3. I had a strong ide of what I wanted from my music video after listening to the song I chose as
well as looking at other music videos which conformed to the codes and conventions of the
Indie Folk genre that my chosen song was in; especially those of passenger
However to get the most authentic outcome possible we did research into existing music videos
to understand the codes and conventions of this media product. For this evaluation we have
taken two example videos.
passangers music video for their song “keep on walking” is what I based my music video on, it
follows the singer from the same mid shot I used moving from one place to another.
And Vance Joys music video of ‘Im with You’
5. The shots below are my music video shots as well as shots taken from the two example music videos,
showing clearly how our video follows the conventions of indie folk music videos we have reseached.
The use of mid to close range shots picturing the artist singing alone. i employed this stereotypical
mis en scene and imagery frequently throughout my video, whilst still maintaining a level of
originality.

6. This shows how i followed conventional shot types in my video, for
instance mid shots of the singer, cropped close ups and shallow
depth of field
7. This shows the use of a sepia esc colour tone which is what I ended up
conforming to in my music video, this was achieved by adding the sepia filter to
my music video in post production as well as trying to make sure that iu filmed
my shots on the sunnier days.
9. There isn’t much in my music video which challenges the codes and convention of indie folk
music videos and sets it apart from the majority of music videos. Apart from the change from
black and white to colour and vice versa at the start and the end of my music video when we
see the feet walking.
10. This break of the codes and convection of simplicity in indie folk music videos
and keeping the same colour palate throughout as it helped to show the fact
that this music video may also be walking in ‘the wrong direction’ similarly to
the protagonist in the music video.
