A Public Broadcasting show filmed a special DVD at The Spa at Riverview in New Smyrna Beach titled "Arthritis Water Therapy". The host, Suzanne Andrews, chose the location for its beautiful, stress-relieving setting which can help relieve arthritis pain. The DVD demonstrates water exercises tailored to specific joint conditions and is intended to help millions of arthritis suffers gain relief and regain independence. It will be distributed during PBS pledge drives as a thank you gift. The special highlights how therapeutic water exercises can nourish joints and reduce arthritis pain without drugs.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH – The cries of “standby!” and “Action!” could recently be
heard at The Spa at Riverview, as the grotto-like pool area transformed into a Hol-
lywood back lot.
The locally produced, nationally televised Public Broadcasting show, ‘Functional
Fitness’ starring Suzanne Andrews, utilized the beautiful setting to produce a spe-
cial DVD – ‘Arthritis Water Therapy.’
“As a patron of the spa,” said Ms. Andrews, “I thought the location was absolute-
ly breath-taking and realized people from all around the globe would appreciate
the beauty.” She quickly added, it was not just the spa’s ‘good looks’ which recom-
mended ‘The Spa at Riverview.’ According to acclaimed author and pain manage-
ment expert, Dr. Nathan Wei, stress release is a proven factor when it comes to
relieving arthritis pain.” Ms. Andrews continued, “The appealing scenery the spa
offers is a homeopathic reprieve from stress - so participants will receive a com-
plete mind, body and spirit program to relieve them of arthritis pain.”
She said this new pain management DVD will be offered as a ‘thank you’ to sup-
porters of PBS-TV stations across the U.S. and Canada during their pledge drives.
Public Broadcasting producer Tami Salame was supervising the ‘video shoot,’
and photographer Will Currie was busy ‘documenting the day.’
Suzanne Andrews, an Edgewater-based Public Broadcasting phenom, has risen
to stardom recently with her weekly show, ‘Functional Fitness.’ She said, pool ther-
apy can be just what the doctor ordered – when it comes to drug-free pain relief.
"Therapeutic water moves to relieve pain from your neck, shoulders, back, knees,
hips and hands,” said Ms. Andrews, “Each segment is medically designed to nour-
ish your joints, reduce arthritis pain and improve your joint function.”
In the DVD, the SEV show host asks the rhetorical question, “what do Os-
teoarthritis, Gout, Rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia have in common?”
She goes on to answer: “They all trigger joint pain limiting your ability to stoop,
bend, kneel, climb stairs, and walk. If you have Arthritis, this is the most impor-

She said, this New Smyrna Beach produced video could supply relief to mil-
lions – while highlighting the natural beauty of Southeast Volusia County, world-
wide. “Arthritis affects almost 46 million Americans every day and is expected to
go to 71 million by 2020. The fact is... arthritis can be deadly,” said Ms. Andrews,
“I hate to say this but even if it doesn’t kill you, what price do you put on your
loss of independence? Even simple tasks like tying shoes, buttoning blouses, and
going to the bathroom become torture – if you can do them at all.”
She adds, it doesn’t have to be that way. “The really sad thing is most
arthritis sufferers could be living a more productive and functional life.”
‘Functional Fitness’ currently airs at 10 a.m., Monday through Friday on Chan-
nel 15 here in Central Florida. She added, “friends and family can now get the
show in other parts of the country by calling their local PBS station to request
the show.” With a smile, the local-gone-national fitness expert said, she highly
recommends it.
