Irianto Syamsir Abduh Jurusan Teknik Elektro-FTI Universitas Trisakti, Jakarta E-mail : syamsir@trisakti.ac.id;the_abduh@hotmail.com Telp/Fax : 021-5663232 Ext. 421/021-5605841 Abstract This paper summarizes the main results of a study aimed at determining the maximum lightning over-voltages in branchless underground feeder protected by metal-oxide arrester. The study has two parts. Initially, it is performed assuming an ideal behavior of all components: the goal is to gain insight into physical phenomenon. This will be useful to understand the main results obtained in second part, where an advanced model is used for representing arresters. Keyword: lightning, surge arresters, underground cables.

The study has two parts. Initially, it is performed assuming an ideal behavior of all components: the goal is to gain insight into physical phenomenon. This will be useful to understand the main results obtained in second part, where an advanced model is used for representing arresters. Keyword: lightning, surge arresters, underground cables.
