Theme or focus of images
This selection of images I have chosen is from a photographer called Storm Gunter. The pictures I have
chosen are animal landscape pictures. I have chosen these because the pictures capture the animals
very well. I personally think that the way the image is taken makes you imagine you were actually there in
the moment.
Storm Gunter uses the whole image very well. The way he portrays the animals in there sort of natural
state. It’s almost like he is trying to get the animal’s true personality across. Like the picture of the leopard,
this shows a laid back, chilled out cat. This is how cats normally are. Or the picture of the elephant. I think
the whole half face image is very good because it shows a sense of mystery.
The theme that we can see if all of these photos is quite different because it tries to portray the animal in
its natural habitat and it shows the animal in a very different and chilled out way. The depth of field is very
good in most of these pictures. The way some of the image is clear and focused and others are
completely blurry.
Composition
The composition of these images is very poor. I don’t like the way that the photographer is just standing.
He isn’t trying hard to make anything special of images even though the images are very good. But the
way that he fills the image with both the animal and the environment, and that the depth of field above the
animal is very good.
Techniques used
The picture of the Dear, (The Bottom picture) had to have very specific settings on the camera, This Is

because the detail within the picture is very good, but also the colours and the lighting used were very
specific. This was because The photographer wanted a certain look to the image. Same with the picture
of the elephant.
The depth of field within these images is very well portrayed. Especially with the photo of the 'springbok &
Zebra` this is because 2 photos have been edited together, and this is good because one, the springbok's
In focus, the next the zebras are.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Personally I believe that there are very good strengths and very bad weaknesses.
Strengths:
• Is actual image itself is very good, and well thought off. And the way that the animals and they
environment is portrayed is very clear and good.
• Also what the animals are doing in the image is good because thee not doing anything
spectacular, they are in there natural state. This means we get a glimpse of a different side of
the animal.
Weakness:
• The image, although it is very eye catching its boring. It shows nothing spectacular that a
thousand other photographers haven’t already have thought of, and the height that the image
was taken isn't that special either. The photographer is just taking it from normal height and not
bending down or taking it from a lower angel.
• Also on a few of the pictures the image is unclear, and quite blurry. This isn’t good because a lot
of the pictures are a once in a lifetime capture, and to have a blurry picture just makes you a
poor photographer. (But on the other hand it depends on your camera and your experience with
the camera you have).
