, and finally I related to it due to my love for the sport. Rich Froning was a normal guy who graduated high school not knowing what he wanted to do with his life. Because of this he attended college for baseball, which he barely stayed two months because he didn't enjoy it. He worked with his dad in a factory working on an assembly line. Rich Froning was even a firefighter for a time, although he enjoyed being a firefighter the most he again felt God had... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though I'm conscious of my future, I might register for the CrossFit games later on down the road. The Froning's have experienced grievances along with praise as a family. Through all the downs though the family managed to keep their faith strong; however, with Rich Froning his faith seemed to grow stronger. At the beginning he was always asking what could God do for him? Now it is more of what can he do to spread the word about God. I've never been the type of person to speak to God or even read the Bible, but Froning has made me feel like it's more important to him than his life. There is more to life than fitness, but for the most part it is the greatest lifestyle. Life is about taking that extra step and I think Rich Froning has accomplished ... • 2. Saint James Place Is A Place Saint James Place is a place the welcomes all people who are struggling and are in need of food, clothes, and a job. Only the people who really need help come to Saint James. A lot of struggling people rely on Saint James for food, clothes, and warmth. Every weekday night they have a dinner for people to come in for the cold or from the heat and have a hot meal in front of them for a night. The banquet hall is full of people almost every night and when it is not they can go back up for seconds. Saint James is more than just a place where food is cooked and given to the hungry. It is a place where people can pick up groceries, get clothes and shoes, and help people with various things that can better their life. The people at Saint James ... When the van is unloaded, the van is swept from anything that fell out of the boxes and the food that was rotten and already open and not any good is thrown away in the garbage. Once inside all the food that is used is taken to the pantry to be sorted and put in the right place. Some days the cook takes food and brings it in the kitchen and puts it in the back freezer and is frozen in zero degree temperature and eventually it comes back and is used for a dinner that night. The food in the pantry is eventually put into grocery bags and put into carts and given to the hungry. There are two grocery bags in each cart, a gallon of milk, a package of frozen meat, and a 106 oz. can of black eyed peas. There are about ten grocery carts lined up each filled groceries. Once one cart leaves and comes it is immediately filled with more groceries. During this time everybody is doing something. They are either making grocery bags, filling up the empty carts, inserting food, bringing the carts to the people, and bringing skids of food in.People come in from nine to twelve to get groceries and then they close until dinner. At twelve most the volunteers leave and go home, while the people who work there prepare for the next day and dinner that night. This could include making more bags of groceries, restocking the pantry shelves, and organizing the freezer, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Personal Narrative: The Great Goals The Great Goal It was during the fall when I realized that I was going to apply to Saint Edward High School. I had shadowed there and many of my friends knew they were going too. I figured that this was the best choice for me and I was most comfortable there. I knew I wanted to be in advanced classes, but then the Mccullah twins introduced me to the IB programme. Around six p.m., on the SJJ football field before practice, The Mccullah twins asked me and a few other teammates, "Did you guys hear about that new IB program at St. Ed's?" We responded with, "No, what's that?" "It's this new advanced program that we're going to try out for; you have to be super smart to get in." The Mccullah brothers were short, funny, and they looked identical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I did my interview yesterday." "How did it go?" "It went great! Just be yourself and bring a cool object that represents you." "I will, thanks." About a week later my parents received a letter from Saint Edward High School. They yelled to me,"Mason, we have a letter from St. Ed's!" "Cool, can I read it?" "Sure! We think you'll like what's inside." I read the letter carefully and it said that I had been accepted. There was only one more requirement, and that was the declaration of interest. "I got accepted! What's this 400 word essay I have to write?" "It's a declaration of interest letter. You'll be able to do it." "That's great!" A little while later I wrote my essay. The topic was international mindedness. To understand this better, I researched what international mindedness was and I discovered that there was no true definition for it. I looked through my sources and I wrote that international mindedness is a state of mind, where you can accept people of all races, ages, and religions. Not too long after, Reme, Liam, and I all received our IB acceptance letters. We were both very happy. Then, Reme, Liam and I were all accepted to Saint Edward High School. • 5. Persuasive Essay About Hanging Lake It was a warm summer afternoon in 2015 near Glenwood Springs, Colorado. My family decided we needed to get some exercise on our vacation. So my parents thought it would be a fantastic idea to go on a hike. We ended up going to a popular trail called, the Hanging Lake Trail. At the top of the mountain there are beautiful waterfalls and a large lake with extremely eye appealing scenery, hence the name "Hanging Lake". Cayden and I were not excited for this activity at all. Both of us were complaining and saying the same exact thing, "It is vacation and we are doing physical activity? No! We should be relaxing." My parents did not care what we were saying; however, They had their minds set on the fact that we were going to go on a hike. Once... