5. He wanted to build a toy
company from scratch.
Brian had years of
product development
experience, and a very
ambitious go-to-market
strategy.
6. He had developed a
large pipeline of
products, and this
logo and his company
name were his only
marketing assets.
7. The first product lines would be the children’s
alarm clocks seen below.
8. The first product lines would be the children’s
alarm clocks seen below. While the plan was to
start with children’s products, the plan was to
offer adult consumer electronics as well.
9. We began the project with over a dozen
store visits and many customer intercepts
at retailers that he hoped to sell into.
10. The first round of
design was focused on
branding, and we
delivered 5 different
concepts, as you’ll see
in the following slides.

16. Brian ultimately decided on
the “Retro” concept seen
below, but he wanted to keep
his existing brand mark.
17. So we cleaned it up for him, and
spun out the color palette for both
the children’s and adult lines.
18. And from there, we delivered
many concepts for the first
product to be launched:
the rocket ship alarm clock.
19. After about 8 rounds
of design, we got to
a final package
design concept. Here
is a look at the
dieline – playful and
irreverent, yet very
unique for sure.
20. We also created a
dynamic custom
illustration for the
side of the package
(seen here).
