• The topic of our documentary is violent video games and
the negative effect it has on young people aged between
12-18
• Our target audience are also people aged between 12-18 as
these are the people the subject effects and will be most
interested in the documentary. There is also a large
percentage of males this age that play video games
meaning there is a direct link between them and our
documentary.
• We believe through research that we have conducted that
our target audience already has a good understanding of
the subject and we will be keeping the documentary quite
formal.

This is a typical portfolio of a possible target audience member of our documentary.
We will be trying to make the documentary have a direct approach and link to our
target audience and therefore listing interests, hobbies etc. below allows to
understand how we can make the documentary both enjoyable and have an impact
on the target audience.

4. Documentary Style
• Our Documentary will be done in an
exploratory style.
• We will be using this mode to push through
our strong opinions on the negative effects
violent video games have on young people.
• Our documentary will be very direct and
subjective
5. What Channel
• We will aim to broadcast our documentary on either Channel 4 or
BBC three at around a time of 8:00pm
• Our target audience are known to watch TV programs on these two
channels, therefore broadcasting on these channels will appeal to
our target audience as they are used to the type and style of TV
programs on these channels.
• We are also aiming to broadcast the documentary at these times as
through our research we found that are target audience watches
the most TV at this time. This is because they are back from
school/college and are ready to “unwind” whilst watching TV
• Airing the documentary at this time will also mean its before the
watershed; this means that any bad language will have to be
censored however this can have the effective of making the bad
language seem more dramatic and grab the attention of our target
audience.
6. Content
• To understand the negative effects violent video games have on
young people will we conduct several expert interviews. This will
help show the target audience the true and dangerous effects of
violent video games.
• We will also undertake several vox pops interviews. This will help
show the general opinion of the public and target audience and can
be used to contrast against the experts.
• We hope to include background footage of violent video games to
show the audience the what games we are talking about.
• We also hope to include archive footage from YouTube and other
internet sites of young people getting annoyed and “freaking out”
over video games. This will show the damaging effects video games
have on young people.
7. Resources
• Camera, Tripod, Microphone, headphone will
all be required for the documentary.
• We will need access to an iMac with software
such as Adobe Premiere to edit our footage.
We may also need Adobe Photoshop and
InDesign to create our double page spread
• We will also use software such as GarageBand
to create music for our documentary as well
as for our radio trailer.