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I knew my brother was not the type for doing physical activity, but I wanted to see how we would do. "Okay, Cayden and I are going to start. If you need anything, call us. We will see you at the top." Those were the last words that I told them before we were off. We started off at a jogging pace because we wanted to familiarize ourselves with the terrain. Almost every step we took there was either large pointed rocks, thick embedded roots, or large swallowing holes. We knew we had to be as careful as possible. There were warning signs all over the path to make sure people are aware of the possible dangers, but that never made us think to stop. Every one fourth of a mile there was a sign that told you how close you were to the top, so once we made it to the halfway point we decided to take a break. There was not much talking between both of us, our time was spent drinking water and preparing for the final stretch of the trail. After I was rested, I asked my brother what time we were at. He checked his phone and we were at 18 minutes. I thought to myself, It only took us 18 minutes to reach halfway up the mountain, and I think I did not push myself as hard as I could go. I turned to Cayden with a gigantic grin and said,"Want to finish before 30 minutes?" Judging by his body language, I could tell that he was exhausted. • 6. Christian Ethics Class At St. Joseph Home Care As part of my Christian Ethics class, I volunteered in St. Joseph Home Care for three hours. It's an organization led by Ukrainian nuns and they have been for years now. The Home Care is mainly filled with elders and primarily are Ukrainians or Canadians. During the time I volunteered, I learned many things about myself and others. Also, I experienced new things that influenced me. My best experience was when I met an old man named Peter. I remember Peter as a funny and cool person. Peter was probably the best part in volunteering at St. Joseph because he was very fun to be with. He loves to sing very loudly and it's just amusing to watch. This one time, Peter beckoned me to come to him and I still remember his warm smile. He took my hand ... Ben arrived earlier than me and I only got the chance to spend thirty minutes with him. The Imitation of Christ The way I imitated Christ was when I showed people the true meaning of kindness and cheerfulness. What I did was a great example of what Jesus did for his people. He helped and in return, he brought back the idea of contentment to the people. Not only I served the people, but most importantly, I served Jesus. He expected us to follow his way meaning to help each and everyone, no matter who the person is. According to Matthew 25:40, "And the King will say, 'I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!' • 7. Analysis Of The Movie ' The Lottery ' There are a lot of characters that play a huge role in the outcome of the story. Tessie Hutchinson, who was thrilled about the lottery, was the one who gets the paper with a black dot. She always wanted to participate each year but this year she wasn't so happy about it. She complained because her family's names were also included in the lottery drawing. Bill Hutchinson, Tessie's husband, was the one who drew the lottery, in the end. Even though Tessie complained and protested about the lottery, he acknowledged it because it was apart of the town's tradition. Old Man Warner has partaken in 77 lotteries over the years. He is also known as the oldest person in the Town. He believes that the lottery cleans people's sin and allows them to be kind. He feels as if there shouldn't be a change, and the lottery ceremony should remain as apart of town tradition. Mr. Summers, has no children, is the guy who leads the lottery ceremony. His job is to make the papers and announce the drawn lottery recipient. Mr. Harry Graves, the postmaster, assists Mr. Summers in preparing for the lottery. The children and other families of the town are secondary characters in the story. Their main role is to collect rocks and cause ruckus during the lottery ceremony. Setting: The story takes place in rural part of New England, during the summer time. The lottery was held on June 27th, around 10 a.m., between the town's bank and post office. • 8. Corporate Social Responsibility : Marks & Spencer Corporate social responsibility, also known as CSR, is one of the most important topics in the corporate world. If a company is not public about its CSR mission or report, it could make consumers think that they do not care about them, their community or their environment. If a company does not demonstrate that have a positive view on CSR, then they could end up losing profitability because consumers will not want to support them, which could cause the company to close. These closings could be caused by multiple things, including competition from other companies that show they have strong understanding of corporate social responsibility. Marks & Spencer, also known as M&S, was established in 1884 as a local store in the UK. "As it grew, staying close to the community was important to its founders and by the 1930s the name Marks & Spencer was synonymous with trust, quality, and significantly as an employer who looked after its employees, going beyond the minimum standards for wages, benefits and care" (Richardson, 