To secure a medical administrative assistant position that would utilize my background and education to expand
my administrative medical experience in a hospital setting.
WORK EXPERIENCE:

Secretary II- Intake/Scheduler /Ambulatory Care Center Rusk Rehabilitation 4/2012/ Present
● Provides reception assistance (i.e. greet patients, answers calls) Screens telephone calls in a pleasant and
professional manner.
● Schedules routine appointments and follow ups for visits and procedures.
● Responsible for check-in and check- out. Gather all patient demographics related data and materials
from patients and/or their representatives. Obtains insurance information (ID card, member/group #s
etc.), verifies insurance eligibility electronically. Register patient in patient secure. Collect and ask
patient to sign related documents including HIPAA, MSPQ, ABN etc.
● Monitor intake work queue for timely completion.
● Refers patients who have a question regarding insurance coverage or in need of financial counseling to
the Business office associate.
● Maintains positive and cooperative relationships with physicians, nurses, office and clinical staff.
● Type routine materials such as forms and letters, envelopes etc.
● Scan all necessary documents (insurance card, photo ID, lab requisitions etc.) into the intake system.
● Maintains patient confidentiality.
● May assist, provide guidance and/or train less senior staff with completing intake related duties.
● Performs other related duties as needed by providers and supervisors.

Central Processing Clerk /Temp
● Collect specimens from the Gravity Drop System or delivery person from both inpatients and
outpatients.
● Provide customer service to laboratories and medical staff.
● Investigate and troubleshoot problem specimens.
● Sort, processes and distributes specimens to various laboratories.
● Assist medical staff with orders and results.
● Perform routine support functions; answering telephones, receiving and sending faxes, daily
maintenance of workstations.
● Perform a number of tasks related to the processing of specimen using programs such as Sunquest and
Epic.

● Maintain positive relationships by providing excellent customer service for patients, families,
physicians, residents, staff and hospital administration.
● Handle sensitive and confidential patient information in compliance with HIPAA guidelines and
