2. Management
For this project, I feel that I have managed my time effectively and finished my
project in enough time to a high standard. I feel like I have finished the project due
to the client being happy with the finished products. On reflection, I maybe gave
myself a little too much time in order to create all of the products that my client
asked me to create. However, this is better than not having enough time to create
them as there are certain aspects that could have gone wrong. For example, the
client may not have like my initial idea, this would have set me back in production
time as I would have had to have created a new concept that the client would like,
before I could create anything else. Or the client could have wanted me to tweak
things and this also takes time as there would be more emailing and waiting around
to see what the client came back with. By having extra time in order to create the
products, it gave me a safety net if any of these possible problems occurred.
I have communicated well with the client, I emailed them my treatment and they
were very happy with that, this meant that I could move on with the production.
Throughout production, the communication between the client and myself was
very efficient. This has been very useful when creating things and getting the
clients thoughts on it and seeing if the wanted anything changing. This helped me
not waste time by waiting for a response from my client. If the client hadn’t
responded so efficiently, I may have been behind on my production work and may
not have finished the project on time.
3. Management
I have met the requirements of the brief in that I have created
everything that they have asked me to. I created a simple but effective
colour scheme that can be used throughout the company, I have used
a font that can be used for anything that needs to be written within
the company and new logo and website and business card. I have
looked into putting the company onto social media, however as it was
something I negotiated with them about putting into the brief, I didn’t
spend a lot of time on it. This is because I came to realise that they
wouldn’t keep it updated and most of their clients don’t have
Facebook or Instagram (the two forms of social media that I wanted to
use for Walker Renovations) as they are of the older generation.
I have learnt that I am capable of organizing my time effectively
enough to create all the products in a brief and have time to amend
any things that the client doesn’t want. I have also learnt that I can
find my own clients and communicate with them in a professional
manner.
5. Logo Development
The first three logos are the development
on the way to the final logo (above). The
first logo was the bases of the final logo as
it uses the half house to connect
everything. This is something that is
simple but also interesting. It stands out
over the competitions logos as it is very
different in design. The second and third
attempts came after I decided to use
Helvetica Neue as my font throughout the
company. I just used different weights for
different words but didn’t use the half
house on the end. I felt that it didn’t look
finished so I combined the fist and second
together.
6. Website Development
The websites on the left are
the original designs that I
was aiming for. I changed it
completely due to the fact
that they look dated and
there isn’t actually a lot of
information that would
warrant having a whole
website.
This is why I decided to go
for a webpage that has all
of the the information
available in one place in an
effective way.
I should have assessed the
amount of information that
the company wanted on
the website before starting
to create a website. This
would have saved me time
and I would have been able
to research other webpages
rather than websites for my
inspiration, this would have
also saved time.
7. Business Card Development
The business cards on the lefts are two possible designs that I started to work on. These were only single sided so I
decided to make a double sided card (the one on the right) so that the client could choose which one they wanted.
They decided to go for the one on the right hand side, I feel this was the right choice as it looks more professional
than just one sided. It looks more sleek and more aesthetically pleasing. It will look even better when printed, this
is because the grey logo with be shiny and the yellow background will be matt.
By creating multiple business cards, this gave my client options as to how they wanted their business to come
across. By having everything on one side of the card, it made it look cheap and not as well thought out. By using
the space more effectively, it makes the card look more professional and therefore the company. This became
apparent when researching pre-existing business cards.
8. Legal & Regulatory Constraints
There aren’t really any legal or regulatory constraints for this project. I
have not gone against any copyright laws as I have designed all of my work
from new and have only looked at other companies products for
inspiration. I have not based my work on any of the work that I
researched, I just used some elements of it that I liked of different
products.
I have also not gone against any plagiarism laws as half of the text I have
written myself on the webpage and the other half was written by the
company. None of the other building companies in the same are have used
anything like this and none of the companies that I researched wrote
anything too similar to what has been written.
The project also abides by ASA regulations - compliance, recognition of
advertising and misleading advertising.