2015). For years, Marks & Spencer were known for taking care of their employees, customers, and community but as times changed in the world, corporate America changed along with it. "There comes a time when other competitors copy and look for advantage, and this was the case for M&S as other UK retailers assumed the leadership of the sector it once regarded as its own natural territory" (Richardson, 2015). It became increasingly important for M&S to do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Beyond Start Up Mode : What Leaders At Established... Beyond start–up mode: What leaders at established companies need to understand about discipline, process management, and enforcement as enablers of innovation. Innovation and agility are likely two of the most talked–about topics in business today. Unfortunately all of that focus has resulted in naГЇve extremist interpretations that create a higher probability of failure, frustration, and confusion within larger, more established companies. These established companies with meaningful revenue, reasonable margins, happy clients, and a pool of talented resources are well positioned and should be driving innovation, but instead are being outflanked by the much smaller, resource–strained efforts of the mythical two people in a garage. Why does this happen? What should the established company be doing? And even more importantly, what should they not be doing? The Why – Good smart people have great ideas, but you can't do everything. To quote one of the most notable executive coaches, Marshall Goldsmith, "What Got You Here, Won't Get You There". This applies to corporate approaches to innovation as much as it does to great leaders. • 11. Example Of Observation Of Basketball For my second observation I went back to my elementary school from when I was younger and observed a second grade physical education class and their teacher Mrs. McFarland. It was a rainy day so the lesson was held in the cafeteria. I observed Mrs. McFarland teach the first lesson of basketball to her class, before class she told me that this would be the first lesson of a 6 part lesson. When the students walked into the cafeteria they immediately sat down in their assigned spots on the floor, Mrs. McFarland stood up at the front of the room by the stage area and all the students. When all the students were seated Mrs. McFarland gave a very brief explanation on what the students would be doing that day and then they started with a warm up. During the warm up the students started out galloping around the room to music and when the music stop she would shout of jumping jacks and the students would do jumping jacks until the music came back on. They did this warm up for about 5 minutes and then went back to their spots and sat down. Mrs. McFarland went back to the front of the cafeteria and began to talk to the students about what they would be doing. She gave a demonstration of the triple threat position and then asked the students some questions about what they saw her just do. Next, she had the children grab their our balls and come back to their spot so that they could practice some ball handling drills. • 17. Analysis Of Toni Morrison 's ' The ' Traditionally, motherhood is thought to be one of the most amazing occurrences to happen to a woman. From my experiences, the idea and anticipation of bearing and being eternally responsible for a child reigns excitement through the veins of many young women today. However, many young women may not be ready for the vast responsibilities of motherhood and therefore, may participate in neglectful behavior. Toni Morrison's short story titled "Recitatif", reflects on the evolving lives of two friends, Twyla and Roberta. Throughout the story, Morrison intentionally depicts the theme of motherhood in a negative, non–traditional way to shed light on realistic problems within families and households. The two main characters, Twyla and Roberta, were both abandoned by their mothers. They were eventually sent to a children's home, St. Bonny's, where they quickly bonded over their resentment for their "sick" mothers. The two friends, along with others from St. Bonny's, often mocked and made fun of a crippled, mute, kitchen worker named Maggie. In "Recitatif", Morrison uses Maggie as a parallel to the mother–daughter relationships between the two friends and their mothers, specifically Twyla and her mother. As stated previously, Maggie was crippled, mute, and deaf and was constantly tormented and abused by the children of the shelter. The disabilities of both being crippled and not being able to communicate with others were undoubtedly hard for the younger children of St. Bonny's to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Homework As A Good Thing Essay Roth, Grace AP Lang Period 6 October 19, 2016 Abstract Homework has been considered apart of every child's learning experience in America, but there are many downsides to homework. Homework prevents children from exploring the world they live in, besides just what they learn in the classroom and prevents many other activities. Along with this, homework can be very unhealthy is child's life due to the amount of stress it causes. There is also evidence that suggests homework has no affect on learning and in many cases is counter productive. Homework causes many conflicts within families and is in many households left to the parents and not the students. The evidence of homework being a good thing is outweighed by the evidence that shows how homework can be a negative thing in many students lives. Citations Copping, J. (2014, January 16). • 24. What The Best College Students Do By Ken Bain Failure = Success When I look at the word failure I didn't see success. But that slowly changed as I read the book What the Best College