2. Introduction
In this PowerPoint, I will be looking at the different videos/texts that
has influenced our music video, how it has helped us to plan it and how
we have adapted it to fit with our music video and the pop genre.
3. Jackson Pollock
This painter is famous for being expressive and abstract. He is well
known for creating in the style of drip panting. This helped me to
establish the main character (the painter) as well as the scene where
he splattering paint on a canvas to as a way of expressing himself.
4. Yohji Yamamoto
He is a fashion designer who renowned for his unconventional and
avant-garde tailoring. He creates his clothing mainly in black which gave
me the inspiration for the costume of the painter. I wanted an aspect
within the music video to go against the conventions of the pop genre
so I decided to have the main character in all black. It will also connote
that he is depressed and being controlled by his girlfriend.
5. Quentin Tarantino
We decided to use a ‘trunk shot’ in the music video. This a camera
angle from the inside of the boot of the car. This shot will be used
when the painter is taking paint out of the car. We wanted to used this
to show that we have used a wide range of camera angles. The ‘trunk
shot’ is a trade mark of the director Quentin Tarantino and is used in
many of his films such as Pulp Fiction, From Dusk Till Dawn and
Reservoir Dogs.
6. Nicki Minaj
We have decided to use editing from the music video of the song ‘Stupid
Hoe’ by Nicki Minaj. This technique is a very fast cut between scenes. Fast
editing is conventional within the pop genre as it usually goes with the beat.
We will use this editing in our music video when the beat quickly rises, to be
effective and authentic as a pop music video.

7. 1Million Dance Studio
This is a dance studio based in South Korea which has a YouTube
channel displaying their choreography. We used this channel to help
compose our own choreography, which is conventional within pop
music videos. 1Million are known for creating dances for pop songs,
which will fit into our own music video.

8. Conclusion
Studying and gaining influence from videos/texts especially from other
media has given me the base ideas for my music video. Developing on
these with the pop genre and narrative in mind has created the full
plan for my music video. The pop genre can relate to many things from
different media which has benefitted me a lot. Although using
influences is good, I should also come up with original ideas so that my
music video has its own style. I believe that these artists have
influenced because of their contemporary nature. The pop genre is
very mainstream and trendy so being inspired by these modern artists
will help my music video to be popular.
