Welcome to the “Brain Activity Workshop.” I am Veronica and the purpose of this seminar is to provide parents with information about how to keep your child’s brain active during the summer intercession.
You can find free educational activities and games on-line that is grade appropriate and suitable for all ages. Help support your child’s learning development with these free educational sites, and if you can invest in the InnoTab; it is a great learning tool that features a range of curriculums, and a combination of innovative technology learning programs. Your child can enjoy hours of learning on the internet and or with the new and improved Wi-Fi learning tools and software.
Visit your local library and encourage your child to get a library card. Assist him/her in filling in the information on the application. The Librarian can provide a schedule with activities and events you might want to attend with your child. Ask his/her teacher for speed reading materials and time charts, or create your own, and make it a project with your child. You would be amazed to see your child’s effort to beat the clock potentially to improve his/her time. Free reading material is not only on the internet. Have your kid-cut-out words from newspapers, magazines, cereal boxes, and the list goes on. Create sentences and read them aloud with your child a few time. Then let him/her try to read the sentences by himself/herself. If you already have or planning to purchase the InnoTab, you can open the portal to age appropriate reading activities, games, your child’s favorite animated characters, and Disney scenes with the deluxe e-book which is available for only $14.99.
Create a family activity planner or a calendar. Plan and discuss family activities; your child will learn to prioritize meaningful activities and put them into action. This practice can stimulate the learning process of his/her critical thinking and problem solving.
Visit the Museum, Botanical Gardens, the Zoo and Aquarium, or have your child assemble a kite and watch it soar high in the sky. Document and capture these precious moments with a cam-recorder, phones, or other devices. Create a collage or family day video and share it on the internet with your friends and other family members. You might consider summer learning programs which is available in your neighborhood. Your child can have fun learning to measure recipes and clip coupons from the newspaper advertisements or he/she can cut-out printable coupons from the internet and figure out the savings amount with your assistance and a calculator.