Students Do by Ken Bain Chapter four. Bain, for me and I'm sure many other, have changed our view point on failure being a bad thing. He instead expressed failure as an "opportunity to learn something." (121) As infants we grow and develop, we learn to walk by falling down a couple hundred times, and we learn to speak by babbling. By trying to walk, and trying to talk, we may fail at first. As an infant, you cannot give up when you are face to face with failure. You must get up and try again to learn. In the book, What the Best College Students Do by Ken Bain he uses people's experiences and research to explain why failure is an opportunity to learn something new, rather than seeing failure as something bad. He asserts "people who become highly creative and productive learn to acknowledge failures, even to embrace them, and to explore and learn from them." (100) Failure is important. If we did not get up and try again as infants, we would not be where we are today. The main assertion in this chapter is that failure is a life lesson. Failing is constantly unwelcomed in our lives. When we are unsuccessful we tend not to think, "oh this is going to be a great learning experience." Bain takes a simple approach to explain what good comes out of failure. He uses Group A, and Group B. In this experiment, there is two different groups one being A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After a lot of time and a lot of jobs, I still never found that passion that I was looking for. This could be what they mean when they say someone is "burned out". • 30. Analysis Of `` House Of Sand And Fog `` By Andre Dubus IIi Alienation Throughout the novel "House of Sand and Fog" by Andre Dubus III, the recurring theme of alienation takes its toll on the lives of the two main characters: Kathy and Behrani. We see how the isolation of both characters not only has an effect on them, but also on the lives of others who matter most to them. Alienation is the act of being withdrawn or isolated from a life in which one is accustomed or should be accustomed to. The incidents of alienation demonstrated in the novel include, the relationship between each character and their families, Behrani and his family being forced out of their home country and living in America, and Kathy getting evicted from her family house. As we see these events occur throughout the book, we also learn that both characters will do whatever it takes to claim ownership of what they both call home. This drawn–out battle over a piece of property ends up putting Kathy along with Lester behind bars, and with Behrani losing his son in the process. Dubus illustrates many scenes where both Kathy and Behrani isolate themselves from their families. For example, when Kathy is at the motel reminiscing of her phone calls with her mother, we see how Kathy alienates herself from her family when she notes how "after Nick left," she would "start lying about how well he was doing at his new job" and how "this used to be true" (44). As a Millennial myself, I have seen first hand how it has affected my generation. Although social media wasn't present in every aspect of our lives, it still had an effect on the way we grew up. Even now as time goes on it is affecting each generation more and more. Social media can be a great thing for many people. It helps you stay connected with your family and friends efficiently and quickly. Social media may be a great source of entertainment, but it is also time consuming, when is it too much? Many teens would rather stay in their rooms with a screen lighting up their faces than go out with friends, resulting in isolation. When many teens are invited to go out, it's not even a question in their mind that all they want to do is stay home. Although, some might not want to admit it, many aren't even aware that they're doing it. I myself am guilty of this and many of my peers as well. A common excuse I use is that I have a lot of homework, I need to study or even I don't feel well. Some thoughts that run through my mind when i'm in this situation are do I feel like being social today? Why not just stay home, I can text them instead. Many teens feel comfortable performing these actions and see nothing wrong with it. It's almost as if it's normal to be doing this on a daily basis. Teens these days are perfectly fine with this life style,"Teens, in turn seem to be content with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Personal Reflection : My Personal Experience : Building... Over the course of the 5 weeks of experience that I have had, I have been able to see many of these terms come to life in the relationships that I am building with my individual resident, and with the large group of 20+ residents. I have seen many different interpersonal events and the value of and the skill that is takes to intentionally and skillfully use my personality and traits and modes with Residents in difficult situations. One thing I have found true for myself is that it is more difficult than it sounds to execute pure mode use. All my life I have encountered conflicts and been trained in how to deal with them, using many of the techniques encompassed in the modes, so it has become second nature to respond to conflicts the ways in which I have been trained. However, Taylor (2008) points out the importance of intentionally and skillfully choosing the modes that will best meet the client where they are and help them to be able to engage in their occupations, instead of responding using several approaches at once. However, I have found that as I have been met with interpersonal events, I respond naturally with aspects of both encouragement and instructing, as opposed to utilizing mode shift to intentionally shift modes when I sense that one is needed to best meet my client. While