GANT Charts :
by Prof. Gaurang
GANTT Charts :
 As production started then from start to end, we need tools to make smoother process. Gantt chart help to
execute for the same.
 One of the first major application of Gantt chart was during First World War on the initiative of General
William Crozier . The Gang chart was used in USA arsenals during 1918 in the production of naval aircrafts
and other Govt works
 This is also coming in web based format now & it can be used for any timely activity
GANTT Charts Advantage :
Things become clear while using this tool
 Very useful for projects up to 30 activities
 Breakdown the work into specific manageable parts
 Clarity the workflow, sequence and dependencies
Gant Chart Advantage & Limitations :
Limitations :
 Become unwidely more than 30 activities projects
 Only represent part of the cost time and scope
 Do not represent the size of project
 It works as scheduling tool so it will not work good for reporting any deadline fail
 It will not show the exact time to start or end the activities.
Gant Chart Preparation :
 List all the activities ( with timeline , Length of activity time require to complete, activities are parallel or
sequential , dependencies)
 Set up Gantt Charge ( template headings-name of the task, previous activity,duration,july-week2,july-
week3,etc )
 Plot the Graph E.g- Preparing serving an English breakfast in a restaurant.
 Present the analysis (Final version of the Gantt chart, link of sequential activities , colour representation
details, etc.)

NEWS WIRE
Looking to invest for less than a year? Here are your options :
1.Bank Fixed Deposits – This is one of the safest and most popular options among people. With bank FDs, each
depositor in a bank is insured up to a maximum of Rs 1 lakh under the deposit insurance and credit guarantee
corporation (DICGC) rules, for both principal and interest amount. Its online & you can opt for either monthly,
quarterly, half-yearly, yearly or cumulative interest options while putting your money in bank FDs.Currently, the
interest rate offered is around 5.8 to 8 per cent per annum for most tenure up to 1 year and above. An additional
0.5 per cent id offered to senior citizens on their deposits. It is taxed as per his/her income slab. Other than the
regular bank FDs, few banks have come up with a modified version of FDs, which are much more flexible in
nature such as the SBI Flexi deposit scheme, ICICI iWish deposit, and HDFC Dream Deposits.
2.Recurring Deposits – In RD one can invest at a regular interval for a fixed period and receive a lump sum
maturity value. Its online & comes with a tenure of as low as 6 months and then in multiples of 3 months, to up to
10 years. Usually, RD comes with a minimum lock-in period of one month. no interest will be paid to the
depositor in the case of premature closure within a month, it is around 6.5 per cent per annum for most tenures of
12 months and above.TDS will be applicable if the interest earned is more than Rs 10,000 a year, including
interest on bank deposits.
3. Post Office Term Deposits – Post office term deposit comes with the tenure option ranging from 1 to 5 years.
Hence, this is an ideal option for short term investments, where one can invest in the 1-year time deposit. The
current rate of interest rate offered is 6.9 per cent per annum.Interest is calculated quarterly, but payable annually.
The government revises the interest rate every quarter, which is applicable only to fresh investments made in that
quarter of the year. One can make premature withdrawals but after 6 months of opening the account.
4-Fixed Maturity Plans – FMPs are close-ended debt mutual funds and consists of various fixed income instruments
with matching maturities. A fund manager of such investments, invests in instruments in such a way based on the
tenure of the FMP, that all of them mature around the same time. These investments come with a tenure ranging from
1 month to 5 years. As these investments are predominantly debt-oriented, they provide steady returns over a fixed
maturity period, which protects investors from market fluctuations. Even though FMPs are not affected by interest
rate volatility, as the securities are held till maturity, the returns, however, are neither fixed nor assured. The liquidity
option with FMPs is low, even though they are listed on stock exchanges. Hence, experts suggest one should invest in
them only if one is sure to lock-in funds for that duration.
5. Debt mutual funds – Debt funds are for investors who want regular income, but are risk-averse, as this
investment option is less volatile and, hence, are less risky compared to equity funds. Additionally, they also score
higher than equity mutual funds in terms of safety. Hence, if you want to invest in market-linked investments for less
than 1 year, you can choose from either low duration debt fund or money market debt funds.
