10. #1 The SDGs are a different game
◦ “Governments alone won’t be able to
deliver the SDGs. We need to work with
the private sector, with academia, with
social organizations.“
#2 It is early in the game, but a
whole year already went by
◦ Innovations brought by early movers such
as Colombia and Panamá.
#3 Users and producers of
information: who takes the lead?
◦ Due to increase coordination challenges,
SDG dashboards are moving towards
center-of-government and inter-sectorial
bodies.

#4 Inputs and outputs: what info to
track?
#5 Different tasks in mainstreaming,
coordinating, monitoring & E: Who
need to do what and when?
◦ Leverage all available data, big and small,
statistical and administrative.
◦ Timing of data is critical.
#6 Sequencing, timing and a sense of
urgency: what to do first?
◦ What is currently being done that contributes to
the SDGs
◦ Then, what needs improvement
◦ And then, what needs new programming

SDGs, Goal 16, Target 16.6:
Develop effective, accountable and
transparent institutions at all levels
About 15,000 public officials
in Latin America use SIGOB methods
and systems in their regular work.
Of the institutions in LAC that
have worked with UNDP-SIGOB,
70% of the systems implemented
in the last 9 years remain active.
45%
have engaged SIGOB more than
once.
Analysis of cumulative results up to 2014
What we do in practice:
1. Problem-driven process-oriented
interventions in government institutions
2. To identify e implement
improvements in work processes that
are feasible and within the rule of law,
that improve performance, consistency
and transparency.
3. Processes and information tools to
develop new routines across
networks of public officials
4. Ours is a fast-track and incremental
approach and we use IT tools to make
change sustainable.