I feel that I have been able to accomplish a positive outcome in most of the interpersonal events that I faced, I was not practicing how to be an intentional and effective clinician by doing this. One such time, a Resident was feeling very discouraged about a new activity and reacted with agitation and anger (emotionally charged therapy session event), and I responded by giving encouragement, reassuring them, and telling them the things I have seen them do correctly, but at the same time also reminding them that the only way to get better at something is to keep trying, explaining the benefits of doing it, and demonstrating how to do it again in a different way. I used both encouraging responses and instructing responses, instead of simply choosing to use encouraging mode or instructing mode purely. Another time, a power dilemma occurred when my Resident and I were playing a simplified game of Go Fish and she began to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Strengths Of Strength And Conditioning Section A Strength and Conditioning is essential for athletes, not only to optimise performance, but also to reduce the risk of injury. Discuss this statement. From my research I have learnt that appropriate conditioning is essential not only to optimise performance, but also to reduce the risk of injury. Research has demonstrated that strength and conditioning training not only improves performance in strength, power and speed related sports and activities but also in endurance based sports and activities. In most sports, it is not the maximum force produced that determines success, it is the strength that can be produced explosively. The best athletes are not always the strongest but are often the most explosive. Even in highly skilled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This article is about the tyrone football team that Mickey Harte managed to go on and win All Ireland in 2003,2005,3008 the article starts off saying that to be a GAA intercounty player you have to be extremity committed and you have to stand out from your average club player. Is strength and conditioning a major part to play in becoming a top athlete? Or do you just naturally have it. I said to Mikey if myself personally think that you are born into certain things like running, sprinting, swimming we both used usain bolt is a freak of nature. I then said that GAA players play the fastest field game in the world so do be at the elite level you obviously have to have very good flexibility and mobility he agreed I then went on to say does your average club player and your very good county player do the same exercises? Do they do the same winter training? Do they do the same warm up prior to matches? He said no but they are similar he said that intercounty players are fitter and more skilled and equipped than your average club player therefore the level of strength and conditioning needs to be higher at an Elite Athlete level. Wes Williams Mr. Bellissimo ENG–4UI–01 4 November 2015 Desensitizing Society In today's fast paced world of technology, news and material travel at a supersonic speed. Subjects are then conversed, deliberated as well as disputed feverishly on the virtual landscape: giving way to argument and counter argument, thus leaving no stone unturned. Social media has undeniably played an operative role in sanctioning the common age. Unfortunately though, there is also a flip side. Social media has become a part of our everyday lives, and is a viable tool for learning, communication, and ultimately keeping up to date. • 37. Stereotypes Of Attending Church They are so many stereotypes that those who attend church are boring. Those who believe that can be categorized as ignorant people. They have created a system based on what they have heard. People should not judge what they have not experienced. All this has arisen from the lack of knowledge about how the life of those who attend church should be. If you have never been part of any church, you can't say much, less judge saying that those who attend church live a boring life. A person does not have to have the same thoughts, beliefs or live their life the same as you in order to have fun. We use many instruments to dance like Tambourines, Praise Hoops and Flags. We also attend a lot of Christians concerts I enjoy this because instead of going to a concert where you are dancing just to place your body and getting drunk, I go to seek God presence and leave full of that place. By being part of a ministry we attend a lot of conferences where we get to learn more about God, where we can interact with other churches. What I enjoy the most is when we attend the youth and dance camps. Youths camps are so fun because we get to met many youths from all over NY, NJ, and CT. This is so fun because is a time that we have for ourselves without any adults around, where we play games, we go to sleep late either because we are talking, doing each others hair and makeup. • 38. Persuasive Speech About Courage In Life You finally get home from a long day at school. You through your backpack down carelessly and plop yourself down in a chair ready to relax. Then, you realize that you can't rest and you have to finish the history essay, the math worksheet, the spanish project, and the science notes. In high school, were so busy with homework, projects, essays, and clubs that it's so hard to have fun and focus on our own passions and what you like. In order to preserve, protect, and grow one's passion, an individual must stay strong during times of hardship and doubt, focus on their own priorities, and to not get peer pressured into doing something that isn't their passion. One way to preserve, protect, and grow one's passion is to stay strong during times of hardship and doubt. For example," Wes's