The low duration fund lets investors invest in Debt and Money Market instruments with a maturity of the underlying
securities between 6 to 12 months. In the case of money market funds, the investments are made into Money Market
instruments with a maturity of the underlying securities up to 1 year.
The returns in debt mutual funds are, however, not assured nor fixed. Currently, investors can earn about 7 to 9 per
cent per annum. The main point is the liquidity of these investments, as with debt funds liquidity is high and units can
be redeemed in a quick time.
How To Make a Sales Pitch ?
The sales pitch is defined as the attempts to negotiate and persuade someone to close the deal, finally leading to the
sale of the product or service. In business terms, a sales pitch is usually the sales presentation designed to convince
someone about a product or a service with the ultimate expected outcome being the sale of that product or service.
What is a Sales Pitch?
A sales pitch is vital to introduce a product or a service to the customers or audience who know nothing about it, or
it is also a detailed description and a presentation for the audience who have already expressed their interest in that
product or service. The sales pitch can be formal or informal depending on the product, the type of industry, the
kind of audience, and the company selling the product or service.
It should have a clear message and should explain to the customer why they should buy this particular product or
service over competitions. Customers these days have access to information at their fingertips, and they can always
go and compare your product or service with the available competitor products and get to know the difference
immediately. The primary thing that sales pitch should address is how good is the product over the competition and
how is it going to be useful for the targeted audience
How to make Sales Pitch?
1. Account Prioritization-The accounts and deals that you’re dealing with should be prioritized according to their
importance.
2. Research-Before pitching the customer, you have to understand
3. Account for all decision-makers-Sometimes the person you are presenting or pitching the idea is not the only
decision-maker but there are other people involved in it who may not be present.
4.Show them the future-these skills of storytelling and including facts in them can drastically improve the chances
of success for the sales pitch.
5. Perception sharing-should be about a specific solution or a product feature that the customer will benefit the most
from and which will solve his problem
7. Hearing and Listening – know the difference-You must listen with an intent to understand rather than hurrying
and replying. Do not think of the sales pitch like a question and answer session rather more like a healthy
conversation or discussion.
8. What next? You should provide him with a call to action, which takes the deal ahead. Even if the customer is not
ready to purchase, make sure that you keep him on the prospect list and move forward with him or follow up with
him after a small pre-defined period.
Example of Sales Pitch :
Following is an example of a Sales Pitch of an insurance company.
“Have you noticed the increasing frequency of car accidents? As per the recent reports by the traffic department,
there are more than 25000 deaths by accident every year, and more than half of them are simply victims who are
neither over-speeding or breaking any traffic law. They are simply at the wrong time and place.
Opt for ABC accidental insurance.
We are not only simple, unique, and affordable, but also we are the safest.
ABC accidental Insurance. Stay Safe.”

Making of the new 21st Century marketer :
What’s needed today in marketing is a greater emphasis on emotional attractiveness which helps create a
relationship with the consumer, and that is based on mutual respect. This will help marketers to develop game-
changing propositions to propel brands into a differentiated space.
As brand communicators we must understand that our consumer goes through reams of branded literature, through
the day and therefore, choosing the right medium, picking an appropriate time and designing the messaging with the
art of simplicity are some of the basic yet very crucial aspects of designing winning marketing strategies. In this
hyper-connected age, consumer insights play a very important role in not just designing strategies but also
understanding what brands should avoid. As brand communicators we must be mindful of the macro trends in terms
of any persistent shift, not just locally but also globally. Keeping track of these trends will translate into our
marketing strategies becoming more infallible, connecting better with the consumers and achieving its end goal
effectively.
 Get smarter
As consumers become more fidgety and impatient, both media and creative strategies have to work smarter to
reach out to them impactfully and effectively.
 Consistency and freshness
Marketing communication needs to be consistent and yet fresh in the rendering to ensure there is brand recall
(that is, there is no brand loss.) And yet new neurons need to be fired in the consumer's brain for the message to be
registered in a hyper-connected and overwhelmed world.
 Rationalize marketing spends: Avoid the shiny-new-toy trap
There is currently a need for marketers to re-look at spends and effectiveness of advertising in different media
including digital and on-ground. There are waves and trends which may not stand the test of RoI (return on
investment) and these need to be rationalized.
