I reaserched into what films include production company logos and when they occur in the film so I can get an idea of what I may create for my own film trailer.
2. Why have them?
It is a common convention for film trailers to include their productions companies logo or
animation at some point within the timeline of footage. It Is usually places before any shots are
shown or after, ad the trailer ends.
This can work as an advertisement for the company but also allow the audience to make a
judgment of the quality of the film as they may like other films by the same makers.
I have looked at some examples of different films that include this element so as to help aid me in
my plan to make my own for my film trailer.
3. Forest Gump
If we look at the official trailer for ‘Forest Gump’ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYSnxZKTZzU)
we can see that they start the clip with the standard green screen shown before every Hollywood movie
which states ‘The Following Preview has been approved for all audiences’.
It then , straight after, dissolves into the well known
‘Paramount’ logo which is making a credit to
‘Paramount Communications Company’ which are the
company that produced and distributed the film.
On this occasion it is a simple stationary image however
With more modern films they have become more like
animations.

4. Then at the end of this trailer the title of the film is shown. It
has no connection to the production company but rather the
direct film. It is an essential convention that concludes most
film trailers. The credits are also usually included which state
who has been involved in the production.
5. The production logos, or in this case small animations, occur 30
seconds through the trailer wedged between some footage.
Warner Bros are included as they are the parents company of Castle
Rock Entertainment.
The transition, cross dissolve, between the two logos is an interesting
choice as it more conventional to do a straight cut from footage to
one.
Castle Rock Entertainment is a subsidiary of Warner Bros and produced
The Shawshank Redemption.

6. Like with the majority of trailer, this one end with the films title. It is
helpful not just as an effective conclusion to the clip but also a
reminder to the audience what the film is called as it the one of the
last things they see.
7. Like ‘Forest Gump’ this film trailer also starts with the beginning green screen stating the clip is suitable for
all. This is followed by a quick flash of the Dream Works logo straight after which then changed the the
Universal logo almost immediately. Both Dream Work Pictures and Universal Pictures produced and
distributed the film.

9. My Logo
I plan to create my own film production logo to show at the end of my film trailer to add a more
professional element to it. I hope to create it myself in Adobe after effects and then import it
into Adobe Premier Pro.
I will sketch some ideas out first before I begin to create it and will need to research on creating
the piece of animation as I have never used After Effects before.
I don’t want it to be too complicated but more simple and effective – just so I don’t have to use
an existing production companies as it retracts the creation of my own film trailer.
