2. My favourite video from the A2 2013 videos was group 21’s because I found
it looked the most like a music video. All through the video the lip
syncing is perfect in which is a key element in making it look like a music
video. I loved their use of an animation which followed the outline of the
artist and actors because it made the video look more creative. Group 21
also used 5 or more locations in their video which I think is essential in
creating a good music video because many good videos go to multiple
locations. The narrative within the video also made it more interesting to
watch because it kept the viewer entertained. About 5 base tracks were
used within this video and they used a new location with every verse this
was very effective. They also followed some of the regular conventions of a
music video like having dancing, although the dancing wasn’t perfect it
was clear they had thought carefully of a routine. Another thing I liked
about this video was the editing it had been edited well to the beat of the
song and shots often changed faster when the song increased in speed.
The large amount of variation in the shot types is also element which I
admired about this video.
3. These are example of three
different locations used within the
video. The first two are base tracks .
This is the cartoon
animation which I
liked.
This is where the artist and
back up dancers do their
dance routine.
4. When watching group 3’s music video all the elements looked very
appropriate had the feel of a music video. The camera movement
was controlled nicely and the movement worked within the video.
They had varied chorus verse shots which made it particularly clear
which part of the song we were viewing at the time. I enjoyed their
use of effects and transitions in the video in particular when they
threw the leaves. Group 3 also had good variation in their shot
distances, the different backgrounds make it engaging to watch; I
really liked the graffiti background. The establishing shots in this
video fit well in showing the location, they manage to fit 9 shots
into the first 18 seconds of the video. As well as having great
backgrounds the clothing adds to the impressive mise-en-scene by
contrasting the bright background with dark coloured clothing.
However the down side to this video was their overuse of the
graffiti background and the overuse of close ups to the: lips,
keyboard and flame.
5. This is one of the establishing shots
which I thought were good at showing
location and variation in their shot types.
I liked the way they used special
effects to bring the leaves back
after she throws them this is very
effective.
These shots were the ones which
were repeated too much.