 Be wary of force fitting
Don’t be "woke" and force fit "purpose" into marketing communication that has little bearing on the product or
category. Marketers need to be authentic. Social media has ensured that brands are under scrutiny at all times.
Why you need Public relations to build your Brand :
Public relations is about communicating credibly and effectively with your audiences whose opinions and
behaviors can impact your business in the long term. This target audience is not limited to consumers; it also
includes the media and policymakers. If you lead an organization working in the field of electric mobility,
cultivating an image of a thought leader in that field and connecting with your audience is very important to
bolster credibility of your brand.
Building a narrative :
While advertising makes your products familiar, Public Relations exercises help tell the audience the story of
your brand – the origin of the idea, its impact on the society and the vision of its founders. In doing so, PR
exploits the unique angles in your story and help take them to a larger audience creating an awe inspiring image
of your brand. Let’s explain this using an example.
Identify the right channels of communication :
When you have to communicate to your multiple target audience, it becomes essential to identify the right
channels to do so. This is another vital job that PR does for you. It first identifies the target audience, analyzes
their attributes and then identifies the right channels through which communication to them can be directed and
amplified. For example, a brand that talks to women must zoom in on magazines, blogs and websites
addressing women’s issues. Similarly, a brand whose target audience is youth can ignore the importance of
social media channels like Facebook and Twitter at their own peril. PR helps you arrive at these decisions
judiciously.
Communicating in Crisis
Crisis communication has emerged as a critical part of PR, particularly at a time when news spreads across
communication channels like wildfire. Any delay or error in addressing a negative piece of news can dent your brand
reputation seriously. When utilized effectively, PR not only helps manage public perception in times of crisis, it also
helps limit the damage caused by a negative episode on your brand’s image in the long term.
The B2B Platform Revolution :
Platform providers now are coming for the business market, and B2B business leaders need to be ready.
Consider the following scenarios: Do you have a strategy for when your peers are slashing their supply chain
costs by letting Amazon or Alibaba run their operations? How about if Facebook and Google offer your
competitors data-driven marketing strategies to win over your clients? Crucially, do you know how to use
outside platforms to better serve your clients, without letting the platform provider own the relationship?
These emerging business platforms aren’t just a threat. They also offer remarkable services to boost growth and
cut costs — if you approach them with the right strategy.
Growth and stickiness
Just as they did for the consumer market, digital platform providers are rolling out “sticky” ecosystems. One
service builds on another, creating a network effect that encourages businesses and consumers to buy more
services in the same place.
Take Amazon, for example. Amazon Web Services started by offering cloud infrastructure, then went on to
provide cyber-security and other cloud-based enterprise services to businesses on that cloud. It’s now going
further, giving clients the option to use the same machine learning technology that Amazon uses to personalize
its product offerings and marketing The growth in B2B platforms is just beginning. There’s no reason Amazon
and Alibaba, for instance, can’t offer logistics management to businesses of every kind, just as they already do
for retailers. And to make sure that they use this boom in business platforms to their benefit, every B2B
company must act now. These five steps are a good place for you to start.
Monitor the business services that platform companies are offering or will offer your sector. Many will represent
opportunities to cut costs and grow markets. Watch the strategy of the platform companies themselves.
Increase agility of your operations in order to seize opportunities and not become too dependent on any single
provider. You probably don’t want a B2B platform provider to own your clients’ data and the customer experience.
5 Technology Tools To Help Your Sales Process :
The best sales professionals and teams understand the sales process begins long before the first meeting with a
prospect. Your success in front of a customer depends on how much time and energy you've invested in your
professional development, your knowledge of the sales process, and your understanding of how human connection is
the key to a new relationship.
1. Manage relationships with a CRM.
The importance of a CRM (Customer Relationship Manager) should come as no surprise to anyone who's been in
sales for long. A good CRM provides invaluable services to a sales team, tracking lead data and organizing
information in a way that can improve the sales cycle.
2. Save time with smarter email outreach.
Email has become such a significant part of our daily life that it warrants a specific focus. Email takes time, and time
is money. If you want to be efficient and effective, you need an email app that helps automate routines and supports
the sales process -- not just a tool that helps schedule emails.
3. Use online apps to build your community-For all the time professionals spend on Instagram and Facebook, they
could be focusing on growing their human network and tapping into the power of online professional networks.
