8. We will now watch a series of multi-camera productions.
For each one I would like you to consider of
the following:
1. What format is the production?
(I.e. live event or studio production)
2. Why has multi-camera been used?
(I.e. coverage of action, communicating meaning, visual style, maintaining
interest, constraints)

Multi-camera
10. In groups of 3 I would like you to find 2 clips and analyse them.
1. Live Event
(e.g. sports event, public event, music performance, staged event)
2. Studio Production
(e.g. sitcom, game show, news, chat show)
I would then like you to think of the following:
• coverage of action
• communicating meaning
• visual style
• maintaining interest
• constraints
You have 1 hour to prepare a 5 minute presentation
Group Task:
11. Group Activity
In teams of 3/4 you must come up with an idea for a
brand new TV show, shot using multi-cameras. This
could be a chat-show, quiz, game-show, sitcom or any
kind of programme which is shot in a studio.
Once you have your idea you must then use the
available flip-chart paper to design your set and annotate
with the following:
- format of your show
- reason for multi-cam (meaning, style.
Interest, constraints
- production (crew, planning and exhibition)
You have 30 minutes complete this task! You will
then present your show to the rest of the class.
12. We will now watch 2 clips from Multi-camera studios.
Throughout, think of the following:
- what important skills do you think are required?
- how could YOU plan for your own job role?
- how does this relate to your own production?
