2. How is multi-timeline editing different from
editing on a single timeline?
• Multi-timeline editing is a lot more time consuming that editing on a single
timeline in my opinion. This is due to the fact you need to ensure that the opacity
for each camera is turned up or down when you want it to be which takes time.
For example we had 4 different cameras and when I wanted one camera to be
on I needed to ensure the opacity for the other 3 cameras was down so they
were not in shot.
• Similarly when using the razor blade tool we needed to use it for all of the
different cameras instead of just one.
• However multi-timeline editing is also useful as having all the different cameras
on the same timeline and being able to edit as you go is a lot easier than having
to add lots of different clips onto one single timeline and edit them as and when
you want them.
3. What tools have you used that you haven't
used previously?
• Because in my first year I did print I haven't done much video editing most of the
tools I used were things I hadn't used previously.
• However when I have done some editing I have used single timeline and
therefore I haven't had to know much about opacity which is important when
multi timeline editing.
• Similarly I have never had to end a video, in this video I didn't’t finish all the song
so I had to use the razor blade tool and learn how to crop the video and music
when I wanted the video to be finished.

4. What did you find easy about the task? And
what did you find challenging
• Overall I found the task quite easy to edit, I think finding the best
place for the camera shots to change due to the music was quite
easy and the actual cutting of shots was simple as you only need to
razor blade tool.
• The thing I found most challenging was the multi timeline being quite
cluttered because of the different cameras. This especially will
probably be a drawback for me when we do out actual video as
there will be many different clips from different cameras on the
timeline, which I think will be quite confusing.
5. What specific skills do you think you developed
or enhanced?
• Because I hadn't done much video editing before this task I think I
developed a lot of skill and learned a lot about editing that I didn't’t
know. For example changing the opacity, matching the music up to
the video and cutting the footage.
• However I think as I go along and become more confident when
editing my own video I will develop a lot more skills and learn new
tools for example learning new transitions and working with a lot
more on a timeline.

6. How could you build on this for your main task?
• I want my main task to be as professionally edited as it can be to mirror a real music video
that has been produced. In order to do this I will need to develop a lot more skills to
enhance the quality of editing.
• Although my teacher will be able to help me with some things I will also benefit from using
external recourses such as YouTube videos on editing which will help my independent
learning skills and also teach me lots of new editing tricks and skills.
• I may also use some test footage to upload onto final cut and try edit and make look
interesting to ensure I have practice for when it comes to editing the real thing.
• As well as YouTube for external recourses I may also use websites such as after effects to
find ways of making my product look unique and interesting. I can find tutorials for after
effects on the internet.