4. Stay up-to-date with Google Alerts-it helps you stay knowledgeable, congratulate your customers or prospects on
good news
5. Always be learning with audiobooks - learn new strategies and techniques, but I also benefit from a well-rounded
knowledge base to inform my conversations. Amazon's Audible holds a firm grip at the top of the audiobooks world,
but don't forget about the free resources at your library. Overdrive serves libraries all over the map, delivering free
audiobooks to anyone with a library card
Coronavirus: digital industry to flip to sd from hd on work-from-home
surge :
Data consumption the past few days has gone up by 15-20% and consumption of high definition data
requires 6-7 times higher bandwidth
Amid the surge in demand for internet services in the backdrop of coronavirus spread and increase in work-from-
home by companies, the digital industry has decided to “temporarily” offer only Standard Definition (SD)
streaming services, until April 14.
Sources said that data consumption the past few days has gone up by 15-20 per cent and consumption of HD (high
definition) data requires 6-7 times higher bandwidth. The decision was taken at a meeting on Tuesday by Uday
Shankar, Chairman, Star & Disney India, and attended by senior leaders from digital industry.
The digital industry has decided to act immediately in the larger national and consumer interest and to ensure the
robustness of the cellular network, an official statement said.
The move comes looking at the potential impact on the cellular network infrastructure caused by unprecedented
surge in mobile internet consumption, as people are staying at their homes responding to Prime Minister’s call for
social distancing & now a total lockdown.
The companies are of the view that Tuesday night’s call by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for social distancing and
now a total lockdown has led to people staying at home, causing an unprecedented surge in mobile internet
consumption. As a result, the government and the telecom operators are concerned about its potential impact on the
cellular network infrastructure.
In order to achieve this, a meeting was organized on Tuesday by Uday Shankar, Chairman, Star & Disney India, with
key stakeholders of the digital industry.
The meeting, held virtually, was attended by NP Singh (Sony), Sanjay Gupta (Google), Ajit Mohan (Facebook),
Sudhanshu Vats (Viacom18), Gaurav Gandhi (Amazon Prime Video), Punit Goenka (Zee), Nikhil Gandhi (Tiktok),
Ambika Khurana (Netflix), Karan Bedi (MX Player) and Varun Narang (Hotstar).
The digital industry has decided to act immediately in the larger national and consumer interest and to ensure the
robustness of the cellular network.
It was unanimously agreed that as an exceptional measure, all companies will immediately adopt measures, including
temporarily defaulting HD and ultra-HD streaming to SD content or offering only SD content, at bitrates no higher
than 480p on cellular networks.
480p is the shorthand name for a family of video display resolutions and is mainly used for many early plasma
televisions.
These voluntary measures will be in effect until April 14. All participants are immediately taking measures.
The impact of covid19 on travel marketing :
The impact of covid19 on travel marketing
Data provided by Google’s Insight team has revealed that search queries relating to Coronavirus have
reached an all-time high, and while death rates are relatively lower, online interest in COVID19 is
surpassing that of other major global health warnings, including Swine Flu, Ebola and Zika Virus.
Related search queries are also breaking record monthly rates of interests with searches for respirator
masks, hand sanitiser and dust masks through the roof. As the government advises against all but essential
travel to countries like Italy, the virus looks set to have a big impact on the travel industry, with thousands of
flights around the world already cancelled, but what impact will this have on travel marketing?
How are travellers reacting?
With many supermarkets struggling to cope with the demand for items like hand sanitizer and toilet roll,
the travel sector is also starting to see the impact the virus is having on the industry. Research has revealed
that more than a third (37%) are worried about catching COVID19 when travelling, and nearly half (48%) are
hesitant to book a new trip. 15% of Brits admit to avoiding cruise ships while a further 13% are choosing to
avoid planes.
Despite the short-term worries of British holidaymakers, almost three quarters (74%) think they’ll be
able to travel as usual again by summer, and 29% are planning to book a European trip within the next couple
of months.
“We’ve seen the virus start to affect more than just holidays”
Commenting on how brands are reacting to the pandemic, Ed Blakeway, head of display, Video & Social at marketing
agency, Journey Further, said: “We work with a number of different clients across the travel industry and it’s been
very interesting to see the effect COVID-19 has had. In some cases, where brands are offering holidays in areas
regarded as higher risk, such as China or Italy, PPC and programmatic activity has been paused completely while
we’ve heard of other brands experiencing downturns in online revenue.