hand is on my back now too. He says, "You need to be strong for Erin. Be a man. Okay? I nod because I'm supposed to, but I feel like I'm going to throw up again" (Quick 174). Even though Finley says that he wants to throw up inside, he knows that he has to stay strong for Erin. One of his passions was Erin and being with her because she's one of the only things that Finley likes in this town and she helps him get through his days and even his life. If he breaks down in front of her, then what type of strength will she have after that? Another way we need to stay strong and keep our passions is because of the direction our school programs have been taking. For example, "Our educational ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Alternate Possibilities And Moral Responsibility By Harry... Alternate Possibilities and Moral Responsibility talks about the principle of alternate possibilities. The principle of alternate possibilities states that someone is morally responsible if they could have chosen to do otherwise. People who believe in free will are very supportive of the principle Free will is the power of acting without the constraint of necessity or fate; the ability to act at one's own discretion. The principle of alternate possibilities, moral responsibility, and free will are all involved in this paper written by Harry Frankfurt. Frankfurt states that "its exact meaning is a subject of controversy, particularly concerning whether someone who accepts it is thereby committed to believing that moral responsibility and determinism ... Jones 4 had another person in the picture unlike any of the other Jones' and his name was Black. Black is a "lurker" who watches what Jones 4 does, but Jones 4 is totally unaware that anyone is watching him. If Jones 4 decided to do what he was going to do then Black will stay away without making any threats, but if Jones 4 decides to not do what he is going to do then Black will reveal himself to threaten and force Jones 4 into doing what he had decided not to do. If Jones 4 decided to do what he was going to do without Black having to intervene in anyway then that makes Jones 4 morally responsible for since he had chosen to do it himself. If Jones 4 had decided to not do what he was going to do and Black intervened by threatening and forcing Jones 4 into doing something he initially decided he didn't want to do, that would make Black morally responsible. In the case of Jones 4, he never really had a choice on whether or not he could or could not do what he was going to do. Either way he was going to have to do what he was going to do. Jones 4 situation proves the principle of alternate possibilities wrong in the fact that Jones 4 never had a choice so someone can be morally responsible even without having a choice in the matter, which Jones 4 never knew he did not have. Harry Frankfurt then presents a revision of the principle of alternate possibilities. The new principle says that someone is morally responsible for their action if they did it only because they could not have done otherwise. • 40. Anaylsis of the chicken ceremony Essay Is the Chicken Ceremony a superstition, or is it a supper? Why are chickens important in the Village Valle del Sole? The Village Valle del Sole is located in one of the most isolated parts in Italy, so people living there are easily influenced by the lore that is going around the whole village. For example, throughout the novel, it is shown how important the chicken symbolises to people "He had a fight with his neighbor about a chicken. His neighbor came over with a shotgun, they started shouting and screaming, and pom! the next thing you know, his hand is gone" (Ricci 20) . From this incident, it can be deduced that even an animal such as a chicken could be considered precious due to their superstitions during that era. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why Vittorio would make up a charm in the middle of the chicken ceremony? Not only that this proof shows that Vittorio is superstitious, but that he has the imagination of chanting these words to increase the mood of the ceremony. Last but not least is Vittorio's lucky coin. When the flames from the chicken starts to grow, he "had taken my lucky coin from my pocket now and was rubbing it furiously, hoping to calm the spirits" (Ricci 119). The lucky coin that Vittorio has is a symbol of life since actually before it saved Luciano's life, so he thought that it would be good to be given Vittorio since he will take care of it. On the other hand, when Cristina was found in the barn by Vittorio, she had already chop off the head of the chicken withblood staining in her hands, this doesn't necessary mean that Cristina is performing the chicken ceremony since the process requires " [...] cut out the heart to put in your soup later [...]" (Ricci 54) and when Vittorio carries out the ceremony secretly by himself, he found out later that "I had forgotten to cut out the chicken's heart" (Ricci 120) . This shows evidence that Cristina is not necessarily performing the chicken ceremony in the barn to turn it into an offering for God, but maybe she is doing it to 3 make soup. • 41. Eulogy For Emma Essay Let's talk skincare. One thing I've battled with ever since I was a teenager is acne; thankfully I didn't have it very severely but I struggled with it on my forehead as a teen, and then again all over my face after coming off the pill in late 2011. Going on the pill at 19 really helped regulate my skin and keep the acne away but since I started getting pregnant, breastfeeding, getting pregnant again...and again (!) hormones have wreaked havoc with my face and it hasn't been fun to deal with, to say the least. Then in May of this year I miscarried and I experienced breakouts like I'd never had before.
