Davy McKee were employed as the Project Management Team
for the construction of the GOSP as well as some six separate
contracts providing auxiliary services to the main contract, e.g.
roads, security fencing, firewater and sewer lines etc., whose
contract values ranged from £250,000 to £3,600,000.
Responsibilities: Responsibilities included monitoring the weekly progress of the
works, agreement of interim valuations, reporting on financial
effect of changes to the contract during the progress of the
works, agreement of value of changes to the contract,
agreement of Final Accounts.

4. Pegel Arabia was an international contracting organisation,
employed to design and build a completely self-contained
military township comprising some 45 building types.
Contract value: US $287,000,000.
Responsibilities: Responsibilities included weekly progress report for internal
cost appraisal, submission of monthly Interim Payment
applications, compiling competitive tendering bids for other
schemes.

Types of Contract: This large international contracting organisation tendered only
for multi-million pound contracts in the Middle East. Projects
were as diverse as desalination plants, housing schemes,
industrial estates, schools, airport terminal buildings and
equestrian complex.
Responsibilities: Duties for the most part entailed taking off and billing
quantities for competitive tender bids.
During this period, I also undertook a three month secondment
contract in Saudi Arabia from April – July 1982, working as an
on-site Quantity Surveyor during which time I prepared
quantities for such buildings as schools, officers’ club and
swimming pool, Mosque, cold storage warehouse, power plant,
sewage treatment plant.
