2. Bar Code and Price
This is a necessity for any
magazines which provides the price
for the customer to see along with
the ability to pay for it – the bar
code.
Masthead
One of the most iconic logos related to
film due to this magazine reviewing
Hollywood blockbusters. It’s empowering
red colour and capital letters expose
authority and highlight the central main
text one every issue of the magazine
stating it’s brand.
Main Image
An image of Jonny Depp (in the
character of Jack Sparrow) fills
the whole page. The subject has
been photographed with
separation to the background –
possibly a green screen behind
– which allows the focus to been
the actor/model. The eye
contact from the subject is
striking and attracts audience
attention very quickly.
Banner
Filling the space above the masthead
with a statement to entice the audience.
The use of alternative colours and
exclamation mark makes it stand out
dynamically.

These titles, positioned to the right

Masthead
White masthead has been chosen to be
visible against the blue background. It
also fits into the house colours so does not
show chaos.
Main Image
This magazine also
included eye contact
with the subject,
Robert Downey Jr, as
well as a cut out of him
pasted onto a similar
theme background to
make the min image
look more photographic
and appealing. The
model has been centred
into the middle third of
the magazine leaving
space for lover lines
beside it.
Secondary Images
These images give a small visual
preview of the inside of this
issue of ‘Total’ film.
Website
A website is often included in
modern magazines as they are
the main digital distribution of
their magazine – often including
exclusive videos and extra
material.

Masthead
Even the masthead for this issue has been
designed in the style of the film – having a
blue neon glow bordering the 3D text.
Main Image
Unlike the other main images in
the previous magazines here they
have used three subjects in a
symmetrical form along with full
length body shots of the actors.
This gives almost a 3D
impression and space near their
feet for the cover lines. The
interaction between the main
subject and the headline is very
creative and blurs the barrier of
layers within the editing process.

the use of colours on the
previous magazines.
