Role and Responsibilities
Senior Instrumentation and Control Engineer (June 2004 ~ to date),
Chashma Power Plant-1, Mianwali, Pakistan.
Supervise all corrective and preventive maintenance activities on I&C related systems/equipments of the plant,
which includes:
 To ensure reliable and efficient performance of I&C related equipments/instruments.
 Preparing master data sheet for Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedule; ensuring safe and efficient
performance of Corrective Maintenance (CM) activities.
 Supervising Plant Shutdown jobs.
 Design, implementation and commissioning new control loops as per plant/system requirements.
 Review of Control logic and algorithm, P&I diagrams, cause and effect analysis, Instrument lists and Flow
charts.
 Technical support for the Instrumentation team; necessary training and the know-how of latest market
trends.
 Experienced in Procurement activities for Spare Management; ensuring minimum Plant Instrumentation
Inventory for Routine, Shutdown and Emergency Maintenance jobs.
 Developing the Procedures for the Operation and Maintenance of different Control and Instrumentation
systems and Equipment.
 Scheduling regular meetings for maintenance Activities.
 Supervising the team of 15 technical personnel for day to day maintenance activities.
 Documentation and control of inventory procurement, release and management.
 Coordinating and liaising with other Divisions including Electrical/Mechanical maintenance divisions for
Scheduling routine and emergency maintenance activities, and with Operation and Technical divisions for
preparing weekly/monthly Reports of corrective and Preventive maintenance activities at the Plant.
 Excellent communication interpersonal skills.
 Preparing Quality plans for the execution of routine and shutdown jobs, technical reports about the incidents,

Technical Skills
About 11 years of experience as an Instrumentation and Control Engineer in efficient and effective maintenance,
commissioning and development of I&C systems in Power Plant and on-site projects; which are summarized
below:
 Design and Commissioning Experience
Designed and implemented Instrumentation and Control system for the HVAC system of newly built Mechanical
Maintenance Workshop (MMW) for routine and Plant shutdown activities, below is the summary of my jobs
during the project:
 In this project, I worked as I&C design and commissioning Engineer of HVAC system.
 Prepared detailed engineering drawings on AutoCAD 2007 (Version 17.0) which helped me to evaluate the
area of the building (Floor space=2708m², Building area=5433 m²) and calculated total cooling load of MMW
(1843kW).
 Worked out for the necessary instrumentation to monitor different process parameters of air ducts, process
piping, Chillers, Air Handling Units (AHU), Air Control Units (ACU).
 Developed HVAC system flow sheet, Flow diagram (FD), PID Instrumentation layout, wiring drawing, building
roof lightning plan using AutoCAD and Office Visio 2007 (Version 12.0).
 Inspected equipment/instruments before commissioning.
 I have used MATLAB 7.1 (R14SP3) programming technique to analyze over all behavior of designed control
system.
 Developed a mechanism to handle the time constraint, ensuring that project should be completed in time and
successful as well.
 Maintenance Experience
 Responsible Engineer for smooth working of DCS (SUPMAX 800) based Electro-Hydraulic system (DEH) of
three Cylinder 325MWe Turbine, (Model # HN325-5.34; Shanghai Turbine Company) for Regulating four
Governor Valves (GVs), two Main Stop Valves (MSV), four Reheat Stop Valves (RSV) and four Main Intercept
Valves (MIV) for Moisture Separator and Re-heater.
 Bentley Nevada 3500 Turbine Supervisory Instrumentation (TSI) for measuring (Phase, Acceleration,
Eccentricity, Differential Expansion, Thrust Position, Velocity, Vibration…)
 All other instrumentation of Turbine Auxiliaries including Moisture Separator and Re-heater system, Steam
Water system of De-Aerator and its Pressure and Level Control system, Steam Dump system, Turbine Steam
Extraction System, Turbine Lubrication system, Condensate Vacuum System, Electro Hydraulic Oil circuit,
Lubrication oil circuit etc.
 Configuration and fault diagnosis of DCS (PCS 7, V 6.0 Siemens, Centum CS3000 Yokogawa, SUPMAX 800,
SUPCON for HVAC systems) and in PLCs (Siemens Simatic S7 200, 300, 400).
 Routine inspection of I/O Cabinets, Engineering Operating Work-Station, Protocols, Power supply,
connectors, Data Highway for DCS based systems.
 Hydraulic ON/OFF two Main Steam Isolation valves (MSIV) and two Main Feed Water Isolation Valves (MFIV),
Pneumatic Regulating Main and By-pass Feed Water Valves, Emergency Steam relief valves; including related
instrumentation of above vales i.e. Solenoids (ASCO), I/P converter, Booster Relay, Pressure Switches (United
Electrical UE, UEDA), Flow switches (SOR) etc.
 Chiller's Instrumentation; Compression type 02 Chillers (LG Korea) and 04 Absorption Type Chillers (Two-
stage Lithium Bromide).
 Periodic Functional checking of Air-compressors/Emergency Compressors and Boiler Related
Instrumentation; three element Boiler Pressure and Level control system.
 Configuration of PID controllers (Chino, KMP (Programmable), KMS (Fixed programmed) etc.
 Checking and calibration of Pressure reducing valves, Manual valves and Pneumatic Actuators and valve
Positioners.
 Maintenance and calibration of all types of Level, Flow, Pressure (Emerson, Rosemount, Barton Model#752
etc.) Humidity Transmitters, pH meters, Conductivity meters.
 Checking, set-point verification and tripping mechanism of Limit switches, Level, Pressure, Temperature and
Flow Switches.
 Checking and loop calibration of RTDs (WZP Series Pt100 Type), Thermocouples (J, K-type).
 Participated in the team responsible of removal of old and installation of new Chillers at the plant.