“Flexible holiday options”
“Many brands are looking to promote more flexible holiday options, for example, Kuoni are pushing their ‘flex
offering’, which allows travelers to change their holiday up to a week before travelling with no fee, and Manchester
Airport are offering free cancellation options for anyone who books parking with them, so we could start to see travel
brands offering more options like this if the virus continues to spread.
As the spread continues, we’ve seen the virus start to affect more than just holidays, with sporting fixtures and music
festivals postponed, which could impact sponsorships. It will be interesting to see how marketers across all industries
continue to adapt in the coming weeks.”

  • 33. Looking to invest for less than a year? Here are your options : 1.Bank Fixed Deposits – This is one of the safest and most popular options among people. With bank FDs, each depositor in a bank is insured up to a maximum of Rs 1 lakh under the deposit insurance and credit guarantee corporation (DICGC) rules, for both principal and interest amount. Its online & you can opt for either monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, yearly or cumulative interest options while putting your money in bank FDs.Currently, the interest rate offered is around 5.8 to 8 per cent per annum for most tenure up to 1 year and above. An additional 0.5 per cent id offered to senior citizens on their deposits. It is taxed as per his/her income slab. Other than the regular bank FDs, few banks have come up with a modified version of FDs, which are much more flexible in nature such as the SBI Flexi deposit scheme, ICICI iWish deposit, and HDFC Dream Deposits. 2.Recurring Deposits – In RD one can invest at a regular interval for a fixed period and receive a lump sum maturity value. Its online & comes with a tenure of as low as 6 months and then in multiples of 3 months, to up to 10 years. Usually, RD comes with a minimum lock-in period of one month. no interest will be paid to the depositor in the case of premature closure within a month, it is around 6.5 per cent per annum for most tenures of 12 months and above.TDS will be applicable if the interest earned is more than Rs 10,000 a year, including interest on bank deposits. 3. Post Office Term Deposits – Post office term deposit comes with the tenure option ranging from 1 to 5 years. Hence, this is an ideal option for short term investments, where one can invest in the 1-year time deposit. The current rate of interest rate offered is 6.9 per cent per annum.Interest is calculated quarterly, but payable annually. The government revises the interest rate every quarter, which is applicable only to fresh investments made in that quarter of the year. One can make premature withdrawals but after 6 months of opening the account.
  • 34. 4-Fixed Maturity Plans – FMPs are close-ended debt mutual funds and consists of various fixed income instruments with matching maturities. A fund manager of such investments, invests in instruments in such a way based on the tenure of the FMP, that all of them mature around the same time. These investments come with a tenure ranging from 1 month to 5 years. As these investments are predominantly debt-oriented, they provide steady returns over a fixed maturity period, which protects investors from market fluctuations. Even though FMPs are not affected by interest rate volatility, as the securities are held till maturity, the returns, however, are neither fixed nor assured. The liquidity option with FMPs is low, even though they are listed on stock exchanges. Hence, experts suggest one should invest in them only if one is sure to lock-in funds for that duration. 5. Debt mutual funds – Debt funds are for investors who want regular income, but are risk-averse, as this investment option is less volatile and, hence, are less risky compared to equity funds. Additionally, they also score higher than equity mutual funds in terms of safety. Hence, if you want to invest in market-linked investments for less than 1 year, you can choose from either low duration debt fund or money market debt funds. The low duration fund lets investors invest in Debt and Money Market instruments with a maturity of the underlying securities between 6 to 12 months. In the case of money market funds, the investments are made into Money Market instruments with a maturity of the underlying securities up to 1 year. The returns in debt mutual funds are, however, not assured nor fixed. Currently, investors can earn about 7 to 9 per cent per annum. The main point is the liquidity of these investments, as with debt funds liquidity is high and units can be redeemed in a quick time.
