Employment History
GEA Shared Service IT UK (Corporate IT Specialist Remote and Physical support
for Multiple UK Sites Sept 2007 – Dec 31st 2015)
In 2007 I joined Barr-Rosin (later to become GEA) as a full time IT Specialist. As the
business grew and consolidated, I joined a larger team of 10 staff supporting all the
UK offices of GEA.
2. This was about 30-40 Offices from small ones of 10(e.g. Glasgow) or less to the
Larger ones with 100+ users (e.g. Sittingbourne & Eastleigh).
My roles in this included 1st line support for all UK users covering Network
infrastructure(Server maintenance & Administration, LAN and WAN Connection
Support, Local backup support), Mobile Phone Services, Software (Queries
,maintenance and Installations) and User Hardware Support(Desktops, Notebooks,
Printers, Peripherals, Security, maintenance) and was added to 2nd
Line support for
NetBackup after receiving my certification.
Primarily I was Local IT administration for the GEA Process Engineering Office in
Maidenhead where in addition to the above roles I was also responsible for local IT
purchasing which included sourcing suppliers, placing orders, Checking & signing off
purchase orders, helping to advise and set up contracts for phone lines, broadband
subscriptions, mobile phones, software licences and software support in some cases.
I enjoyed interacting with the users and my colleagues and gained much satisfaction
from completing Jobs to the best of our teams’ abilities. And am particularly proud of
the customer service I provided having received great Feedback from those I
supported and from management.
GEA Barr-Rosin (Maidenhead Part Time from 2002-2007)
During vacation from University and at other times whilst at school I worked as an I.T.
Technician for GEA Barr-Rosin. My duties were varied encompassing a number of
different aspects regarding Software and Hardware.
I was employed to re-build and maintain computer workstations as well as dealing
with user software issues throughout the office.
I was responsible for the backup of business critical data from the server on to a
number of different storage mediums.
I particularly enjoyed the ad hoc requests from end users such as providing complex
Spreadsheets for the engineering department and creating databases for the finance
department encompassing information for end of year financial reporting.
Marks and Spencer (Maidenhead Part Time from 2002-2005)
Whilst in full time education I worked part-time for 4 years as a Customer Sales
Assistant in a busy retail environment. During my time here I was given the
opportunity to experience a number of different aspects as regards a retail work
place. Not only have I moved between departments such as menswear,
childrenswear and the food department, maintaining the high standards of Customer
Service that Marks and Spencer expect. I have also had experience of stock control
and helping to collect the takings during and at the end of the day either by swapping
out the till draws or holding the alarm to make sure no one interfered with the
collection.
During my time with Marks and Spencer I gained a great deal of knowledge in dealing
with the general public.
