Researchers have begun to study ethical implications of leadership because of the:
 Growing interest in ethics throughout the field of management
 Past leaders such as Thomas Jefferson, John F Kennedy had ethical shortcomings
 Responsibility of the organisational ethical behaviour is focussed on the leaders
 Treats their followers with fairness
 Provide honest, frequent and accurate information
 Humbleness
 Will be having followers who engage in more organisational citizenship behaviours
and brings problems to their leaders attention
 They can reduce interpersonal conflicts
 They can make the seemingly far fetched become real
 Set high ethical standards and demonstrate them through their behaviour
 Encourage and reward integrity
 Avoid abuses of power
 To convey their beliefs leaders should learn to express their moral convictions
A leadership concept that states that leaders convey values that are other centered
and not self centered and who role model ethical conduct
