Wildern Teachmeets 
Innovations in professional learning
It’s learning but not as 
we know it! 
• Teachmeets are informal twilight gatherings 
of teachers 
• Attendees come simply to listen or ideally to 
share an idea in either a nano or micro slot 
of 3 or 7 minutes 
• Based on sharing ideas in a relaxed setting 
out of school hours
#TeachmeetWave 
• Held in our LRC - comfy sofas and beanbags 
• Ask contributors for a title - created a PPT 
with this info to help presenter transitions 
• Uploaded info to teachmeet website and 
received sponsorship and prize donations 
• Used Twitter to promote before and share on 
the night 
• Spent £50 on refreshments/snacks
Outcomes 
• Staff who have never contributed during 
school CPD events came and shared 
• People travelled from afar to get to us 
(Newbury & Salisbury) 
• Ideas and resources were trialed & 
disseminated by attendees 
• Colleagues felt they had ‘missed out’ by not 
attending
What did we learn? 
• We like learning in different places, styles 
and times 
• Laughter is a major ingredient and a by-product 
• Have somewhere to go onto in order to 
carry on the dialogue 
• Invite all - cross phase

  • 2. It’s learning but not as we know it! • Teachmeets are informal twilight gatherings of teachers • Attendees come simply to listen or ideally to share an idea in either a nano or micro slot of 3 or 7 minutes • Based on sharing ideas in a relaxed setting out of school hours
  • 3. #TeachmeetWave • Held in our LRC - comfy sofas and beanbags • Ask contributors for a title - created a PPT with this info to help presenter transitions • Uploaded info to teachmeet website and received sponsorship and prize donations • Used Twitter to promote before and share on the night • Spent £50 on refreshments/snacks
  • 4. Outcomes • Staff who have never contributed during school CPD events came and shared • People travelled from afar to get to us (Newbury & Salisbury) • Ideas and resources were trialed & disseminated by attendees • Colleagues felt they had ‘missed out’ by not attending
  • 5. What did we learn? • We like learning in different places, styles and times • Laughter is a major ingredient and a by-product • Have somewhere to go onto in order to carry on the dialogue • Invite all - cross phase
