2. The Conventions:
• Catching- grabs the audiences attention
• Focal pull- something that catches the audiences
eye
• A large and bold title
• Information about the film (release date, actors,
rating)
• Information on director and production company
3. This poster is what is known as a ‘teaser poster’. This means that it
holds little information about the film and s used to catch the audiences
eye and make them want more. This type of poster is most effective
when there has been a large build up for the film.
This poster has been played out very effectively. The background
image is very dark, unrevealing and gives away very little to what the
film is about. The creators of this poster played it out very carefully
and cleverly added a lot of shadow towards the bottom so the
typography is clearly seen.
The poster is placed in black and white for two reasons. The first
reason is that many of the James Bond movie posters have dark,
limited colours and so it is following the conventions of the bond movie
posters. The second reason is that having it in black and white adds to
the idea that James Bond has a dark side. The shadow on his face,
the gun barrel background and his facial expression all add to the idea
that James bond isn't a good person.
Hinting to narrative is a key part of movie posters and helps to attract
the audience. In this movie poster, the audience can interpret the idea
that James Bond is at the end of the barrel of a gun, suggesting that he
is going to be shot. As well as this, the letter C in the word SPECTRE
is made up of a piece of glass that has been shot by glass.
The main selling point of this movie poster is the actor, Daniel Craig.
The reason for this is that he is a well known actor and many people
will pay to see him. As well as this he has starred in other films in the
James Bond series and is loved for the way he portrays this character.
4. Having the characters running from
something help identify it as an action film.
It also helps to pull the focus of the
audience as it makes them suspicious of
who Harry is running from.
Use of the tagline “the end begins”. This tag
line is short and to the point (making it more
memorable. Other tagline used in films
could include ‘the wait is over’
Emphasise on the protagonist/ main
character (Harry) by having him infront of
the other two characters and having him
larger.
Use of the word ‘epic’ to emphasise that it
is going to be a good film and to empress
the importance of the film
Large, bold, eye catching title that catches
the audiences eye and draws them in.
