The document discusses the use of various media technologies across the four stages of research, planning, production, and evaluation. In the research stage, the author used blogs, YouTube, PowerPoint, Adobe Premier Pro, DSLR camera, and Survey Monkey to gather information. Planning utilized blogs, PowerPoint, Facebook Messenger, email, Google, and Photoshop. Production featured the DSLR, Facebook Messenger, overhead projector, YouTube, Adobe Premier Pro, and Photoshop. Evaluation employed blogs, PowerPoint, Adobe Premier Pro, DSLR camera, and SlideShare. The author provides details on how each technology was used at different stages.

We used blogger as a way of tracking and showcasing each stage of the coursework, from initial ideas
to the final completed piece. I used blogger for this because for the AS coursework I used blogger,
which meant that I knew the basics of creating posts and uploading images. I’ve also used blogger as
it’s easy to embed YouTube videos and PowerPoints via SlideShare.

Google is the best search engine I used for finding images for location inspiration, costume ideas, supporting images
and also other bands digipaks and magazine adverts. It made it easy to find websites like blogger (which is part of
google), UkGov, websites which related to our band, and general genre conventions along with researching the 70’s
punk era.
By using YouTube, we could easily watch existing music videos to analyse, draw inspiration and follow conventions.
Also, by using YouTube we could easily upload our videos and then embed them onto our blogs.

Survey Monkey is a website I used for the AS coursework also, as it
allows you to create free surveys online, and then also provides the
analytics for you to look at too. We used it to gather research on our
audience, such like popular music genres, target demographics and
what an audience would expect from a music video and music
packages. The website is simply and easy to use, as well as easy to
distribute and access over social medias and texts. From being
accessible from smart-phones we could reach a wider audience
from different parts of the country and some international
participants.
Using SlideShare made it easy to put all of our found data, research
and planning (which we put onto PowerPoints) onto our blogs, by
using the HTML to embed the code into a post. I have previously
used HTML coding, so I was easy to follow and understand.

Each of us in the group have social media, which made it easy to reach our friends and peers to gather research,
share our products, gather information, feedback, and easily stay in touch with the group on our production
days. We created a group chat with the production members (us) and the people who appear in our music video.

We had used Premier Pro in our research, production and evaluation stages.
Initially we conducted interviews to gather information on the audience’s
thoughts on music video conventions and what the expect on a digipak. Also,
we created our final music video using Premier, as it is easy to use if you get
the hang of it, and also allows us to export in a high quality to upload to
YouTube. Finally, in the evaluation we conducted more interviews to receive
feedback on our music video and ancillary texts. We used so many videos as it
becomes more engaging with not only the people our product is for, but also
instead of reading so much text on a blog.
On premier, we used many tools like the cutting tool, importing footage,
adding the audio track and adjusting the colours and saturation of the clips.
We used Photoshop mainly for creating our ancillary products, as two of us in
the group also do A Level Photography, we have a better knowledge of the
software, which made sense for us to use something we were familiar with.
However, we also used Photoshop for creating the ‘recording’ and the time-
stamp which appears in the music video. We did this by creating a transparent
background-ed gif which was easily added on top of our footage in the
Premier editing timeline.

I used PowerPoint to upload images and captions, and also to
share data along with analysis all into one place where it can be
uploaded and embedded to be viewed easily and clearly. Like
many people, I have a well working knowledge of how PowerPoint
works, how to add text, images, crop images, add designs,
animations and transitions.
It makes text easy to sort and present in a clear fashion as you can
document lots of information in one place.
