The music video aims to inspire viewers and help them escape harsh realities through an adventurous narrative. It will follow a male actor performing skateboarding stunts in scenic natural landscapes. Wide shots and close-ups will be used to portray the actor's admiration for nature at the start. In the middle, many stunt clips will be intercut with landscape shots. At the end, the actor will walk back along the forest path, closing the storyline and leaving viewers feeling uplifted. The goal is to motivate viewers to embrace adventure like the actor.
1. Treatment of a music video
Define the Goals and Set Parameters.
The main goal in our music video is to successfully recreatea music video in the
style to the worldwideAvicii hit ‘The Nights’ with the song Without You’ which
is one of his most recent songs to be released. The reason for this is because
we believe there is a hidden messagein Tim Bergling’s mostrecent hit that
needs to be conveyed in an adventurous yetinspiring way.
What is the core message you are trying to convey in your video?
The core messageme and my group are trying to convey in our music video is
the idea of adventurewith a hint of inspiration to help lift up anyonewho is
feeling down or going through a rough time when watching the video.
Who do you want to watch the video?
The target audience we are trying to reach out to are referred to as the
mainstreamers. Often seen as the majority, the mainstreamers arepeople who
havestrong family values and indulge themselves in activities usually seen as a
normin the U.K.‘s temporary society.
What's the desired outcome you'd like to create- purchases,
political/ social change, and/or a good laugh? (You could consider
Blumler & Katz here).
The desired outcomewe are wanting to achieve is to inspireand let the
audience escape the reality of a harsh and challenging life for a few minutes.
This will be done through a series of cool and exciting stunts and shots used
throughoutour music video.
What's your budget and how long will the video run?
As we are an amateur production team, our budgetis very low and are mostly
relying on equipment and props wealready have. An example of this would be
the camera weare using to film with. Luckily, a member of the group has Nikon
P9000 COMPACTCamera which willallow us to work in the mostharsh and
hostile locations needed.
2. What’s the Concept? You’ll want to be able to quickly summarize
the theme and objective for the video. There must be at least one
core message.
The main theme of the music video is concept. This type of music video, rather
than featuring the band performing the song, is presented as a visual narrative.
These can be original stories, homages to a favouriteTV show or movie, or
anything else the performer or director comes up with.
The main objectiveof our music video is to inspirea generation and also help
the viewers escapethe harsh reality of society as well as the challenges and
problems they arecurrently facing.
What’s the Approach? Now's the time to lay out the specifics. This
is generally a narrative summary of the journey the audience is
going to take. A clear summary that reveals all of the important
details which will be presented to the viewer. Describe specifics
that will elicit response by the audience including shooting style,
and editing approach. Describe the emotions you will solicit along
the journey and how the audience will feel at the videos end.

3. Beginning The audience will see
a male figure sat down
on a tree stump or
branch. This actor will
have a skateboard by
his feet until picked up
by the actor when he
is then seen running
off into the distance
putting his skateboard
prop to the ground as
if he is about to skate
off.
A wide shot will be used
when filming this to get the
full effect of the sun
glistening through the tree
tops. This will be quickly
followed by a close up of
the Males face as he looks
around the woodland as if
he is admiring the beauty
of nature. Following on
from the close up, a second
wide shot will be used to
capture the actor running
off with his skateboard
until going behind a tree
and transitioning to a new
location.
As a group, we will
present the actor in a
way that comes
across to be
adventurous yet
inspiring. We would
like the audience to
feel inspired
throughout the
viewing and feel as if
they are capable of
for filing a life much
like the one they saw.
Middle The male actor will be
performing many
stunts followed by
many cinematic shots
the scenery and land
scape to inspire our
mainstreamer target
audience.
Many different camera
shots and angles will be
used in these clips to help
portray the music video in
an inspiring and
adventurous way. This will
help the audience maintain
their set opinion on the
actor throughout the
video.
Again, we will
present the actor in a
way that will inspire a
generation to
become more
adventurous and
break out of the
norms set by society.
End At the end, the actor
will walk past the
camera through the
woods with the
skateboard as if he is
going back on himself
at the start of the
video.
In order to portray this
shot, the cameraman will
come back from the tree to
a wide shot of the actor
walking back down the
forest path he ran up at the
start of the video.
The aim of this is to
close the storyline
and to make the
audience feel as if the
storyline is at its end.