  • 35. How To Make a Sales Pitch ? The sales pitch is defined as the attempts to negotiate and persuade someone to close the deal, finally leading to the sale of the product or service. In business terms, a sales pitch is usually the sales presentation designed to convince someone about a product or a service with the ultimate expected outcome being the sale of that product or service. What is a Sales Pitch? A sales pitch is vital to introduce a product or a service to the customers or audience who know nothing about it, or it is also a detailed description and a presentation for the audience who have already expressed their interest in that product or service. The sales pitch can be formal or informal depending on the product, the type of industry, the kind of audience, and the company selling the product or service. It should have a clear message and should explain to the customer why they should buy this particular product or service over competitions. Customers these days have access to information at their fingertips, and they can always go and compare your product or service with the available competitor products and get to know the difference immediately. Hearing and Listening – know the difference-You must listen with an intent to understand rather than hurrying and replying. Do not think of the sales pitch like a question and answer session rather more like a healthy conversation or discussion. 8. What next? • 39. Making of the new 21st Century marketer : What’s needed today in marketing is a greater emphasis on emotional attractiveness which helps create a relationship with the consumer, and that is based on mutual respect. This will help marketers to develop game- changing propositions to propel brands into a differentiated space. As brand communicators we must understand that our consumer goes through reams of branded literature, through the day and therefore, choosing the right medium, picking an appropriate time and designing the messaging with the art of simplicity are some of the basic yet very crucial aspects of designing winning marketing strategies. In this hyper-connected age, consumer insights play a very important role in not just designing strategies but also understanding what brands should avoid. As brand communicators we must be mindful of the macro trends in terms of any persistent shift, not just locally but also globally. Keeping track of these trends will translate into our marketing strategies becoming more infallible, connecting better with the consumers and achieving its end goal effectively.
  • 40.  Get smarter As consumers become more fidgety and impatient, both media and creative strategies have to work smarter to reach out to them impactfully and effectively.  Consistency and freshness Marketing communication needs to be consistent and yet fresh in the rendering to ensure there is brand recall (that is, there is no brand loss.) And yet new neurons need to be fired in the consumer's brain for the message to be registered in a hyper-connected and overwhelmed world.  Rationalize marketing spends: Avoid the shiny-new-toy trap There is currently a need for marketers to re-look at spends and effectiveness of advertising in different media including digital and on-ground. There are waves and trends which may not stand the test of RoI (return on investment) and these need to be rationalized.  Be wary of force fitting Don’t be "woke" and force fit "purpose" into marketing communication that has little bearing on the product or category. Marketers need to be authentic. Social media has ensured that brands are under scrutiny at all times.
  • 41. Why you need Public relations to build your Brand : Public relations is about communicating credibly and effectively with your audiences whose opinions and behaviors can impact your business in the long term. This target audience is not limited to consumers; it also includes the media and policymakers. If you lead an organization working in the field of electric mobility, cultivating an image of a thought leader in that field and connecting with your audience is very important to bolster credibility of your brand. Building a narrative : While advertising makes your products familiar, Public Relations exercises help tell the audience the story of your brand – the origin of the idea, its impact on the society and the vision of its founders. In doing so, PR exploits the unique angles in your story and help take them to a larger audience creating an awe inspiring image of your brand. Let’s explain this using an example. Identify the right channels of communication : When you have to communicate to your multiple target audience, it becomes essential to identify the right channels to do so. This is another vital job that PR does for you. It first identifies the target audience, analyzes their attributes and then identifies the right channels through which communication to them can be directed and amplified. For example, a brand that talks to women must zoom in on magazines, blogs and websites addressing women’s issues. Similarly, a brand whose target audience is youth can ignore the importance of social media channels like Facebook and Twitter at their own peril. PR helps you arrive at these decisions judiciously.
  • 42. Communicating in Crisis Crisis communication has emerged as a critical part of PR, particularly at a time when news spreads across communication channels like wildfire. Any delay or error in addressing a negative piece of news can dent your brand reputation seriously. When utilized effectively, PR not only helps manage public perception in times of crisis, it also helps limit the damage caused by a negative episode on your brand’s image in the long term.
