2. Distribution stores
• My magazine would be sold in stores such as
HMV simply because they specialise in the music
industry. Stores such as WHSmith would also be
suitable because they include a music magazine
section. However because my magazine is
mainstream pop the magazine can be distributed
in large supermarkets such a Tesco and Asda
which will make it convenient for buyers because
they can buy the magazine whilst doing their
weekly shopping. This increases the magazines
availability.
3. Distribution
• My magazine would also be available online
which is essential with the growing technology. It
would also be available to download at a
reasonable price on androids or portable devices.
This would be useful in distributing my magazine
because my target audience have increased their
usage of such devices so it will make it easier for
them to follow/subscribe the magazine. It also
gives them choice as a consumer to whether they
want to buy a hard copy or an online version.
4. Distribution
• My magazine was inspired by an album so to
increase its popularity and distribution I would
consider making an album in titled ‘girls in
pop’. This will allow the 2 to interlink for
example if fans like the album they are more
likely to follow the magazine.
5. Similar magazines
• Top of the pops is a magazine published by the BBC
magazines. BBC magazines publishes over 50 popular
consumer titles. This includes magazines such as BBC music
along with top of the pops. This shows that the magazine
publisher is varied in the genre type and would consider
publishing my magazine. BBC magazine could also
advertise/feature girls in pop in top of the pops increasing its
awareness and fan base. They can also help my magazine
improve because they sell a similar magazine so they know
what consumers want and what will or wont work .
• Due to the fact that top of the pops and girls in pop focus on
the same genre BBC magazine might not want to publicise
my magazine because they will feel as if they are being
repetitive so launching my magazine may not benefit them.
6. Magazine publisher
• IPC media are the UK’s leading consumer magazine
publisher over 60 popular brands. This includes Uncut,
NME, TV times etc. The target audience for IPC are the
mass market, men and women.
• IPC would be suitable for my magazine because they
are really popular/ publish popular magazines so their
brand is well entrusted therefore it will widely promote
the magazine. My magazine will also be a different
genre they already publish so my magazine may be
considered to be a gap within their sales. They can also
look at ways to improve my magazine.
7. My chosen publisher
• I think I'm going to use IPC media because it is
a popular magazine publisher so it is trusted
by consumers and it will effectively distribute
the magazine. Because IPC media is a leading
UK publisher they will know what works well
and what doesn’t.
