2. SHORT FILM POSTER: THE SHORT GAME
The main image is of 3 children and a
golf ball, this is a perspective shot
from the golf ball which represents to
the audience how significant the ball
is and how it manipulates and could
change the children's lives. The 3
different children in the picture shows
that they are all fighting for the same
thing which is the golf ball. This
suggest that the films theme is about
a golf competition between them
which they all want to win.
• The title of the film ‘The Short Game’
follows the colours scheme of the poster
because it is brown the same colour of
the mud at the top of the whole. This is
also a dark colour so it contrasts with the
white background of the golf ball and
stands out a lot more. All the font is in
upper case to show how significant it is.
Furthermore the term ‘short’ is the
biggest and longest word in the title so
this uses juxtaposition and creates a
binary opposite.
• The lettering at the bottom of the advert has all the
people who worked on the film, this gives the audience a
insight to what the film is going to be like if a recognizable
director or producer has worked on it, furthermore it
would also help sell the film. For example if a famous
actor is on the front this will sell the film.
• The colour scheme of the poster
is very multi coloured, this goes
against the normal conventions
of a film advert, however it
engages the audience a lot
more compared to what it
would if the colours were plain
and dull. These multi colours also
makes the golfing scene seem a
lot more realistic because
stereotypically golfers wear
bright colours.• The quote at the top of the
advert is a quotation out of
one of the reviews. This says
‘they are some of the
greatest golfers in the world
and they are 7 years old’.
This is intriguing for the
audience because they will
want to find out more and
as a result it really helps sell
the film.

like the caption suggests. Direct
address isn’t used in this poster which
is important because it is breaking
the typical conventions of a film

suspense around the film. Lastly the
fact he is holding a prop like a
football is important because it will
appeal to a particular audience who
are interesting in football and it will
guarantee a certain amount of sales.• The masthead for the film ‘GOAL!’ is all in
upper case to signify how important goals
are within the film, this has two different
meanings. First of all it could mean scoring
a goal on the football pitch, furthermore it
could also mean as in his life goals. This
helps the audience gain a idea into the
film. Furthermore the design of it is very old
fashioned however it follows the house
styles for the rest of the poster as it is quite
• The quote at the bottom of the page reads ‘stirring and
triumphant!’ this is important because it tells the audience
how inspirational the film is and how the main character
becomes triumphant when trying to reach his goals. This is
white so it is the same colour of the title and it stands out
compared to the background.
• The colour scheme of the poster
is black, white, yellow and red.
First of all the jumper the main
character is wearing is black
which represents how he was a
nobody and then because of
the white ball he is holding he
realised his goal. Furthermore
red and yellow is used to creates
a sun rising kind of effect which is
significant because it shows that
his goals are just being realised
like when the sun rises.
4. SHORT FILM POSTER: ABE
The main character on this posters is the
robot ‘ABE’ and he dominates the poster
to suggest that the film is mainly about
him and that as a result he is a important
character. Furthermore he uses direct
address which draws the audience in and
appeals to them because they want to
watch the film because he is looking at
them and they want to find out more
about them this also generates a higher
amount of readership. Furthermore by
looking at this poster the audience can
easily see that the genre of film which is
being advertised is Sci-Fi this can either be
a good thing if they like this genre of film,
however it if they don’t this can easily put
some readers off it.
• The title for the film ‘ABE’ is in white font this is to
contrast with the dark background as it stands out a
lot more. Furthermore it is in very scientific and future
type of font, this explains that the film is very futuristic
and includes a lot of Sci-fi and by watching this film
the audience are able to achieve a sense of what the
future life is going to be like.
• The writing at the bottom of the page is very
dark this a convention of film posters. However
because of how dark it is it challenges the
conventions of a normal film because they
want to encourage the target audience to go
before they know who is in it.
• The colour scheme of this poster is
black, white, green and blue. These
colours contrast very well with each
other. As a result the colourful
elements stand out very well which
engages the audience because of
how unique it is, furthermore the hint
of green on his robot white body,
makes the audience ask why they
are their and what they suggests
which makes them want to watch
