Alice plans to create a nature magazine focusing on landscapes, sunsets, autumn leaves, foggy mornings, birds, and people's experiences in nature. She will include her own photography and write about interviews, reviews, area experiences, photographers, and locations. Her mood board includes misty landscape images suggesting a magazine to attract non-outdoor people. Bird photos from different angles could inspire readers. She will research, experiment with production, propose and plan the magazine over 5 weeks.
2. Initial Reaction
I was thinking of making a magazine that is related to nature/outdoor places. This is because I
enjoy going out to different places and viewing scenery. I also am able to include my own
photography in this as I can take photos of nature and the environment in my area which can
be added in my magazine. For the images I could take photo’s of things like:
• Sunsets
• Landscapes
• The autumn leaves
• A foggy morning
• A longshot photo with a person in it
• Nature (e.g. birds)
I enjoy writing and talking about relevant things, so I feel like when I add the images onto my
article I will be able to talk about that and hopefully make it interesting. For the text I could
write about things like:
• Interviews
• Reviews
• People’s experiences at that place/area
• The photographer
• What is in the area
6. Mood Board Analysis
On one side of my mood board I have added images in of the landscapes in different
outdoor areas. Most of the pictures of the landscape show a misty atmosphere and
looks like some were taken early in the morning and in the evening at sun-down.
These type of images would be good for a magazine that wants to attract people who
don’t usually go out often. This is because the images are clear with a wide view and
show’s people landscapes that they may not just see out of their window or in their
hometown. The images all have a dark shadow colour with an orange tone to it for the
sun set so therefor on a magazine these images would be part of a collage with darker
tones, the brightness may even be turned down a bit to give that effect.
On the other side of the mood board, I added in photos of birds of nature as in my
magazine I’m hoping to add some bird photos in. I purposefully chose to add in photos
of birds from different angles, for example in one photo the bird is sat down looking at
the camera and in another photo the bird is flying in the air. This gives me ideas on
what images I would prefer to be in my magazine and how I could write about it. Most
of the bird images have a green background setting, one has a tree in the background.
This kind of photography is effective as the background makes the reader
automatically realise that these images were taken out in the open and not edited or
anything like that. This could encourage people to go outside and view birds
themselves or even capture images.
