A. COURSE DESCRIPTION
The given syllabus provides an integrated perspective on quality assurance in healthcare, basic
life support, biomedical waste management, infection control, antibiotic resistance, and
disaster preparedness and management. It is intended to provide students with a

course is designed to cultivate a strong foundation in quality management and patient safety,
preparing students to apply this knowledge effectively in their future careers.
B. COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1. Recall the fundamental principles and concepts of quality assurance and biomedical waste
management in healthcare.
2. Interpret the basic skills required for emergency care and life support, including first aid,
cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and the use of automated external defibrillators.
3. Apply knowledge of evidence-based infection control principles in the prevention and control of
healthcare-associated infections.
4. Distinguish between different types of antibiotic resistance, and evaluate strategies to combat it.
5. Construct a basic emergency and disaster management plan incorporating key response functions
and resource management.

PI 2.2 Collecting the relevant clinical samples along with complete and accurate documentation with
proper safety measures in relation to sample accountability.
