This document provides an overview of neonatal electrocardiography (EKG or ECG). It discusses the normal waveform and what can be learned from it. It describes the limb and precordial leads used to obtain different views of cardiac electrical activity. It explains the hexaxial and horizontal reference systems used to analyze the QRS and T axes. It provides guidance on evaluating rhythm, heart rate, intervals, and other aspects of the EKG and what abnormalities may indicate. The goal is to give insight into a patient's cardiac pathophysiology through analysis of the EKG tracing.