  • 43. The B2B Platform Revolution : Platform providers now are coming for the business market, and B2B business leaders need to be ready. Consider the following scenarios: Do you have a strategy for when your peers are slashing their supply chain costs by letting Amazon or Alibaba run their operations? How about if Facebook and Google offer your competitors data-driven marketing strategies to win over your clients? Crucially, do you know how to use outside platforms to better serve your clients, without letting the platform provider own the relationship? These emerging business platforms aren’t just a threat. They also offer remarkable services to boost growth and cut costs — if you approach them with the right strategy. Growth and stickiness Just as they did for the consumer market, digital platform providers are rolling out “sticky” ecosystems. One service builds on another, creating a network effect that encourages businesses and consumers to buy more services in the same place. Take Amazon, for example. Amazon Web Services started by offering cloud infrastructure, then went on to provide cyber-security and other cloud-based enterprise services to businesses on that cloud. It’s now going further, giving clients the option to use the same machine learning technology that Amazon uses to personalize its product offerings and marketing The growth in B2B platforms is just beginning. There’s no reason Amazon and Alibaba, for instance, can’t offer logistics management to businesses of every kind, just as they already do for retailers. And to make sure that they use this boom in business platforms to their benefit, every B2B company must act now. These five steps are a good place for you to start.
  • 44. Monitor the business services that platform companies are offering or will offer your sector. Many will represent opportunities to cut costs and grow markets. Watch the strategy of the platform companies themselves. Increase agility of your operations in order to seize opportunities and not become too dependent on any single provider. You probably don’t want a B2B platform provider to own your clients’ data and the customer experience.

Sources said that data consumption the past few days has gone up by 15-20 per cent and consumption of HD (high definition) data requires 6-7 times higher bandwidth. • 47. The companies are of the view that Tuesday night’s call by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for social distancing and now a total lockdown has led to people staying at home, causing an unprecedented surge in mobile internet consumption. In order to achieve this, a meeting was organized on Tuesday by Uday Shankar, Chairman, Star & Disney India, with key stakeholders of the digital industry. The meeting, held virtually, was attended by NP Singh (Sony), Sanjay Gupta (Google), Ajit Mohan (Facebook), Sudhanshu Vats (Viacom18), Gaurav Gandhi (Amazon Prime Video), Punit Goenka (Zee), Nikhil Gandhi (Tiktok), Ambika Khurana (Netflix), Karan Bedi (MX Player) and Varun Narang (Hotstar). • 48. The impact of covid19 on travel marketing : The impact of covid19 on travel marketing Data provided by Google’s Insight team has revealed that search queries relating to Coronavirus have reached an all-time high, and while death rates are relatively lower, online interest in COVID19 is surpassing that of other major global health warnings, including Swine Flu, Ebola and Zika Virus. Related search queries are also breaking record monthly rates of interests with searches for respirator masks, hand sanitiser and dust masks through the roof. As the government advises against all but essential travel to countries like Italy, the virus looks set to have a big impact on the travel industry, with thousands of flights around the world already cancelled, but what impact will this have on travel marketing? How are travellers reacting? With many supermarkets struggling to cope with the demand for items like hand sanitizer and toilet roll, the travel sector is also starting to see the impact the virus is having on the industry. Research has revealed that more than a third (37%) are worried about catching COVID19 when travelling, and nearly half (48%) are hesitant to book a new trip. 15% of Brits admit to avoiding cruise ships while a further 13% are choosing to avoid planes. Despite the short-term worries of British holidaymakers, almost three quarters (74%) think they’ll be able to travel as usual again by summer, and 29% are planning to book a European trip within the next couple of months.
  • 49. “We’ve seen the virus start to affect more than just holidays” Commenting on how brands are reacting to the pandemic, Ed Blakeway, head of display, Video & Social at marketing agency, Journey Further, said: “We work with a number of different clients across the travel industry and it’s been very interesting to see the effect COVID-19 has had. In some cases, where brands are offering holidays in areas regarded as higher risk, such as China or Italy, PPC and programmatic activity has been paused completely while we’ve heard of other brands experiencing downturns in online revenue. “Flexible holiday options” “Many brands are looking to promote more flexible holiday options, for example, Kuoni are pushing their ‘flex offering’, which allows travelers to change their holiday up to a week before travelling with no fee, and Manchester Airport are offering free cancellation options for anyone who books parking with them, so we could start to see travel brands offering more options like this if the virus continues to spread. As the spread continues, we’ve seen the virus start to affect more than just holidays, with sporting fixtures and music festivals postponed, which could impact sponsorships. It will be interesting to see how marketers across all industries continue to adapt in the coming weeks.”
