Using the practical learning activities over the Induction period, the resources on the Teaching Blog
(including exemplars), and the Homework drafts you have received feedback on in the comments
section of your blogs, complete the following tasks for your Assignment P1 of Single Camera
Techniques.
Task A: SCT video tutorial guide
1. Use the homework from week 5 – to write up your worksheetsection on SCTpractical via a
google doc.
2. You must editand exportto Youtube the SCT video you filmed in pairs Week 4 adding Titles
or Youtube Annotations to describe how to film the Technique & explain the purpose/why it
is used
3. You must EMBED each ofthe student’s practical work videos to your blog
4. You must EMBED the Thriller single-camera sequence task you filmed as a group in Week 2
5. You must EMBED the single-camera Webisode you filmed in Week 5
6. Merit: You must then add an audio or blog commentary using the Headsets to explain the
purpose ofeach ofthe techniques in your own words referring to examples from the Videos
you have shot

Task B: Blog Report on Single Camera Techniques
Section 1: Introduction
1. Use your Week 2 worksheetand homework blog postto compare Single Camera with Multi-
camera productions in Film and TV, EMBED Youtube clips to give specific examples of
different Genres that are typically shotin either style and why
2. Discuss the uses, purposes, advantages and disadvantages ofeach.
3. EMBED and your own Single-Camera production to give detailed examples in your
explanation.

Task C: Technical Analysis of SCT: 3 Short Films
1. Use the Week 5 worksheets given to you in class to examine 3 short films and discuss how
they have used the following to create meaning for the audience and explain the effect of:
Genre conventions ofMise En Scene (costume, locations, props)
Lighting & Colours (High Key, Low Key, Naturalistic)
Coverage Shots (Angles, Movement, Depth offield)
Framing and Composition (Rule of 3rds, Depth)
Editing (Continuity Elipsis, 180 deg rule, shotrev shot, match on action or Non-
continuity Jump Cuts, Flashbacks)
Sound (Diegetic, Non Diegetic, Soundtrack, Effects)
2. EMBED the short films in your blog and write a section for each OR record audio commentary
for each section via Soundcloud EMBEDed on your blog with stills from the Short Film
3. Do the above for EACH ofthe 3 Short Films as 3 separate sections
