Teachmeets are informal gatherings of teachers held outside of school hours where attendees can either listen to ideas or present a short 3 or 7 minute session. The described teachmeet was held in a school's learning resource center with comfortable seating and used social media to promote it. Staff who typically do not present at formal professional development events shared ideas at the teachmeet. Attendees found the teachmeet to be a fun and effective way of sharing and learning from each other in a relaxed environment.

• Teachmeets are informal twilight gatherings
of teachers
• Attendees come simply to listen or ideally to
share an idea in either a nano or micro slot
of 3 or 7 minutes
• Based on sharing ideas in a relaxed setting
out of school hours

3. #TeachmeetWave
• Held in our LRC - comfy sofas and beanbags
• Ask contributors for a title - created a PPT
with this info to help presenter transitions
• Uploaded info to teachmeet website and
received sponsorship and prize donations
• Used Twitter to promote before and share on
the night
• Spent £50 on refreshments/snacks

4. Outcomes
• Staff who have never contributed during
school CPD events came and shared
• People travelled from afar to get to us
(Newbury & Salisbury)
• Ideas and resources were trialed &
disseminated by attendees
• Colleagues felt they had ‘missed out’ by not
attending

• We like learning in different places, styles
and times
• Laughter is a major ingredient and a by-product
• Have somewhere to go onto in order to
carry on the dialogue
